I tend to get electricity shamed in the mail once in a while too. The servers don't help. Basically 400w or so non stop. I do want to work on incorporating solar power into it to at least reduce the bill a little. From an environment point of view it does not matter since our power comes from hydro electric dams anyway.

Maybe you need a climate czar with a private jet.

What's True
Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, have owned and made use of multiple homes, cars, a yacht, and a private jet over the years.
What's False
Because Kerry signed a prenuptial agreement with his wife, who is heiress to the Heinz ketchup fortune, it's misleading to say all of the property they use belongs to Kerry. Most of the homes and the jet belong to his wife. It also appears that the meme being shared on social media exaggerates the number of homes and yachts owned by the couple.

I'm being electricity shamed when the climate czar is flying around in private jets and bozos are floating in space.

Kid thought it was funny until I told him his 25min showers are now 5. 😀

Dang. I'm glad I don't live in the south... :p

Your heating costs must be low, though. I have propane, and I average roughly $300/month during the three winter months.

There's allot of hate towards Kerry (not saying you) because he had the good sense to marry up. Don't see how that's a problem. Mostly reacting to all the stupid memes when I looked it up to see if it was true.
Good on him for marrying up but don't preach what you don't practice.

I married way up in quality. My wife got the a dud. 😀

My neighbor to the right has had solar for awhile, and he's scared of trees. My lefthand neighbor got some panels installed this fall. The lefties don't seem to be scared of trees. What about the trees? They keep the house shaded in the summer, and provide a bit of wood for winter, though not enough for full time heating.

What's an "energy unit" in terms of kWh? Is that like some weird Canadian conversion thing?
I missed it in the crop...

If you really want to know exactly what I used, I could probably login, but that would mean opening my password manager, and it's kinda tedious typing my password to open it :^D

Since we're all comparing hydro usage figured I'd check mine. :p I'm actually using less than I thought. Pretty sure I was pushing close to 1000kwh/mo at some point.

There's also an interesting breakdown by appliance, I imagine this is just a guess based on usage patterns but kind of cool.

"always on" is most likely all my server/computer stuff. Once I set up a way to transfer some stuff to solar automatically based on availability I can see myself actually saving some money. I'd like to try to get my bill to around $100 flat.

Woke up and realized I'm out of coffee, so I had to drive to Dunkin' Donuts before I could make breakfast.
