My upstairs neighbors cut their son's hair yesterday and rather than throwing the hair in a trash can like normal functioning adults, they decided to throw their son's hair out their front window. Most of the hair landed on the window ledge right in front of our window. Since our window was open, a shit ton of human hair blew into our unit. I fucking hate my neighbors.

FedEx sucks. I used them a few times to send packages using ground shipping. In their store they have a big map showing how quickly things can get to each part of the US. I sent something within the 2-day geography window using ground shipping. They accepted the package and then let it sit in the store for 3 days without moving, then 2 days to ship and deliver. I asked them wtf happened and they told me that, because I had purchased ground shipping, they technically had 5 days to deliver the package and they did deliver it in 5 days. They are technically correct but it is annoying watching the package just sit in the store for 3 days not in transit.

I just wanted to watch MLB baseball tonight but my out of market team isn't on TV. I tried to find a working stream but none of them worked. I think AdGuard Home on my Raspberry Pi DNS has the ads on these websites all blocked, which means the video stream never loads. Too tired to fuss around with it so I won't be able to watch the game.

Booking a hotel. Look at Expedia and find hotel, then look at hotel website directly. Price is 15% cheaper on Expedia. I call the hotel and ask if I can book with them directly at the Expedia price and they say no. I don't understand why they would want me to book through a third party website rather than their own website.

None of that shit is recyclable. If the recycling company came and took it, it would get sent to the dump along with all the actual recyclables in the dumpster. Had to fish all that crap out and move it to the trash dumpster.

It's a city ordinance here that every multifamily building must offer recycling. If you don't offer recycling you get fined until you offer it. If the recycling company comes and sees that your recycling dumpster is contaminated with non recyclable items, the recycling company can charge you a boat load of money to pick up the dumpster and bring it to the dump. The recycling company has a huge incentive to check for non recyclables in everyone's bin because it nets them a ton of money. And nobody here can be bothered to read the signs about what can and cannot be recycled.

I stayed at a hotel last year where the reservation system was completely third party. The front desk folks couldn't modify a reservation to extend it or shorten it.

Township decided to "encourage recycling and help save the planet", by raising our dump fees. Their logic was that if people had to pay more to throw out their trash, they would filter out their recyclables more. Turns out that instead of using the dump, all of the cheap bastards around me decided to get burn barrels and now I have to smell burning trash every weekend.

Booked a hotel room through Travelzoo a few months ago for a room with two queen beds.

Today just thought of needing extra towels, so I called the CS line of the hotel group and found out the booking I had was only for a king size bed.

The rep opened a case for me and contacted the hotel management. Less than an hour later the hotel manager called and said it has sorted out and apologied for the problem. I thank him and told him it was probably issur with Travelzoo. No thte first time I had booking problem with them.. I might just book directly with hotels from now on.. sigh*

Multiple FWP all at once.

So I've been wanting to watch baseball this summer. Normally I just stream it from one of those not-so-legal but free websites. Now that I've installed an ad blocker it is blocking all of those streaming sites and I can't figure out which domains I need to whitelist. So I decide to go the legal route and by an MLB.tv subscription. T-Mobile was giving these out for free to customers but I forewent signing up because I thought I could just use the not-so-legal method. So now I had to put down $60 for MLB.tv rather than getting it for free. Whatever, no big deal.

I get the subscription activated and start casting games via Chromecast and its extremely jittery/laggy. The Chromecast is ancient so now I'm dropping $45 on a new Chromecast to see if that helps. New Chromecast won't be here until next week so I won't be able to watch baseball until next week.

Just passed the last 4+ hours trying to setup internet for a family member. Holy crap they changed it since the last time I did it and made it way more complicated than it has to be. Normally, you just connect a laptop to router, get a 192.168.x.x IP, check what the gateway is, connect to that, put in default user/pass and then setup wifi. Done.

This particular one wanted you to install some app and fiddle around with that to get it setup. My family member ended up having to do that on their phone.

Every time you want to do any kind of config changes on the router you need a damn app. WHY!?!?! I hate that crap so much. If this was my own internet I would switch to another ISP over that. I don't even run a standard OS on my phone so I would literally not be able to set that up. Why do these companies assume everyone has a smartphone running stock android or apple?
