What first world problem did you have today?

Since I still live in the third world, I've never been able to come up with a first world problem.
But now I finally have an excuse to enter this glorious thread.

FML! I went outside today to start on a new drip irrigation system for part of my yard today. The sun came out and it got up to about 75F!

I almost broke into a sweat! 😱

I'm hungry, but I don't particularly want to eat any of the free food in the work breakroom. They're out of my favorite snacks 🙁

Ran a few miles too many last night and my calves are killing me. In addition, my appetite is through the roof but I don't have any food left except Trader Joe's green tea mints and some gum. Won't be eating for another 3 hours. I might die.

i ran out of the vanilla creamer i normally use, and had to use the hazel nut one for my coffee.

Can't find a way to import old emails into Outlook 2010. I made a thread about it over in the Software for Windows forum a couple hours ago. *hint* *hint* 🙂

Ikea's having a back to school desk sale... I can save like $30 on a desk I don't need or want that much but I'm over budget for the month... unless I waste $6 to go to the Ikea store and buy gift cards with my "petty cash" to get it shipped.

And my book from Oregon hasn't gotten here yet.

Edit: Just remembered. I was at Ikea recently and someone in front of me bought about $200 worth of candles. Serious question: the hell do you do with $200 worth of block candles? They didn't look like preppers.

OMFGBBQ. All Ikea related.

#1: The "zip code" (postal code) for my delivery address got changed to my fake postal code I use to check shipping costs -- it's for a place I used to work at. I wouldn't have manually changed it but it may have gotten mapped over while I checked out online, or I used it at the store while checking out and they updated my info. Looks like it's only been happening for the past 3-ish orders. Now I feel bad for dicking the Fed Ex people around accidentally -- never had an order go missing, but I noticed it on my address label finally.

#2: My new 60W LED Ikea bulbs don't fit many of my piece of shit cheap fixtures -- even one from Ikea. They were all bought during the CFL years so may have been made extra small for them. But how the hell do they fit incandescent bulbs then? These new LEDs aren't that fat, just fatter than CFLs. Now I have to run back to the store to exchange them for 40W bulbs -- 3 hour job, FML. And for some reason the 60W bulb buzzes while the 40W doesn't. Not that loud but still annoying when it's quiet and the bulb's placed lower.

I contacted my VA team to see what happened to my prescription that they were supposed to refill for me last week only to discover that they'd dropped the ball. Once again I had to explain to my nurse that I needed the doctor to write a new one as the old one had no refills left on it. Exactly how hard is that to understand? Maybe they'll get it right this time.

Found out that Dish has a 4k channel for the olympics so I finally get to try out my new 70" tv. Turns out that the only thing they have shown on it is Judo and reruns from the previous day. Oh well back to streaming decent events on multiple monitors.

Was tired as hell today, and fell asleep listening to the radio. Missed most of Gary Johnson on On Point. Would have been a nice sanity check after the constant barrage of the Dipshit & wise and beautiful woman Show© :^(

Got a sun burn from the new forum theme.

Someone has to meme this with "YOU GONNA GET SKIN CANCER."

Seriously, I go overboard on protecting my skin from sun damage but looking at family members and my skin's reaction to sun, the chances are pretty low.

Person with orange hair, on the other hand...

yeah I tend to avoid sun and go overboard with sun block, that day I just kind of never even considered it till it was too late. Was at my parent's for a family gathering and everybody was outside. I normally try to find shade but there was none where everyone was and there was enough clouds that I felt they were enough. They wern't.

Worse is I had a planned camping trip to bring my nephew camping, I so did not feel like going considering I was sun burned badly, but went given it's something you have to pay for and I had already told him we were going. The first day was not so bad, purposely left late so sun was not as strong since it was like 8pm and there was also more shade as it was starting to get lower.

The day after was a bit of a challenge though, sun was pretty strong, but did manage to find some shade when fishing, I just had to take a break once in a while and go sit in it while he kept fishing. It worked out nicely since i got to see a bear and get pictures. 😛 Would not have seen that bear if I had not went around that corner.

I can't stand sunscreen and it gets in my eyes after a couple hours then burns the crap out of them while my contacts are in so it takes a long time to flush out.

Therefore, I usually carry a sweater with a hood and a hat with me. It's not thick but thick enough to block most light. Sweat like hell but sweat washes off unlike skin cancer -- heat stroke doesn't so gotta watch for that...

Ugh, so I just got strung into helping my sister with a power point presentation which means I have to go to bed early tonight and get up early tomorrow, which is my last day off until I have to work over 10 shifts in a row.

I don't get why "being good at computers" ends up making me stuck doing that. Why don't people learn to control their own presentations, they know when to change the slides more than anybody else will. There's a guy at my church who is bad for that, he shows up with a couple pictures on USB "I want to display these". No power point presentation even created. End up having to make it right there on the spot 5 minutes before the sermon.

I so don't want to do it. I have this weird pain in my foot that has developed over the last few days and I was trying to avoid any kind of walking or moving. Tomorrow is also the last day I have to get to the ER if it gets worse, now that's blown. I'll make apt with doctor either way, but then I have to wait a few months to see him. I hate to go to ER for non threatening situations but it's sometimes the only way to see a doctor in a reasonable time span. There is the clinic but the hours are super spotty and you wait super long.

You have not yet mastered strategic incompetence. It is important to be good at your job and very good at the job you would like to move into. It is equally important to not be good at stuff that will derail your career. Employees generally want to be of service in anyway they can but doing so may leave one stuck in support positions forever.

I used to see this happen to women with engineering degrees. They would step up to tackle GIS issues, data management, or other non-career path tasks only to find themselves stuck in non-professional positions.

Tried fixing a remote server with dying drives. failed. Now I have to drive to the remote location (300 miles R/T) in some blistering heat tomorrow.

I swapped out a ton of bulbs and now have almost 30 CFL bulbs to dispose of. Not sure if big box store will take a box of 20 bubble-wrapped bulbs... then another box of 10... especially if I have nothing to buy there. I should make this Ikea's problem since I bought a dozen new bulbs from them but their bin only takes like one at a time and the other big box store is closer.

And I almost dropped a huge glass shade/diffuser. Piece of shit was like 15" in diameter and the mount required one hand to pull an arm out while somehow holding a huge, heavy piece of glass in the other. Luckily, it slammed into a newly mounted plastic LED bulb on the way down so I managed to grab it in time. Can't help but think if it was a CFL bulb, it would have exploded.

I've sort of did this with Windows actually. I refuse to even look at windows 8 or 10 computers (though sometimes still get stuck doing it). I tell people I run Linux now and I don't know much about those OSes, but I'd be glad to reinstall it and put 7 if they want, but they're going to lose all their stuff (saves me from having to backup and restore everything if I just tell them that). I can't stand working with 8, what a terrible OS. 10 is not quite as bad but still not fun to work with.

Noticed a .99 Apple charge on my credit card. The wife PAID for a hint on the free flow (?) game because she was about to lose her 76 day streak....
