I can understand the appeal of poutine when the weather is colder than polar bear balls but not in the summer heat.
Oddly it's considered more a "summer food" as all the chip stands open in summer - though there's plenty of places to get it in winter too. I tend to eat it all year round myself. :p Ended up going to pick one up, and grabbed a Timmy's on the way. I'm feeling more Canadian than usual. If I manage to incorporate maple syrup into my diet today, I will reach my final form.

Just poured a glass of Famous Grouse. I hadn't even righted the bottle before seeing the ouzo on the counter, and thought that's what I really wanted. FML. I'm already half lit from the strong G&T I made. I won't have room for ouzo after finishing my scotch :'^(

I was installing fluorescent fixtures I got for free from work, and went to Home Depot to get some screws and washers for mounting them, then I realized I forgot to buy a metal plate to put over one of the openings that I won't be using. Home Depot is now closed, so I have to wait till next time I can go to finish it.

I dropped a box of ~20 fluorescent CFL bulbs off at a store. None of the bulbs were broken when I individually bagged, bubble-wrapped, and boxed them. No accidents between packing and the store. Nonetheless, first thing the attendant did was unbag the bulbs without asking anything. I can understand losing the box and bubble-wrap, but leave the bag for the person with the protective gear at the recycling factory in case it is broken...

The last time I went, I dropped one bulb off, and told/wrote down that the bulb was broken so don't think the person opened the bag.

I've seen photos of used CFL bulbs destined for "recycling" stored in 50 gallon-ish drums. And I've seen drop-off bins that were a few feet tall with openings at the top. How can glass survive a 3' to 4' drop? The whole reason they're recycled is cause they contain mercury. From the way this whole "recycling" is handled, it looks like no one gives a shit that the goal is to keep the mercury contained until it gets to a controlled recycling depot.

^ Yep it's sad, I sometimes wonder if they even do get recycled at all. At my work place my boss and coworker were just doing some misc building cleanup stuff on a slow day, one of those gray areas outside of job description, but stuff that never got done and was suppose to so they said screw it, let's just do it. They had like 40+ neon tubes to dispose of and went to the dump and ask if they have a special place for them, they said nope, just throw it with regular trash. They were kinda stumped at this level of incompetence. I don't know what they ended up doing with the bulbs.

Another time someone I know changes his own motor oil and went to the dump, there's a place to dispose of it, but there's a ridiculous limit, like 2 litres. The attendant suggested he just put it in a glass jar and go burry it somewhere. WTF?

Went to Taco Bell and Kroger and met with clueless and borderline rude frontline employees. At least the temperature is cooling down now, not in the 90s during the night, for now.

I was reading over one of my class project papers and decided that I didn't like the language mechanics that I'd used so I ended up modifying it heavily over the course of the day. It's 5 pages beyond what the professor asked for but that's how I roll y'all.

In Toronto, fluorescent lamps, batteries, and other hazardous items are listed as only disposable at certain dump sites. Nothing's stopping anyone from pouring it down the drain or putting it in with the garbage though -- read somewhere that ~70% of CFLs go in the trash. And training is probably non-existent at stores/dumps -- just like everywhere else.

Fffff... this is a huge reason why I stopped giving a shit about being "green." It's lip-service meant to enrich certain companies/people and boost some egos.

I ate too much dairy for supper, stomac is a bit upset. It never used to before, but now I find I have to watch dairy intake. Had two wraps with lot of cheese, then finish off with ice cream. I probably could have done without the ice cream. :p

Actually, had cheese and crackers for lunch too. Yeah I definitely pushed it today. :p And it was all real cheese, none of that Singles slices stuff.

I went to a local Mexican restaurant, got a Corona with dinner, and it wasn't skunked! I like skunked Corona. I only get it occasionally when I eat at a Mexican joint, and look forward to the... umm... unique flavor.

Uuuugh I have Takata side curtain airbags in my Prius
I have an '08 honda and I figured it was just a matter of time until I got my recall notice - sho' nuff. Couple weeks ago. But they don't tell you that you have to call the dealer and tell them to order the part for you.

Another thing that was funny was that they say that you shouldn't have any passengers in the the front seat until the igniter or whatever it's called is replaced. So I guess I have to tell them to sit in the seat in back of mine since that's the only place that would be relatively safe.

My recall notice said "we are aware of the possible risk of shrapnel to the face but do not have a solution. we will notify you when a solution becomes available".

Hmmm... I think someone in the family has a Honda Civic, 2010 model. It may be on the recall list. I'd say something, but he's a fucking cu*t.

Edit: O....kay.... The recall list updated in the U.S. of A. for Honda includes the 2010 and 2011 Civic. It's not on the Canadian list I found. However, I know that Honda has a factory for Civics in my province that, I'm assuming, ships to the U.S. of A. I also doubt factories in Canada and the U.S. would use different vendors for airbags.

Time for a negative Yelp review.

Power company supposed to turn power off most of the day tomorrow but some massive storm going through the area starting in the morning. Most likely, the work will be delayed until Wednesday, but I still have to turn crap off in case them come. OMFG.

I had a first world problem of the week!

Took me 5 days to figure out why my websites wouldn't load as fast as they could. After doing everything and anything up to and including changing my home IP address, I found out that it was my host blocking the local edge server for CloudFlare.

So he rewhitelisted the damn IP's to CloudFlare and everything went back to normal. Thank God for HAR files.
