changing time is the worst.
I wish all the time for time to stop so I can do everything I ever wanted, in a world where everyone is frozen except me. A few millenia of perfect solitude and enjoying all the books, movies and games ever made and then I would die a happy person.

I booked hotel stay at a Holiday Inn through booking.com because it was cheaper than booking directly.
Found out Holiday Inn has a rewards program so i called to try to add my stay.

I only have my booking.com confirmation #.
person on the phone looked up hotel place and dates to get my Holiday Inn confirmation #.
She said i have to wait till a few days after my stay is over to get the stay added.

So it's now a few days since my stay ended and i called only to find out that since i booked through a 3rd party that i dont get points.
Why the heck didnt the 1st person say that? :(

hm.. i guess this isnt a 1stworldproblem but just a slight post-vacation rant

Time doesn't wait for anyone.

I had about two tablespoons of honey left in a plastic container. Thought the easiest way to get at it would be to use hot water to dissolve it and use it in tea. Well, the plastic distorted from the heat and I debated whether I should ingest melted plastic particles in my tea. Decided to err on the side of caution and dumped it down the drain. Damn drain critters now feasting on my honey. I feel sad. Wish the container had been made of heat proof glass. Damn capitalism for skimping on packaging costs.

By the way, I'm all ears on how to get all the honey out of a narrow plastic container without turning it upside down and waiting an eternity for it to trickle out completely.

I wouldn't worry about the plastic. Your ingestion is so great from other sources, the occasional heated plastic won't significantly add to it.

But if something happens in future (like cancer), my mind will immediately go back to the heated plastic honey dissolved tea incident and I will feel that sinking feeling that I could have prevented it. Don't want to be in that position.

Simple solution...don't buy products packaged in plastic

Winter is here and I'm not mentally ready for this crap. This summer just went by too fast and I hardly got anything done.

At least my snow blower works this year so I got that going for me. Used it for the first time today.

I see my endocrinologist once or twice per year and I typically see my PCP or his APRN once per year. Last saw the APRN in summer of '22 and scheduled my next appointment with her in June of '23. In May of '23 I get a notice that the APRN has left the practice, my appointment has been canceled and I'll need to call to schedule with the PCP. I call and the next available appointment is November '23. That appointment is coming up next week and I realize it conflicts with a meeting for work, a meeting I can't miss with the new job I started in October. I call to reschedule and the next available opening is February '24.

I'm installing drywall. I hate installing drywall. That's my FWP right now.

Ironicly I sometimes toy with getting into it if I was to lose my job since it pays better than tech now days and doesn't require a license unlike most trades. Think I would only get into plastering and painting though. Saw an IT manager job posting the other day, $15 bucks an hour lmao. It's brutal how low tech pays now. I'm lucky to be grandfathered into a pretty good pay scale and think I'm safe for a while.

@Red Squirrel my bro is a 10th grade dropout. He's worth about $5M at 62yo, plumber. And, fuck him, but he's the best $ can get.

Trades are money these days. For you, machinists might be a niche.

And eff mudding rock...another skill I don't want to learn.

Only 4 things you need to know to be a plumber…

1. Hot goes on the left.
2. Cold goes on the right.
3. Shit doesn’t flow uphill.
4. Payday is on Friday.

I've love to get into electrical actually but the licensing requirements is pretty crazy to try to get into once you're established in life and have bills to pay. I would probably even look at doing solar installs. I could see that working well here with lot of people who have cottages and such.

But for now, I'll stick with my cushy office job. :p I just like to think a bit ahead in case the company decides to downsize and cut jobs. As long as all the DMSes are running I think we're fine though, none of the other NOCs want to touch that stuff. I'd like if we brought in more IP stuff though as I'd feel it's more job security.

Well the worst of it is done! Crappy job, but the painter will fix it. ;)

For the server room I think I'll mud as best as I can, without sanding, then add borders on top. That's actually how they do it in central offices, to avoid dust getting into the equipment. Probably getting enough dust as is just from cutting and handling it.

Working in tight spots makes it too hard to raise full sheets vertically, so I cheated by cutting in smaller sections.

Electrician:
bend conduit and pull wire

and they're getting away from bending now-a-days.
sticking on prefab 15,30,45,60,75,90 degree elbows is cheaper due to hourly cost of labor especially on jobs that work nights and weekends. (night differential and/or time and half pay)
