Couldn't update my phone this morning. Downloaded the updates, press [Install], and nothing... No error, button just doesn't work. Fuck around with it a bit, including restarting and clearing cache, but still nothing. Get back to the office, and try some more. More reboots, more clearing cache(cause doing it again will give different results, right?), still won't work. Search the problem, and find something interesting. Seems screen filters keep the install button from working as a security feature, so you can't be tricked into installing malware, like the facebook app :^P
Nifty info, but I don't use screen filters. I'm puzzling over it, and trying to remember what I recently installed, when my eyes fall on the net monitor I use to view network speed/access. That could be an overlay. It didn't before, but I updated it a week ago. Kill that process, and my install button works again. Another job successfully completed! It would be nice if the install button threw an error when an overlay's in use instead of silently failing. The fact that it works is a good idea, but the implementation is brain dead. I was || close to using adb to install programs, which would be a real pita. Glad I searched first, but it was wasted time that didn't need to happen.
