Spent this afternoon to do maint. tasks on my vehicle and when I started it to go out, the engine was hesitated and hard to start and it was late to go to the auto parts store. So I made a short run to McD because I had a coupon. Purchased 2 kid meals (B1G1) and the meals were small and the total price was a little over $6 after sale tax. So now I am home because I did not want to get stuck late at night from a potential bad battery. Will have to wait tomorrow morning so the auto parts store people can check the battery. It was less than 3 years old. Hopefully it will be fully cover under warranty.

What a day. At least it did not rain anymore (for now). So now I am here with you fools. :)

So I went to the same auto parts store (which installed a battery for me 2 years ago) this morning with the order print out and expected to get a new battery with no cost (still under 3 years free replacement warranty and I only had for about 2 years). The manager said since I ordered the battery online, she could not give me a free replacement, I would have to buy a new battery and get the money back from the website. I did not like it but I had no choice because the batter will not last much longer so I did have to ordered a new battery online from the computer in the store and paid it before the manager would let her guy to install a new battery.

Now I am chatting online with an agent from the online site. Big companies are something else.

Edit: Since I do not have the same bank/credit card that I paid for the battery 2 years ago, the auto parts company HQ will have to get involve and see how things will work. I will have to chat/call them tomorrow. What a mess.

Our local government requires ADC(a proprietary map company) map references, and it pisses me off. There's zero reason to own an ADC map except for that, and the government has no business mandating proprietary tools. Everyone has gps on their phone, or can purchase gps for a reasonable price. Lat/long is much more precise, and doesn't require data from a company that has no business being in business. I'm || close to getting into political activisim to change the rules, and find out who's getting kickbacks for this bullshit, but since it doesn't directly affect me, it's been ignored. So far...

^Proprietary map references?

So, they came up with their own grid system? Because projected UTM and geographic lat/long are for losers?

Oh, and I can't find braided USB big-B cables. Braided micro-B cables are easy to find, mini-Bs exist, but the only big-B is from Amazon and it has stupid LEDs on the ends.

Oh, it's even better than that. They changed the way they referenced maps at some point, so if you have an old copy, and can point to the property on the page, you can't reference it by the new format. Now there's probably some way you can convert the formats using some kind of (likely proprietary)tool, but it shouldn't exist in the first place. Paper atlases are a thing of the past. You used to be able to get them at 7-11, but I couldn't even say where to get one in person now. If you did find one in person, you could expect to pay ~$24, or the cost of a used android which has gps, and can run libre mapping software :^S

Found a good, small smoke alarm but it uses a lithium battery that's like $12 a pop. A 9v is like $5 a pop but buy in bulk/sale and it's down to around $2.

Best Buy opted to wait until the last possible moment to let me know that the game I preordered is being delayed a whole MONTH.

Now I could buy the digital version, but even after getting my CE key Blizzard won't give me a refund, only another key I have no use for. I could also check gamestop on launch to see if they have any copies but half the reason I got Gamers Club Unlocked at Best Buy was to save 20% off the $90 asking price. On the other hand the only way to not be screwed out money is to wait a whole month and wind up hopelessly behind everyone else in the guild. I'm screwed no matter what I do now. Damn Best Buy.

^Never physical again for me. I'm going full digital for games and music now. Decided on this after purging my trash and recycling dozens of CD/DVD cases -- I kept the covers/manuals.

I may be in the market for CR2 batteries but local stores either don't carry them or sell singles at $12 a pop. Then I go online to Amazon and they're $5 to $10 a pop. One local tech store has them $5 each too.

Then I go read reviews on Amazon.com and people are bitching about being sold loosies -- individual batteries delivered in a manila envelope.

How the hell did counterfeiting get so bad?

I'm also suspicious about the $100 Shure microphone I recently bought from a reputable store. That thing is, apparently, very heavily counterfeited.

Using steam or origin makes it so much easier to reinstall your stuff if you have to without worrying about where the discs are.

^Plus backing up is easy too. All I had to do was get a USB stick or external hard drive. I never bothered to backup my DVD/CD games.

Then there's also not having to worry about scratched disks. If data is bad, Steam has a tool to check. Delete and redownload.

I used to think that too but people still assume I'm gay. That's what happens when you're raised by a mother and grandmother.

My fwp is that tomorrow is recycle day and I have to walk all my crap all the way out to the curb. It's also garbage day so all together I'll need to make at least 4 trips. That's better than last time I suppose but I have no energy.

I'm still doing battle with the nuts on my bathroom faucet. Those suckers are fused to the metal washers which in turn are fused to the cast iron skeleton shell of the sink. I'm so tempted to get out the blow torch and cook them but I just know that I'd crack the enamel. So I've been patiently hitting the nuts with Liquid Wrench. I also have some PB Blaster on order that is supposed to be the shiznitz.

Add to that the fact that the frigging nuts are some weird ass size. They look to be something between 1 1/16 and 1 1/8 so 1 3/32 I guess. Except I can't find a wrench that size. The best I can do is 28mm. The calipers say 28mm on the nose but those bastards have lied to me before.

Do you have a basin wrench? Assuming this is the right tool? Disclaimer: I'm not a handyman, don't know shit.

I had to help some cheap, never think ahead person do a kitchen sink. He didn't bother buying tools, he just used what his dad had which was nothing but regular horizontal wrenches. Regular wrenches don't work well in a confined space with a hose/pipe running down the middle.

Turns out there's something called a basin wrench that appears to solve that problem. Who'd have guessed that humans would invent a tool to work around obvious problems...

Edit: And the LED on my XLR to USB adapter is really bright. I have to return my Apple Earpods because I can't find an adapter that reliably maps the pins from TRRS to TRS properly -- microphone/ground pins are reversed. Getting $40 back ain't too bad but I have to go to Best Buy during Frosh week near a university.

I found a set of ViceGrips on the side of the highway. They had been rained on, snowed on, and salted who knows how many times, and were rusted up tighter than a drum. On a whim, I thought I'd try to free them up, but wasn't expecting success. Looking in walmart, I was debating between the old standby LiquidWrench, and PBlaster which I wasn't familiar with. I got the PBlaster, and sprayed them down. Within minutes I could get the joints loose and the screw turning. A little more work, and they were completely free of crud, and working good. Dunno if it was better than LiquidWrench, but I was pleased with the product, and will definitely get it again.
