Just talking about fluids and filters. And tuneups of course.Honestly I've never done any kind of maintenance having to do with a catalytic converter I don't know crap about cars either... is there something you're suppose to do to maintain it?
Cats go bad...it happens, but $1000 to replace one seems fucking ridiculous. Are they also changing the O2 sensor?
In the past 7 weeks I have made 56 phone calls to a specialty pharmacy and have only managed to get 1 refill after a 5 week lapse. My insurance won't pay unless it goes through that specific pharmacy. It would cost me 56k a year cash price.
Sounds like a good deal if you're getting your meds for free.
General mechanic, well more of a rad place but really they do pretty much anything. They are one of the more well established places. He's always been very reasonable with pricing so I don't think he's playing me at all. I know catalytic converters are expensive, and the labour is also quite involved. Lot of stuff to take apart to get to it.
Replacing a cat isn't difficult...30 minute job for most...and at $250-$300, it's not that expensive. O2 sensors are part of the exhaust/emmissions system, but not technically part of the catalytic converter. Check around before you dump $1000 into a cat replacement...call a couple of exhaust shops, even the Ford dealership.
I'm shocked! Insurance policies aren't free and insurance companies are in business to make money for their shareholders, not to make life easy for their customers.

If I had a proper big heated garage to work in I'd totally want to do more work myself and learn to work on cars but working outside in the cold not fun, I'll just pay the premium mechanic price. It's one of the reasons I want to buy a property in an unorganized township (no need for permits) as I want to build a big ass garage for all sorts of projects including learning to work on cars.
Take the money you save by not bringing your truck to the mechanic and insulate/heat your garage!
I went to three different stores in search of C9 ceramic, multi-color, incandescent light strings. Achievement denied.F'in' LEDs ruining Christmas. I want a warm glow not freakin' runway lights.
With having no prior car repair experience, besides swapping my all-season and winter tires, I replaced the resonator and muffler on my 12 year old rusted-out car without any problems. Saved a few hundred bucks by ordering the parts from Rock Auto over having my mechanic do it, and I learned a lot.
Feckless tards. The people in my social circle who were all raving about Pelatons last year are now virtue signaling how much they hate Pelaton.
