Backup sump pump battery died, ordered one for curbside pickup at Walmart, but have to DRIVE there, (Walmart won't deliver this)

One of these days I need to actually install a sump pump lol. Big project though, need to break up concrete to build a sump pit then reroute some drain lines to it from the small 1x1 pit I already have. I perhaps should have done that before I put drycore everywhere.

^ Every time I deal with walmart, It Is An Adventure. This time, there was no core charge on the battery but might as well get them to recycle the old one as it had extreme sulfation, beyond any use now.

I take battery into automotive dept, and nobody is there, around 4PM. I call automotive and phone rings for over a minute, nobody comes. I go to exit and the floor sensor that opens the same electric sliding door I just came in, doesn't work, so I am either trapped in automotive or have to walk halfway around the store to get outside and back around outside to my vehicle. Fortunately another customer walked in from outside, triggered the door open so I could escape without having to walk an extra 1/2 mile or go through the repair bay area and open one of the big garage doors.

Maybe this is intentional, I mean once I was in there, if that door worked from the inside and I had a mind to, I could have made off with thousands of dollars worth of tires and batteries.

I'm so glad we can go in stores now, curbside was always a pain. When they first came up with that I thought it would be kind of convenient since you can preorder everything online but then you had to wait a day or two for it to be ready, and then wait once you get there. sometimes over an hour.

^ Curbside was pretty painless, I mean there was the slight learning curve to use their app, but they state 3 hours from order time it'll be ready, and was only 1 hour, then only a minute wait once I used the app to tell them when/where I'd parked.

Well I mean THIS TIME. I had another curbside (mower that time) battery pickup a week ago, where the website added the core charge on as extra tax, not a separate line item, so nobody at the store could issue a core charge refund, had to take old battery back home with me and call 1-800-walmart to get the $12 back.

On the bright side, that battery wasn't completely dead, so was handy to hook up to my sump pump charger to make sure the charger was working properly and it wasn't the cause of the old sump pump battery's demise... I had already repaired that charger once... 4 cent transistor failed.

I found it was very hit and miss. Home Depot for example was several days, Canadian Tire could be anywhere from 1-5 days. It was a pain trying to plan it for a day I'll be off, because if you did not pick up right away they'd cancel on you. I wonder if maybe they gave preference to people that installed apps. I refuse to install any kind of app like that on my phone. Well technically I can't, since I don't even have Google Play.

I've only used their app twice and uninstalled after each so I don't get spammy ad-like notifications from it. Right now they claim that first time curbside pickup users can get $10 off their first 3 orders, but some "restrictions apply" wording and no link to the terms of that offer. Apparently it has to be a $50 order and batteries don't qualify so I'm 0 for 2 for getting $10 off.

They still have extremely competitive battery prices, pretty much nobody but costco matches them for "most" sizes/types.

OMG. I had a bunch.

I had planned a themed gift with many smallish gifts and one out of 4 showed up on time...

I had planned on taking a half day off and just knocking a few things out at work. I checked my email and calls before I left this morning and everything seemed fine and when I started work I got a notice I had no data plan,.. I need that for work. I ended up leaving 2 hours earlier than planned and spent an hour and 15 minutes getting it fixed. They had no idea why it happened.

I ran all my errands getting ready for a birthday dinner and discovered I was out of dog food. I went to the grocery and they were out so I had to run across town for dog food.

It's just after 5 so I am wondering what else can go south.

I wanted to smoke beef brisket and pork butt overnight on my pellet smoker. I prep the meat and go turn on the pellet smoker only to have it die on me. I take a look and I don't see much pellets in the firebox. The auger is jammed from wet pellet dust and the feeder opening is completely caked and sealed preventing pellets from being pushed. So I spent like 2 hours in the dark with flashlight taking the damn thing apart and finally freed the auger and cleaned and removed all the blockage. The brisket and pork butt are now in the smoker but I lost valuable 2 hours of cooking time. I have company coming tomorrow and don't know if everything will finish cooking in time.

I think this must have been the first time Amazon has sent me something other than what I ordered. The description page said very clearly that it had 100mm objective lense (spotting scope). So they DID send me a spotting scope. But what they sent me was less than half that.

My guess is that it was some sort of misprint. 100mm is huge for something like a scope. In fact, for an additional fee, they'll throw in a custom designed case with little baby wheels and a telescoping handle that is guaranteed to jam frequently [joke].

You know what else does that. You'll never guess. . . . cocaine (riding that train)

so maybe slow your roll for a bit. [joke :)]

edit: How do I know that? You learn shit out on the street - you know, between stabbings. And what's with all of the saggy old guys exposing themselves? I can't decide if we're supposed to be afraid or aroused. Then again, how we feel might not be relevant if it's mainly an audience they're after.

My city is pretty bad for drugs, I often wonder how much exposure I get to fentanyl just touching public surfaces like gas pumps and shopping cart handles. Probably not enough to be dangerous but probably not zero either.

Haven't used my laptop for the last month. Turned it on and Windows update is happily taking up 100% of CPU for the last 20 minutes trying to install updates.

Home prices are so depressing. In the market for 3BR and prices are insane even in suburban areas.

It's nuts. So glad I bought when I did, and also glad I got my acreage land last year as there is hardly nothing on the market, and what I do see is over 100k. Way more than I could afford. Houses in my area are not TOO bad but still much higher than when I bought 15ish years ago. If my house right now was for sale and I was buying, I probably couldn't afford it.

If you aren't feeling good with a high...you are not exposed to (enough) fentanyl.

I've had many printers over the years. One of the feature I just sort of assume will be there is custom watermarks.

But it turns out that the Canon Pixma I've had for about a year and rarely use, doesn't. I searched, I googled. Got lots of false starts but no results.

In the process, I learned that XPS mode let's you add a stamp. But if you're starting with say, a photo, it has to be barely visible - I usually set the transparency to almost 100% So I started thinking, well, what if I make a duplicate and then set the transparency how I like. Then I can use that as my "stamp."

For whatever reason though, to use the stamp you have to click a box that says something like fade the image. But there's no way to set the level. So when I used the watermark I made, it didn't even show up. And when I used the original photo, it looked like a strike over.

I'm giving up for now but having a rough idea of how much or little the printer software fades the image, I should be able to create one that's maybe only 80% transparent and see how that comes out.

Got laid off from my side job. Was planning on quitting anyway, but whatever... The company used to be great, but a lot changed as they restructured.
