What first world problem did you have today?

ordered a new CPL from amazon, they 1) sent me the wrong size (77mm, needed the 105) and 2) sent me just the plastic filter case it comes in with no filter. I don't think the filter was ever in it as there isn't even an indentation in the foam from where it would have been

Series only adds voltage, not current. 6 of them would give you 7.5 with 750 mAh. If you put 6 in parallel, you would get 1.25V at 4500 mAh. To get 7.5 at 4500, you would need 36 total in a series-parallel configuration. It may be easier to visualize if you compare watt/hours. That AAA cell has .9375 watt hours. 6 of them in series have 5.625. 6 of them in parallel have the same 5.625 watt hours. 7.5 Volts at 4500 mAh is 33.75 watt hours.

I'm clearly not good at electrical stuff...

Thanks for the explanation. I've been playing with flashlights lately and have seen run-times explode after adding an extra battery in, what I assumed, was series. Guessing that's because the wattage draw is the same, voltage goes up so amperage goes down?

P.S. Still, I can buy Eneloop Pros with 950 mAh. For 6, that's around $35. My camera battery is over $100, so 3x or 4x for an extra ~100 mAh.

Batteries in series = resistance would be big though? And probably other reasons why they go with lithium-ion. Sigh...

I want my fiber to the home completed. They installed the interface box on the outside of my house and ran the drop fiber to it. They won't turn it on until September at the earliest.

Adding in series increases voltage but amperage is constant. So total wattage increases. That means you can fry a bulb or LED that is not rated for the higher power draw.

I used Amdro gopher gas today on the tunnel system in the yard in an attempt to gas the little critter out since he managed to avoid my traps yet again. This is a very frustrating problem and this particular mole is very sensitive to everything around him in the yard.

I was watching Death Parade on Kiss Anime when a banner ad told me hot asians wanted to talk to me. Deep down though I know it's a lie. :'(

Let us know how it works. You might have to gas multiple entrances at once.

I hit 6 different areas of the yard one right after the other including the flower bed, along the front and side of the house and underneath the driveway leading back to the flower bed. I'm hoping to not see any new tunneling in the yard at which point I will be happy. One of gas bombs started leaking out of the ground by a sprinkler head so I had to pack dirt around it to keep the gas sealed in his tunnel. In the flower bed I hit the corners at the same time to prevent him from fleeing the gas. I wanted overkill there as he's been operating out of it. If I do see any new activity I'll gas it too.

Wow, impressive. Good luck.

As luck would have it I walked around the house a few minutes ago and lo and behold new tunnels have appeared along the sides of the house. Now I've got to get more gas to bomb them with.

Trying to read about yesterday's police shooting but can't find articles about it because all the media is focused on TODAY'S police shooting. 😵

EDIT: Also, the EVGA GTX1070 FTW has finally been released but I can't find it in stock anywhere. 🙁

It is freaking too hot outside to do anything so I ate my lunch at my desk and not went out for lunch (heat index is in the low 100s right now).

While in the lunch room microwaving my lunch a bit ago I overheard a discussion about that recent alligator attack in Florida at Disney where the two year old boy died.

One girl was adamant that the father, and perhaps mother (but father for sure), murdered the boy and they're just blaming it on the gator. One reason was because the kid was found at the bottom of the water instead of floating (which means he was killed earlier than he was supposed to have been and therefore had sunk?). And I think she said he wasn't injured too. I don't really recall any other specific reasons she said, besides her reason to the other girl in the conversation that "not all people are good people."

I didn't think she was very bright to begin with, judging by how she (can't) handles dirty dishes, so this coming from her doesn't surprise me I guess.

So I guess my first world problem is... I was surrounded (ok, not exactly "surrounded") by idiocy in the break room at work today.

does the package say how amdro works? If the gas doesn't leave a residue then that means the old tunnels can be re-occupied.

You might need to get a friend and do a coordinated attack.

Something flew off a truck and cracked my windshield. Luckily it's starting on the passenger side so I have some time before I should replace it

I dropped tomcat poison into the new tunnels today and tomorrow I plan to gas the hell out of it again. I did find a new run in the middle of the back yard that runs into the neighbors yard so I'm going to hit it in two different places to spread the wealth for Mr. Mole.

Could it be a source issue rather than those devices?

Na, using the same source as my old 2.1 bookshelf system. If the base could be turned down a bit, I'd be happier, but it still ain't my old system -- new speakers are like 1/10 the size which is why I changed.

And I cut my nose while shaving today. FML. Went full retard and ran the blade across the edge of my nose.

Tired of leftover, but don't want to cook or go out to eat so I eat some can food. Not very healthy and nutritious.

Is this starting to feel a little like Caddy Shack?

Good luck 🙂

When I pulled up the last victor out o sight trap this morning that mole had dug a new tunnel underneath it as well so poison and gas are going to be my tools for this critter. Watch Bill Murray in Caddyshack is definitely more entertaining than chasing down this mole.

Sorta a first world problem I guess, a tough decision I need to make. So the asshole IT manager at the hospital I used to work at retired. I had quit there mostly because of him. I was working for the same company I work for now as a contractor, but he was basically my boss. He eventually in-sourced and hired his own guys (makes sense for that environment) and around that same time I got my current job so I moved but stayed with same company.

Now I have a potential opportunity to go work back there but FOR them, as I'm sure if I was to put in my resume they'd probably hire me back. Everybody there liked me, except for the IT manager. Oddly he never did find a replacement for me, as his requirements were ridiculous. There is no actual job opening though, so this is all hypothetical.

I love my current job and the hours, and it probably even pays a bit more than I'd make there. I've actually hit 80k one year, usually do about 75k. The problem with my current job is that the company is constantly doing restructuring, nobody knows from one day to the next if they'll have a job, so there is always that looming stress. It's been that way since the very beginning that I started working there, and even before. Lot of people have been laid off in the process too, so it's not just talk, there is action too.

So now I need to decide if I move back to the hospital which would be more secure, or stick to this gravy train with a slightly higher risk of potentially losing my job in the future.

This is a scenario I've often run through my mind, but now it's for real. I think I will stick with my current job though. Next summer I will hit my 10 year anniversary and also get another week of vacation.

We just secured a 3 year union contract (well 2 because it took over a year to do it) and just based on what is in it I'm fairly faithful there's no plans to shut us down. We are actually getting more work.

Decisions decisions...
