Nah it's those late night cups of coffee before bed that I've been indulging in lately. When I wake up and find that I've pissed myself like a small child then I'll have to consider medical care.:D

Gotta go return my Earpods at Best Buy but there's a VIP sale. Hope it's deserted but all the kiddies have moved into their dorms nearby.

Now the first strong feeder band from Hermine is passing through my area and the potential for severe weather is increasing. Nevertheless I'm still at my pc doing my thing.

Lives in Timmins, bitches about the darkness.

Beats a crowded city with ridiculous commutes and house prices though. We do get super long days for the 2 months of summer that we get. 10pm and it's getting dark out, and starts to get bright by 4am. Pretty surreal. Too bad that's short lived though.

Been toying with going solar, but the short days is really the biggest issue. I'd get good use out of it maybe for 4-5 months. Suppose it would still be fine in winter though, just need to ensure it can fully charge the battery bank in 8h and that the battery bank can last the rest of that time. Would probably need generator or other source half way through the night to top up batteries. Or just need to only run some stuff off it and not everything.

Too tired to drive to Popeyes which is an inconvenient 5 miles away.

So I asked my wife to pickup dinner.

Spicy Popeyes chicken and dirty rice plus a cold Coke - yummmmy.

Back to my car battery saga. The auto parts website did return the fee for the core charge ($20) and the missing discount ($8). Now I will have to wait for the full refund of the previous purchased battery ($90). Out of pocket total for this new battery is about $35.

Because you live in the arctic, you may want to look at thermal solar panels for heating, not photo-voltaic or PV. Thermal ones circulate a liquid through the panels, use the sun to heat the panels + liquid, then use the heated liquid to heat a building. May need to install heat pipes all over your house though, I forget how exactly it works. Your Heating Degree Days has to be pretty high up there.

And my own problem: they took away all the Amazon gift cards at my local store. FML, I gotta use my credit card.

You have to leave the basement once in a while.
Screw that. I spend as much time as possible in my 1 window AV room. And that window has a room darken shade. Come spring, my carefully cultivated pallor is blinding.

You might be able to use the panels to feed the reservoir of a heat pump. Only thing is, I don't think the reservoir type are the most common. I think most use the pump and dump method with ground water since it's always at a constant temperature.

Awww.... I bought 2 bags of gummy candies and they're fresh -- I like them old, stale, and hard.

There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I.... did what?

So, years ago, an acquaintance ghosted me just before I sent a birthday gift card from Amazon. Was going through my previous orders and it still wasn't redeemed -- she was the principled type, more so than me cause I would of spent it as a last "fuq you" message.

Should I ask Amazon to refund me the balance or not... It was 3 years ago.

Can't hurt to ask.

My sink saga is over and I am victorious but I bear the scars of a battle hard fought.

I had to drill through one brass nut to create a gap. Then, as I tried to chisel off the rest, the bastard started to turn. Guess I was banging in the right direction. Huh. So that came off pretty easily. The washer underneath also came right off. I'm sure P Blaster had a lot to do with both of those outcomes.

The other intake was even easier. I disconnected the line so I could use an offset 28mm box wrench. The edges weren't as rounded as the other one and it came right off with a couple hammer hits.

But the kicker was the last part. you would think that now the faucet should leap merrily off the sink and into the trash. Oh, no, no, no. The guy that installed this packed the entire bottom of the fixture and the intake holes with some sort of cement. Holy shit.

I banged on the intakes under the sink - nothing. Tried to pry it off from up top, nothing. Finally got a piece of wood, braced it against metal house and wailed on that mofo. It did finally relent.

Installing the new faucet took all of about 10 minutes.

News outlets saying Samsung may be recalling their Note 7 because of battery fires. I am disappoint that lithium-ion battery makers still don't have the tech down to a T -- means I never charge my lithium-ion batteries unless I'm nearby and conscious, and I'll stick to 1 amp or lower chargers.

On a tangent, my buddy got a Note 7 & it has probably the best mobile screen I've ever seen, hands-down. He had a graphing calculator app on it and it just looked real.

Also, a coworker got the Galaxy 7 & said it has the worst calling of any phone he's ever had. Can't get a signal anywhere & other than the new LTE voice stuff, sounds pretty crappy.

The engineers design safe batteries.
Then the fucking bean counters tell their CEO they can save a million bucks by using a child-labor factory and hope to god they dont get sued for more than 1 million dollars after all the accidents.

It's early again and I'm up. The winds from Hermine started banging the soffit and the gate along with rushing along the sides of the house which woke me up. I'm waiting to hear the snap from a tree damaged from the last tropical storm giving way. Surprisingly enough none of my neighbors car alarms have gone off yet. The day is just getting started with this large feeder band and it wouldn't surprise me to see some short lived tornadoes kick off soon.

'BREAKING NEWS: HURRICANE HERMINE HITS FLORIDA COAST. '

Really? This was predicted a week ago. Make sure to scare the fuck out of everyone so they pick up an extra loaf of bread. The pussification of America grows a little bit more today.

Microphone drama... Windows 7 does not appear to like me plugging in a USB soundcard and USB mic adapter with its own output. Tried to output sound through speakers while using mic from adapter, ended up destroying my USB soundcard drivers -- stopped working. Restart and hard off didn't fix, had to unplug/replug.

And I sent something across a table trying to pull the USB plug from my USB mic adapter. They made the spring crazy tight, probably because it's designed to be hauled around.
