Keyboard still works in those gui.

Not this one, I was able to do basic functionality but certain things required the mouse. Like I can tab to different parts but then to make a selection you have to drag. It's not even a click. I miss the old 90's style BIOS they were simple. :p

We drove over to Tacoma on Thursday to but some "bargain" Alaskan yellow cedar for building planting boxes for the greenhouse. Bought quite a few 5/4 x6"x6' boards...they vary from 5-1/4" to 6-1/4" wide...and from 70-1/2" to almost 73" long... and they're ALMOST the same thickness as a 2x6.
"Gee, honey...look how much money I saved,"

The only real problems with the extra thickness is the additional weight for me to move them into the greenhouse...and a slight reduction in plantable area.

Me: I'd like to print this using the bypass tray.
Printer: Fuck you.
Me: I'd like you to print a copy of this document you chose not to print from the bypass tray.
Printer: Sure thing.
Me: Why didn't you print from the bypass tray in the first place?
Printer: I got stock in Boise Cascade, oh, and fuck you.

EITC ...ftw?

I am married with 4 kids. All in school, oldest in college. I only claim married and 2, to be held a little higher rate. Just paid almost $1,800 this week alone in taxes. By next week I will be well over 10k paid in taxes this year. I dont have anything else to write off, than I already do. But yeah people who dont work and have multiple kids get a ton of money in taxes. Prevents some from even trying to work, or from trying to better themselves.

Its just annoying people bragging about getting a huge tax check "back" when they dont pay in as much as they get a check for. Wasting it on crap they dont need, like some car with 25% interest. That's all Im saying, pay in what feels like a bunch, and still pay at the end of the year. Guess I will take more time of work and try to make less.

Because of snow the school bus is cancelled. Bastards, I was going to enjoy a quiet work from home day now I have to drop off the kids.

Just make them walk to school... :p

Speaking of working from home... I wasn't sure which FWP thread was more appropriate for this, but I guess this one works.

I took the last three weeks off of work due to stress/burnout, and I'm just starting to do some work from home, though I'm most likely going to take next week off to work from home almost full-time; I really don't want to go back.

I wrote down everything that has caused my stress, along with why I got to this point and potential solutions, which I'll be discussing with my boss and HR when I get back. I'm certainly in a position where they will listen to me and take positive action.

One of my solutions to avoid burnout is a flexible working schedule determined by me - if I need to, I should be able to go home at noon on a Wednesday or 3p.m. every day of the week (for the past probably seven years I have been working ~7a.m. to 5p.m.), provided I get all of my work done. The problem is, the company I work for is fairly strict in that you need to be there between 8a.m. to 5p.m., and working from home is extremely rare. In this day and age, that's just unacceptable to me, and I will probably have to threaten to leave if I don't get what I want - I know this is a common fallacy, but they really do need me to stick around.

It's a pretty big gamble that I'll be making, but if it works out in my favor I can see myself being even more productive than I am now while being away from the office much more often. I'll be using this week and next week as evidence that I can be more productive while working from home.

Every place I've ever lived in my life cancels SCHOOL, not the busses.
If a bus cant get thru what the fuck is the point of holding classes?
Do they honestly believe parents can get their rugrats in on time with their fucking Mini's?

In some situations kids may not have any other place to go in the day, especially younger ones who can't stay home alone and both parents work. So it's safer to just keep the schools open so they have a warm place to go. I used to walk when I was in high school and there's quite a few times where I only realized it was a snow day when I got there. I could either stay and go play on the computers or get homework done or something, or just go back home.

I find the way they call snow days is a bit arbitrary though, sometimes it's not even that bad out and they call one. Even when I was in school it happened, not that I complained. Now it seems they call them even more though.

more proof that school teachers are just considered babysitters by most parents...

Growing up, they never cancelled the buses - school was simply called off or had a delayed opening. Seems very strange to me that rather than have a bunch of buses on the roads, instead they think it's alright to have hundreds of parents driving their kids to school, who are most likely in a rush and not in a great mood.

If they're actually worried about liabilities and EXPECT parents to drive their kids to school on dangerous roads, they should get rid of busses entirely.

"technically" the school is closed, in the sense that there are no classes. Parents are not actually expected to bring their kids unless they choose to.

Liability is probably part of the issue too, too many people wanting to sue these days. Though if a parent drives their kid to school and gets into an accident doing so they could probably sue anyway...

Nope. Schools were open. At least for our board.

Like with full classes and everything? That's retarded then. When they cancel buses here the classes are cancelled. At least till high school. In college the classes always run but it's RARE that the city buses get cancelled.
