I used to go nap in my car during lunch too back when I drove to work. Now I just step from the office into the bedroom.

My company decided to switch spyware providers for our company phones. This requires that all of our phones be wiped. The only source of backups for contacts is Outlook. Outlook has this habit of reverting to a contact list last updated in 2016. I have to go through all the contacts and re-silence folks.

Whenever I install Office, I choose Custom Installation and uncheck Outlook.

Microsoft is the best at making cursed software.

Outlook is so slow and bloated. I guess it does not help our work PCs are not any more powerful than a Raspberry Pi 2 but any time I try to do certain operations in Outlook it will basically lock up the entire machine. The fan will start to rev up and everything. It's like hold your horses I just pasted an image, I'm not trying to mine bitcoin or something.

Google Pixel Tablet was out for delivery today, then had an exception. Address information needed updating. The address looked fine. Called UPS. Fucking Google printed the right address but didn't put either the billing address or the delivery address correctly in the UPS system and I could not fix it on my end, UPS could not change it unless Google contacted them. Spoke to Google Store support twice today, supposed to get an email tonight as it got escalated. Not holding my breath.

We are trying to find a builder for a small outbuilding. We contacted one builder who wants to be paid $30K (not a bad price), upfront, in hundred dollar bills. We laughed at him.

How big is this building? 30k seems like a lot of money. Although labour is pretty high up there now days since there's not that many people who actually want to do physical work. Having a hard time finding anyone to do my wood stove chimney, the guy that said he'd do it keeps bailing on me. Says he'll call me back in a week and never does. I think I'm going to just end up doing the job myself. I have not tried calling every hvac company yet so going to do that first. It's kind of a tedious job that I honestly don't feel like doing myself, and I rather be working on other stuff like my cabin build. Hoping to get a stretch of days off where the weather is actually decent so I can go get started. I keep getting screwed over by rain and all the days where it's nice I'm working.

Kind of eerie when all the lights on the floor shut off except the one room where you're busy working alone. All the equipment you were using . . .. computers, printers, and refrigerator shut off. And it's just you . . . sitting there in a solitary room with the lights on and a fan spinning nearby. The rest of the floor is darkness. No windows. No flashlight. Even the stairwell to the ground floor is unlit, so you have to ease your way downstairs to exit the building.

Trying to communicate with UPS in any way to correct a problem via the phone or website is like beating your head against a wall .... and Fedex/USPS are even worse. (nevermind worthless Amazon)

It's reached the point where I will no longer order anything too expensive that has to ship at all online ... ultimately logistical problems are going to put a serious damper on enthusiasm for internet shopping if this doesn't get fixed.

If you know where your local UPS hub is, go there and ask for a local number. Yours may not give it out, but mine was very free with it and I can call there to get things done. They'll pull and hold a package for me, or send it to another address, no muss no fuss. Very easy to deal with ... usually.

No phone tree either. Person will usually answer on the second ring.

My small rural Post Office has about four people working inside. They always answer and do what they can.

A website I use all the time recently got a face-lift and now it uses Admiral anti-ad block detection so every time I go there it prompts me to turn off ad blocking or leave. Guess I won't be using that site anymore.

Got to the office to start my night shift after working from home for past few weeks, normally I just plop the PC down, plug everything in, turn it on, and everything works. But someone messed with one of my monitors and switched it with another that turned out to be defective. Spent a good 15 minutes troubleshooting that, and ultimately having to borrow a monitor from another workstation to get up and running again. Since it was a different monitor I also had to reconfigure the placement/orientation.

This could turn into a win though, I emailed my boss about it, and as a side I also asked if I could get a 4k for my main screen, as that's the only one that is HD. At home I have 4k for my main and it goes better when making tickets, emails etc due to more real estate.

Yeah there's technically a hybrid arrangement but I work out in the field sometimes and they're technically office days so I'm lucky if I get to the office once a week. And I'm not willing to let this cut into my nap time!

Got some work done on my truck but was on night shifts so I could never get around to go pay the bill as I sleep during the day. I went today but they closed early probably because it's a long weekend. I also had to return something at Canadian Tire so I figured the drive was not for nothing so I started to drive towards there only to forget about the construction in that area that causes a huge traffic backlog. Basically like being on the 400 series highways where you're going like 1cm per minute. Also got caught in a thunderstorm in middle of all that. Nothing like being trapped as a sitting duck in middle of a thunderstorm. Was next to a gas station for a while too. I bailed the hell out of that crap first chance I got by taking a side street, but still wasted a good 20 minutes stuck. All that for nothing. Should have stayed home lol.

I had a staging for a huge listing moved twice in two days due to the furniture rental company, and had to adjust the photographer as well each time. And change a couple listing appointments I had scheduled which I hate doing. Thanks furniture rental company!

Suffering through another quarterly surplus with my employer. This year started with the company them asking people to politely quit or retire. That didn't work so they surplussed folks in March. Before COVID we worked from home except for one day in the office. During COVID we worked from home 100%. After COVID they immediately went to twice in the office per week. When that didn't get rid of enough people and in preparation for this latest round in June to surplus folks than required three days in the office. This is amusing in that during COVID not only did we prove we could be as productive or more, but we also proved that the cellular and broadband network was more than capable of handling nearly 80& working from home full-time. But, they are trying to make the job so uncomfortable that at the end of June that went to three days in the office per week and held a surplus. This is the AT&T way.

2 1/2 years after owning this Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G (128GB) inside a protective case since day 1, it slips off and falls from charging table about 16" and just happens to hit the edge. Good thing I have a $12/month protection warranty from Google-Fi. After chatting on-line with person, first suggestion was a total replacement, ship to a Samsung service center, $179 deductible. Didn't want to deal with hustle of reconfiguring the replacement phone with the same apps, etc, a suggested via a cloud backup.

Told them that I want the screen to be fixed which they agreed to. Brought it to the nearest UBreakIFix 6 miles away. No available parts at location, if it was could have taken 1-2 hours to replace the screen. Informed the associate that I could wait a week for it. $99 deductible.

$460 to fix an old ass phone. I can appreciate reducing Etrash, but you still have an old ass phone with a $460 screen, and everything else aging into obsolescence.

Just backup your data and exchange the phone. At least you will get a new one right?
