Well the worst of it is done! Crappy job, but the painter will fix it. ;)

For the server room I think I'll mud as best as I can, without sanding, then add borders on top. That's actually how they do it in central offices, to avoid dust getting into the equipment. Probably getting enough dust as is just from cutting and handling it.

Working in tight spots makes it too hard to raise full sheets vertically, so I cheated by cutting in smaller sections.
Run the sheets horizontally, that leaves the indent at waist height and finishing much easier. I also have a 16 inch curved trowel for sale.

Ordered a new receiver over the weekend to replace my current one (~12 years old); mainly to get 4k capability, but hope that room correction has improved in that time as well. Of course, another model came up today for 1/2 the price and, while not at the same level, it might be good enough for me. There's still time to cancel the first order. Hmmm...
So another FWP due to this previous one. I finally took the time to get my old receiver out of the cabinet (not easy!) and connected the cables to test this one. It doesn't work!! Well, everything works other than it doesn't make any sound

Now I have to box it back up and send it back.

Bummer. A belated, and related first world problem of mine...

About 20 years I bought a refurb dell 5.1 speaker system, but never ended up using it. A couple weeks ago, the plug finally gave out on my bedroom 2.1 system, so I figured the 5.1s would be a good replacement. Pull everything out, hook everything up, and the 5.1s don't work... I ended up cutting the plugs off each system, splicing the 5.1 plug on the 2.1s, and everything now works. Sucks that I have 10# of shit for a 2G plug though... :^S

That's what I had to do, too hard to maneuver full sheets in that tight space. Makes a lot more seams that way though. Painter will fix it. :p (that will be me)

Namecheap's 2FA has been down for like 2 weeks now and they just say "we're working on it". How complicated can it be? Can't login to my account and I'm starting to consider migrating my domains to another registrar now, except I won't be able to do that if I can't login to unlock them and get the auth code... Also most providers don't offer whois privacy for free.

Guess I'll just wait it out, but it's quite annoying being locked out.

Bought an out of print vinyl off eBay for my wife's birthday (Alice in Chains unplugged). The guy sandwiched it between two pieces of cardboard smaller than the vinyl in an envelope and one of the corners is bent to hell, pretty annoying I paid quite a bit for it but it wouldn't bother me quite as much if it wasn't a present.

They made me call Denon CS to troubleshoot it before they would process the return. Didn't get quite that basic, but almost (are the speaker wires connected, etc).

Edit: It surprised me how long it took to boot up. While I want the newer features (4k, Atmos), it's almost tempting to keep my old Onkyo for its quicker power-on. And, the Onkyo is built like a tank compared to the Denon.

Washing comforters at Laundromat. Figure I'll walk to next plaza's coffee shop and get a coffee while waiting. Waited twenty minutes to order coffee... Was faster for me to drive over and go through the drive through line and the annoying left turns than walking in and waiting. :colbert:

I don't know if this is so much a problem, just a comical situation, but I forgot to turn off my clock radio last night since I start night shifts tonight so I tend to just let myself sleep in until I wakeup naturally. It was set to 11am. That coincided with the moment of silence for remembrance day. So the alarm went off but was just silent, and I ended up being awakened by trumpets. Really startled me at first until I realized what was going on lol.

Ugh I have the flu. I had really bad chills last night that went away overnight, but I woke up drenched in sweat and with a terrible headache. I tried to take NyQuil yesterday afternoon so I could nap, but it didn't do anything. It expired in 2018 so maybe that's why. At least I have an excuse not to go to work for a couple of days.

They now make a "severe" cold and flu that I found works better.

Looks like I have to sign up for Apple TV for a month since the fourth season of For All Mankind just dropped, and January 10th is the finale, so I'll grab it then.

Not so bad though, I'll feel a lot worse when I have to get HBO Max to binge House of the Dragons once the next season is over. Zaslov is a POS.

For me, I got into work before everyone else today. I put the coffee maker on and then got involved in some work and waited about 20 minutes before coming back to the coffee and in that time everyone else had drunk it all and no one bothered to make more, so I had to make a second batch.

I feel like someone should be asking you this. How does it feel to have started one of the most epic and positive threads in online forum history, almost ten years ago now?

And will you be putting out a 10th anniversary edition in '24?

My bank's online interface has a glitch where when you try to do a transaction when you type inside the amount field it has a javascript function that formats it into a human readable format like $1,244.42 but the script that validates that value and probably the server too wants a clean number like 1244.42 so it would not let me do a transfer because of that. I had to edit the field manually using developer tools to get the transaction to go through so it does not call the format function.

It feels a bit sketchy having to live edit client side production code in order to do banking. :p But it actually worked.

Can't focus on new threads right now. I'm still angry about that coffee incident.

Someone posted a pic of a burrowing owl standing on a gravestone to one of the birder forums. Some folks are very uncomfortable with the idea of burrowing owls living in the cemetery. :p
