I have a noise cancelling set of Bose Quietcomfort 20 noise cancelling ear bud headphones. Not cheap: $240 shipped. I don't use them for music. I use my isolating Etymotic Research earbuds for music. What I use the Bose for is when I take a nap during the day. I do that occasionally and frequently if not usually the ambient noises in my neighborhood interfere to some extent. So, I put those headphones on and turn them on and the noise is cancelled by about 80%. I was looking for them the other day and they weren't where I normally keep them. I looked everywhere in my bedroom, knowing they had to be there, but couldn't find them. I got the idea to look in my trash can. Yep, they'd somehow fallen from my bed into the trash. If I hadn't looked or thrown out the trash without realizing I was missing the headphones they would have been history!Ended up just ordering another one. I hate buying something when I KNOW I have it here but can't find it. I consider the other one a loss at this point. Looked all over for it. It could even be that I accidentally threw it out with the box when I originally got the package.

I have a set of Sony NC's too (Sony WF-1000XM3), but the Bose are much better at blocking out ambient noise... so far, anyway. For a long time they seemed incapable of doing that at all, but a different set of buds helped that a lot. The Bose don't AFAIK accommodate any kind of alternate wearing mode. They do NC really really well. They aren't isolating, though, so in really noisy environments they don't satisfy. Excellent for a nap, however.I have a decent (not great) set of Sony NC headphones. I'll put them on, connect to the Sirius app on my phone and nap while my wife watches here "crap TV" shows.
ear buds? No thanks. On ear or over ear for me.I have a set of Sony NC's too (Sony WF-1000XM3), but the Bose are much better at blocking out ambient noise... so far, anyway. My mom's like that with PCs and laptops. She cares more about the shape, color, size, than she does the specs, or whether the PC will be sufficiently-powerful for her needs or not, and cares not a whit about anything more powerful. But for her, 99.9% of her car purchase decision is simply how it looks. Picky, picky, picky..........

My new bedroom ceiling fan wobbles a bit. Very glad to have the 80's one down but I don't want a repeat of wobbling and eventually clicking noises driving me crazy.
Or should have bought the self leveling kind. They come with a weight for you to balance the fan no?
I've been an Etymotic Research believer since around 1999 when I had to sit in a cubicle surrounded by noise and do critical code programming that would have crippled the business if I made a simple blunder. I was desperate for a solution. Absent they putting me in my own office, those Ety ER4S were a godsend. They eventually did let me sit in a tiny office. I had to share it with a cool Turkish guy who fortunately did IT around the joint and was out of the room most of the time.ear buds? No thanks. On ear or over ear for me.
LOL! I was looking up Etymotic Research ear buds and this showed up in the search Amazon - Suckle Buddy

Yes I've been working with the included balancing kit. I ran the fan for a little with no blades after I weighed them, there's still some wobble. Unfortunately detaching the handles and trying to weigh / balance them out might mean taking the whole fan down again. It wobbles back and forth about 1/8 - 1/4" which isn't that awful. 24" downrod too. They come with a weight for you to balance the fan no?
50+ minutes later... "I guess we're done f'in' with you."“Your computer will restart in 30 seconds.”
Damn IT assholes. In the middle of the work day.
I should add that since I'm teleworking, voice over IP means no phone as well as no computer.50+ minutes later... "I guess we're done f'in' with you."
