We had the wettest August I ever remember. There may have been hurricane events in the past that pushed up the total number, but we haven't had this many wet days in my memory.

Here it's super sporadic. Some summers are dry and some are super wet. This year was mostly wet with oddball nice days. I recall two summers in a row years back where it was basically one 3 month long torrential downpour. It was ridiculous. It would stop for a few hours at a time, then start again. That was two very depressing summers. Could not even go to the car without getting completely soaked.

Not me but....

Headed to the in-laws this a.m. to do a tile job. There is an iron man race happening tomorrow so they have put up the mobile billboards for traffic alerts. Well, one was hacked. The new message said, "I can f**k your Mom." Oops. I'll check the dash cam, to see how well it picked it up. Had the wife call someone she knows at the DOT. He wasn't happy. They aren't DOT signs but his phone will be lit up Monday morning anyway.

Alky sighting? He might be a little north due to the recent hurricane.

I have a wikipedia page idling in a tab that's been there a few weeks, and I can't remember why I saved it. It's an old play, Knight of the Burning Pestle. I think it's related to something else, and it caught my attention, but I can't remember why. Maybe I was gonna see if I could find it on archive.org? I wish I could remember what drew me to it :^/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Knight_of_the_Burning_Pestle

edit:
I think I got it! I was looking up the origin of the ballad Little Musgrave, and the play was listed as alluding to the ballad. I looked up the play, and was gonna try to track a copy down.

Looks like the hummingbirds are gone. I haven't seen one all week.

This is also kind of a first world triumph. I posted earlier about forgetting to get sugar to make food. Well, I had enough to make a ~20oz batch, which is about 1.5 fills. I don't fill the feeder all the way cause I don't get enough birds to drink it before it goes bad. They quit coming on the last half batch I put in. It could hardly have turned out more perfect. I won't have to buy sugar til next year :^)

Had some hinges that were rusting away and needed replacement. Went to the store, could not find new hinges with perfectly matching holes. But the holes were close enough that I couldnt drill new holes in the wood cuz they would just spill over, make one giant hole, and not accommodate any screws.

Thought I should just replace the screws and not the hinges. The new screws poke out of one side, thru the plywood, and they are so fucking strong I could not cut them off with a cutting wheel or reciprocating saw. Looks like I'll have to try the Dremel, and if that doesnt work I am fucked.

Angle grinder.

Also bolt and nut is much better than screws.

Bolt and nut would not work for hinges on a door (small cheap flimsy locker made of plywood).
And I dont feel like spending the money on an angle grinder, but you are definitely correct.

No, you use bolt and nut to secure the hinge...

Dude, I've been so angry the last week or so. Summer won't just fuck off and die. I'm tired of stinky wet air, and sweating. I hope we get a winter this year. The last two have been worthless.

Well the local weather guy said by this coming Friday, the temp would be around 81-82 for the high. That would be more like Fall weather. I can handle cold weather better than hot plus humid.

Mine are still here but I'm south of you but it's like having pets. Can't go off unless you make provisions for someone to feed them.

A contractor is late so I have to wait out here in a beautiful desert until they show up. Don't they know that I could be in a cubicle pushing paper right now? Some people are so inconsiderate. All this beauty is really pissing me off. I think I'll go for another hike through the saguaro forest to calm down. Later.

Couldn't update my phone this morning. Downloaded the updates, press [Install], and nothing... No error, button just doesn't work. Fuck around with it a bit, including restarting and clearing cache, but still nothing. Get back to the office, and try some more. More reboots, more clearing cache(cause doing it again will give different results, right?), still won't work. Search the problem, and find something interesting. Seems screen filters keep the install button from working as a security feature, so you can't be tricked into installing malware, like the facebook app :^P

Nifty info, but I don't use screen filters. I'm puzzling over it, and trying to remember what I recently installed, when my eyes fall on the net monitor I use to view network speed/access. That could be an overlay. It didn't before, but I updated it a week ago. Kill that process, and my install button works again. Another job successfully completed! It would be nice if the install button threw an error when an overlay's in use instead of silently failing. The fact that it works is a good idea, but the implementation is brain dead. I was || close to using adb to install programs, which would be a real pita. Glad I searched first, but it was wasted time that didn't need to happen.

I dropped my Seiko automatic watch from the top of the drawer to the hard wood floor this morning (about 5 ft or so). Ouch. It is still running ok for now.

My cat just puked on the very tiny amount of carpet I have in the house. Every freaking time. I heard her but it was too late when I clapped my hands to try to stop her.

She's in time out now.

I keep cutting my ankles with my feet and or shoes because I don't know how to walk. You're not supposed to kick your ankles when you walk and I do know that but I keep doing it anyway. I need to get ankle guards or something. I suppose I could just wear heavy socks, but where's the fun in that.

lol speaking of foot injuries I went for a 10km walk a while back and got a nasty blister on my foot. It's STILL there. I may need to get that checked as it should have healed by now. It does not hurt anymore though, it only hurted for like a few days. I did not want to pop it given the location, it would be kinda hard to protect from infection.
