After years of following anandtech for tech news, whenever I see the acronym "IDF" I still either think "Israeli defense force" or I completely brainfart and read it as "DTF."

Do you have a basin wrench? Assuming this is the right tool? Disclaimer: I'm not a handyman, don't know shit.

https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-WRN92001-Wrench-Capacity-11-Inch/dp/B01D4ZF0HA/

I had to help some cheap, never think ahead person do a kitchen sink. He didn't bother buying tools, he just used what his dad had which was nothing but regular horizontal wrenches. Regular wrenches don't work well in a confined space with a hose/pipe running down the middle.

Turns out there's something called a basin wrench that appears to solve that problem. Who'd have guessed that humans would invent a tool to work around obvious problems...

Edit: And the LED on my XLR to USB adapter is really bright. I have to return my Apple Earpods because I can't find an adapter that reliably maps the pins from TRRS to TRS properly -- microphone/ground pins are reversed. Getting $40 back ain't too bad but I have to go to Best Buy during Frosh week near a university.
Thanks. I do have one of those and if the nuts weren't frozen in place, I might have a chance with it. But even with the big ass adjustable wrench that goes out past 28mm, I still can't budge the nut. And that with putting on, tightening it and banging it with a small ball peen hammer. It just sits there laughing at me. Well laughing and coughing, it's covered in so much crud.

And you're right, it's tight working under there. I don't have much room between the sink and the wall to 'get up in there.' But I do have some room on the sides so with a hex wrench, if I keep changing the aspect (flipping it over), I should be able to get a full turn every 8-16 moves of the wrench.

edit - plus the nuts are only about 1/8 to 3/16 thick which makes them hard to grip

I found a set of ViceGrips on the side of the highway. They had been rained on, snowed on, and salted who knows how many times, and were rusted up tighter than a drum. On a whim, I thought I'd try to free them up, but wasn't expecting success. Looking in walmart, I was debating between the old standby LiquidWrench, and PBlaster which I wasn't familiar with. I got the PBlaster, and sprayed them down. Within minutes I could get the joints loose and the screw turning. A little more work, and they were completely free of crud, and working good. Dunno if it was better than LiquidWrench, but I was pleased with the product, and will definitely get it again.
Yeah, I've read great things about that stuff. Never heard of it before I started researching. I was going to reach for the old WD40 but I figured, shit. It's the 21st century dude, there's got to be something better than that out there by now. Spend a couple minutes and google that shit.

I left for a doctors appointment this morning on I10 and ran into a gridlocked interstate very early in my journey. The real time navigation prompted me to take the exit before the parking lot so I was able to avoid joining them as well as see the stopped traffic on the road as I made my way down the adjacent highway.

Awhile back, a coworker damaged the front bumper of my work truck, requiring the replacement of the bumper. I asked the shop to leave all that plastic air dam crap off the bumper and just leave me the parts so I could have them installed when it comes time to replace the truck. I use the truck off road so the air dam is just a part waiting to break. The shop insisted that they had to replace the air dam as it was important for engine cooling. Today, it got busted off while I was crossing a small ravine. It pisses me off that truck manufacturers build high clearance, four wheel drive trucks and then hang stupid ass plastic crap almost to the ground on the front end.

^Sounds like repair people knew that part would come off again and it'd be stupid not to replace it since you'd have to replace it again with them.

And I just found out Palo Alto is next to San Francisco, not Los Angeles like I thought for the past few years...

Trying to decide what island I want to be on for my 30th bday in Feb. Also wondering if we want to rent a house or just do a resort. I think a Sandals all inclusive will save my wallet on stupid booze costs in the end. I don't plan on being sober for at least 4 days.

Stayed up late last night waiting for the Battlefield 1 Open Beta to start and it never did. I see it's up now though. I am jonesin (to get smoked) for this game.

And I'm on "on-call" for work Tuesday and Wednesday this week, AND this will be my first weekend for it (and a long one due to holiday, at that). Thankfully last night went really well but I'm so unfamiliar with the system that I'm nervous every frickin time I'm on-call. I just fucking HATE having to work when I'm not at work. I've said it before, but I'm not someone who derives any self-worth or pride from their job. It's just a job, and I wanna be done when I walk out the door. Man I've got it fuckin rough. FML

Have to decide between leftover pizza or leftover corned beef and potatoes for supper. It's also raining right now and I am leaving to go home in 30 minutes. Sure hope it stops so I don't get drenched.

I keep receiving alerts for the fact that I'm under a tropical storm watch but I don't feel threatened enough to do anything about it.

Looks like I'm finally comfortable listening/editing my own voice. The catch is that I'm comfortable because I don't know who the fuck that person I'm listening to is because he doesn't sound like the asshole I've been listening to for 30 years. Damn bass/sound distortion due to skull/meat in head.

And my dynamic mic picked up my computer after normalizing the audio. FML. Guess it's still probably better than if I got a condenser mic.

Do like me and put the computer in another room. I wanted it more quiet in here so I moved my machines to the server room. Have a Windows one for gaming and Linux one as daily driver so was running out of leg room under the desk, it was noise, in summer it was hot, and it attracted too much dust.

I still need to implement a remote on/off/reset button though. I already installed terminals on the back of the boxes for that just have to run the wire.

As far as a FWP: I want to build myself a new computer desk, but I have no room in my garage to comfortably work because I have too much stuff in there. The snow blower and other such toys take up too much space. I want to build a shed but I spent that money on air conditioning instead. I might still do it though...

My computer clock changed after 11:59:59 pm. What the hell is this 9/1/2016... Holy shit, summer is over! Barely felt it with all the A/C.

It happened again today. I had to get up before the sun rose and take a leak but was able to lay back down afterwards. When I got up it was light outside along with the sound of rain from one of Hermine's feeder bands passing through the area. I'm glad that he chose to travel towards the big bend area instead of coming over here to the east coast. I hope that no lingering effects are present of Saturday so my plans to BBQ aren't interrupted.:p
