Was shopping at Publix yesterday, it was pouring so I parked at the far end of the lot so the walk to the covered walk-way would be short. Upon returning to my car the front wheel of the cart suddenly locked up, I looked and saw it had a "boot" type device that had activated, this was invented to prevent cart theft. Now I'm looking at leaving my groceries there (unprotected) or dragging the disabled cart to the car, I chose the later and got soaked doing so. After getting the bags in my trunk I turned my fury on the cart by picking it up and slamming it violently on the ground. I asked an employee today why the cart's lock-up while still in the parking lot and she said that people were taking the carts and filling them with personal stuff and pushing them into an adjoining storage facility. My first thought was the storage place is brand new and someone's always there, why would they let people do that shit?, I then told employee that a sign needs to be posted so future customers won't park too far off only to find out the cart will auto-lock 75 feet from the store entrance.

I put 47 cans of "coke" beside an extension cord that leads to my computer and thought about what would happen if a single can leaked... It's only ever happened when the cans were stored in a non-heated room, but ya, shit happens and the cost of insurance doesn't seem very steep. Now I have to go buy a $4 bucket to store the cans in for insurance tomorrow...

Find a housing construction site, look in the dumpster. I almost guarantee you'll find a free bucket. Use a knife to cutout the old paint.

The deal I got on a PS4 last month was for the non limited edition Battlefront Playstation that didn't have the ultra badass Vader image etched onto the casing. I had to make do with a $10 sticker off ebay that doesn't look quite 100% authentic. :(

Lost my favorite beanie @ tennis this morning. Went back and checked the court I was on, the locker room, the lobby and everywhere in between and it's nowhere to be found. :( :( :( A ton of my sweat went into that thing. It will be missed.

my local poolhall had a Thurs special:
free pool 8pm-close with $10 purchase. and happy hr food + drink specials end at 9pm.
win/win for me.

went there yesterday at 8:30pm since I wasn't working fri.
they changed it at the beginning of the year to:
$5 pool 9pm-close. (happy hr specials the same)

so I just ordered 3 beers ($1.50 each) at the bar and no food since I don't need $10 min anymore.
then got a table at 9pm. the $5 was added to my bar tab.

so not only did I spend less ($9.50 vs $12+ because I didn't order appetizers), the waitress that serviced the tables got nothing since my bill is w/the bar.
lose/lose for the poolhall
Not sure how this is a problem...

You need a better class of junkie. An experienced junkie would just take a non-locking wheel from another cart and replace the locking wheel. I hate lazy junkies.

My first world problem - bowling shoes. Went last night and had to rent shoes since I hardly ever bowl. But the sides were too high and cut into my ankle. So now my ankle has a boo-boo. I called today and asked if they had other shoes I could wear and it turns out that they have 2 types and I just happened to get the ones that are cut high so need to ask for the other kind tonight. If they don't have my size, I won't be able to play but I won't know until I get there.

I didn't get a flu shot (free) because I was lazy. Now I have a cold, maybe start of flu. :( At least I won't catch autism.

I bought this shit called "tonic water" because I've never had any before knowingly... Considering that it tastes kind of like ass, I am perplexed as to where the 130 calories, probably from the sugar, go -- Coca Cola is like 140 calories.

Also, I bought a prepackaged/precooked paneer meal. Product of India... Saw that on the label and had to take a step back at the store. Then I opened it, saw glue gun type glue all over the top, and the plastic pouch the food was stored in felt greasy. Probably not going to buy this again. But I'll still eat it cause I'm a cheap bastard.

I just bought two shelf packs of those from BigLots yesterday. Not the paneer, but a couple different curries. I love them, and at the BigLots price of $2 each(yesterday was $1.60 each), it makes a cheap easy dinner. I put scorpion sauce in them to boost the heat, and if I'm doing a full dinner, I'll make rice, and quick fry some pre-made naan.

edit
scorpion pepper sauce that is. We don't have fresh scorpions around here :^D

I'm having a gin and tonic right now.

Alright, some gin and tonics, I mean. :sneaky:

This is the only way to drink tonic water. Shit is gross otherwise.

I remember the first time I ever had a gin and tonic my first thought was "I am drinking an alcoholic pine tree." I looked up the history of the drink on wikipedia, and apparently the British used to drink tonic water to combat malaria. In order to make the tonic water palatable they would put gin in it. I'm surprised that the drink is still around considering how most people find tonic water unappealing.

I'm guessing you already realize I wasn't talking about you and you're just busting my chops, but in case you're not, I wasn't. I was thinking that any decent junkie would laugh at those wheel locks and carts would disappear anyway.

I think real tonic water has quinine in it. It is definitely bitter but I don't know if the stuff made today has the same amount - a therapeutic amount for malaria. I doubt it. I like the stuff personally but it's hard to get real tonic water.

Just ate the bag... shit was good. Questionable packaging though. Price was only ~$2.50 at Wal-mart -- surprisingly cheap because the package next to it from a different brand was $4.

Just checked a can... quinine hydrochloride. Reminds me of ginger ale minus a lot of sugar with more ass.

Huh. Interesting. I could have sworn I checked most of the brands and they didn't have it so I had to buy this specialty brand that was something like a buck a bottle. I'll check next time. Maybe the difference is the amount of quinine. But there really isn't any way to determine that w/o doing GCMS on it.

I'm in Canada if that matters. Bought President's Choice brand stuff cause it was on sale.

Probably not, especially for a store brand. PC is Sam's I think, right? I was going to say that since Canada is part of the UK that maybe people there expect genuine tonic water, but nah. I don't really see that. Canada is probably closer to the US than England in terms of culture.
