Today my coffee maker said "Here's 7 ounces of warm coffee. Didn't feel like making the 20 ounces you're used to. Now go fuck yourself and have a nice Monday!." :(

New $17 4 cup coffee will be here from Amazon on Wed.

Was it making tons of noise? My old one started to do that too, it was gargling pretty much from the start of the brew and got hardly no water out. After descaling it a bunch of times it worked ok but the taste was never right. Bought a new machine and within a few weeks of owning it the coffee started to be meh. It's like it's not extracting the taste from the coffee so it ends up like drinking hot water with nothing to it. No idea what's going on at this point. Bought a French press but I did not realize 4 cups meant 1 cup when it comes to French presses lol, so if I stick to doing coffee this way I'll want to buy the biggest one I can find so I can at least make more than one cup.

Maybe all this bad luck is telling me I need to cut down on coffee, which I've been doing anyway. :p

I don't think it was making any unusual noises. I usually turn it on and then go brush my teeth. It just up and died on me.

I also tried the french press but it was too messy. I didn't want to pour the ground down my sink so I added water to the pot, swirl it around and dump in the toilet. I was a pain the butt. I also tried the the Aeropress but it's also too much work when I'm still half asleep. And to be honest they are only marginally better than a cheap coffee pot IMHO.

I think 5oz = 1 cup when it comes to coffee. I never did understand it myself.

Bent over slightly to put water from a cup into the dog's water bowls, and my back totally locked up/went out. I know what my at least next few days will now be like.

Nope. Both of those actually make me sick (found that out after being prescribed them after my back surgery).

Now if you happen have a spare adamantium spine laying around the house being unused, just let me know what you'd being willing to sell it for. :p

If you'd have only asked last week...

I'm actually allergic to codeine and vicodin (hydrocodone...but for some reason, can take Oxycontin and Percodan. (both are oxycodone) I can tolerate hydrocodone...as long as I take 2 benadryl caps with each pill...so I found out after my 2004 knee surgery. I told the orthopedic surgeon I was allergic..."Oh, NO ONE is actually allergic to hydrocodone...they just think they are."
So, after my surgery, he sent me home with oxycontin and vicodin...the next morning, I was covered in huge hives and was having trouble breathing. I took two benadryl...and my wife hauled me to his office. He took one look at me, "Oh, I'll be damned...I guess you ARE allergic. Keep taking them...with benadryl."

Think my phone got hacked again. Probably stage fright I'm getting hit with, but not sure. Basically the phone just gets ridiculously hot any time the texting app is open. So I think I'm getting hit with a text based virus and then it's sending out spam from my phone or something. I hate that they just stop updating phones randomly and you can't get security updates anymore. The whole phone ecosystem sucks for that. Hate to get rid of hardware that still works just because they refuse to update it.

Probably have no choice at this point though. I was holding off for the Librem but it's pretty much a flop, so I will need to try to find another Android in the <$400 price range. I sometimes think of joining the dark side and going Apple like everybody else does but I can't justify paying that kind of money for a phone, especially knowing that in ~5 years it will stop getting updates. Phones are basically designed to be disposable and I hate that so much, especially when you pay that much money for it.

Stagefright is the name given to a group of software bugs that affect versions 2.2 "Froyo" of the Android operating system.
How old is your phone?

I still don't have a smartphone but looking into them, yeah, the "disposability"(no more updates) of them after a few years does suck. Oreo 8.1 was supposed to be not updated anymore but that's held off by Covid, for now, so that's the oldest version to get official updates.

i can cut off the shaft of a craftsman screwdriver and weld it to your spine.
craftsman = lifetime warranty, right?
if it breaks, get another free to put on your spine.

hm.. not weld but solder.
just for you, i'll use silver solder instead of tin solder

Got an email from Jomashop a watch had shipped yesterday at 2:30pm - it is now 6pm the next day and it still has yet to be shipped. A lot of etailers do this, email you that your item has shipped just when they print the label. Then it takes 1-2 days, one time even 3 days, for it to actually ship. It's really annoying.

TIL that polyglot is a person that can speak several languages. I need to change my nick to CuteAdorablePolyglot. :D

There are several individuals on YT that can speak several languages fluently, almost as well as the natives.

Spent 45 min filing my kid's taxes so he can get an $80 refund. Partly my fault, he worked in GA, lives in SC and I missed the out of state income question.

Office 365 added two new additional dialog steps to save a new file to your PC because Microsoft wants to make it harder for the user if you don't want to use their OneDrive bullshit.

I also have a laser Brother printer, a HL-5470dw, have called them a time or two and gotten decent service. Had a problem in that the toner on printed sheets would smear, the prints would become unreadable. It's a B&W printer. They gave me the solution. There's a setting "improve toner fixing." You have to dig into the options to find it. Once properly set, it's remembered. Ever since doing this my prints have been great with few exceptions. It takes an extra 5 seconds or so for the first print to come out. I think it has to do with heating the toner setting element enough. Why it is necessary to make the adjustment I don't know.

My Brother 2270DW laser which I got for $98 at Staples in early 2012 is still going strong without so much as a hiccup ON THE ORIGINAL TONER !!

:D

Only issues I ever had with it were trying to get the wireless setup to work .... long story short its freaking impossible!

Display Port has this annoying thing where when you turn off a monitor, or even switch input, it tells the computer that the monitor is unplugged. That causes all the windows to be all reshuffled all over the place and it makes a huge mess. When I work from home I have it setup so one of the 4k's is on the KVM so I can switch between work and personal easily. This works ok as the KVM always shows something connected to both machines. But the secondary monitor on top I have it setup so I just plug DP directly in, and HDMI is also directly in from my personal. I just switch the input to work and keep it that way for the day. This causes my work computer to go completely haywire when I switch it back to personal or even turn off the monitor. I have a special inline HDMI dongle I use for my personal as I was having the issue even in Linux with HDMI where it would shuffle all my windows around in Linux. (why is this annoying thing even a thing anyway?). This works great, but the work PC is DP and I can't seem to find such dongles that are made for DP.

I bought 2 DP to HDMI converters last year, and for the life of me I cannot find the 2nd one. The 1st one is already in use to go from DP to the KVM. I was thinking of using the 2nd one for the 2nd 4k and then putting the HDMI inline dongle thingy inline so it can stop the whole window shuffle thing. It annoys me that I can't find the second converter.

Ended up just ordering another one. I hate buying something when I KNOW I have it here but can't find it. I consider the other one a loss at this point. Looked all over for it. It could even be that I accidentally threw it out with the box when I originally got the package.

No worries ... it'll turn up right after its too late to return the new one! :p

I got an email from the NH Lottery. I bought MegaMillions tickets because there was a 2 for 1 deal.
Just got an email, the header summary in in the left column says "Congratulations on your win!"

OMG, I just won the Mega Millions lottery - wow, I can't hardly believe this...10s of millions of dollars o_O. I can buy a new home with an in-law apartment for my mom, etc., etc.
After my shock, I click on the email. I won $8. Ugh, from the sky to the basement in 60 seconds :(.
Boo Hoo!

I fell for a phishing test email at work the other day. Had to redo part of the security training. I was kind of kicking myself for falling for it lol. It does make me wonder if I've ever fell for anything like this at home.... I might be due for a clean install lol. I'm probably a bit safer with Linux but hard to tell, I'm sure some web drive by viruses target Linux as well, so can't just assume I'm safe.

My home spam filter catches this stuff like 99% of the time though, while the one at work was designed to test us and did not get stopped by the spam filter. Though real phishing that is well thought out can very well act that way too so it's still up to the idiot in front of the keyboard not to click on the damn thing. lol.

LOL it's funny you say that because the day after I found it at work! I guess I brought it at work to test something and forgot about it. I was thankfully able to cancel the order though.

Also the good news is putting the adapter going from DP to HDMI and plugging into my monitor's 2nd HDMI input fixed the screen shuffling problem even without the inline emulator plug thingyamajig. Meanwhile on my personal machine I used to do it with HDMI until I got that special plug. For the primary I think the KVM makes it so it does not do it. Worse case scenario I would have gotten a second KVM for the second monitor.
