Yeah that's one line of thought on it, but I don't really agree with it. I bet you could double or triple their pay and they'd do the same job. To me, if someone isn't doing a good job, cause they don't care about the work they do, at X amount of dollars, then they won't do a good job at 2X dollars. I guess there might be a couple who do, but by and large no, IMO.
Oh, I'm with you. They aren't going to do a better job with more $$.

My expense report for a recent trip was rejected
We have a online system for travel expenses. It gets the math wrong when calculating reimbursement rates, error checks itself, and throws an error message. The error message provides the correct amount for the reimbursement. I have to manually change the reimbursement amount to correct the software's math error. All is well except that manually changing the reimbursement amounts triggers a human audit, delaying reimbursement.

I hate having to do expense reports. There's so many weird fields that you have to put something specific in it "just because that's how it is". None of it makes sense. Whenever I'm told I put something in the wrong way I just update my own documentation so I know next time. For certain things you have to put certain codes and for other things it's different codes etc... I don't know why it's so complicated. Same with entering time. IMO the system should be designed to do all that stuff in the back end. All I should need to do is submit the receipts and put a reason for the expense and the rest should get figured out by the system. That would make too much sense though, we can't go doing things that make sense in the corporate world!

I like doing expense reports, though I don't do them often. We use Concur which is pretty simple and straightforward.

I hand in a stack of receipts and get a check back. Eventually... They still owe me ~$1k from a couple months ago :^/

Thankfully I've had pretty good experience with expense claiming; no denials and quick reimbursement. At a previous job I travelled a little bit sometimes and had food receipts afterwards. I was pretty cheap though, rofl. It was a small company and I knew the owner and so I just basically acted like I would've had I been paying for everything. I usually went to fast food or bought stuff at the Walgreens-type store (when I did extended stay once). I remember one time the last night I was there I splurged and went to Chili's for a steak, lol.

My company is hosting an event that includes customers touring the building. I work in R&D, and the projects I'm working on have not been officially announced. I moved my tests and test equipment from my work benches in the lab to my office to keep them out of sight. It is 27.2C (81F) in here with all this crap running in an enclosed space.

Should've thrown a tarp over them and gone home. No time for games.

Just got the car back from the shop. $700+ in repairs.

Hey it's still cheaper than having a new car with payments, so there's that.

Brand new brakes and rotors, (it feels like I got this done not that long ago...) and A/C recharged. Nice having A/C again.

Yeah, but if you don't work you don't get paid - that's how they get you.

You'd think they would just skip looking at that particular room. Sounds like a pain having to dismantle everything.

The tours don't actually come into our lab, but it is a wide open space and my benches are the closest to where the tours stop. I'm just the lucky one.

Not sure what you're getting at.

I have a bunch of new games (Tropico 6, Surviving Mars, Sniper Elite 4, Metro Exodus), not to mention games not-so-new but that are in my rotation (Red Dead 2, Fallout 4, and now Lord of the Rings Online) but I can't seem to play more than like an hour a week on them! What a frickin poser lightweight. I don't even game man.

So there's that, and the mobile game I'm "working" on I never feel like working on! Frickin 'a. I'm using Unity, which is awesome, but I'm pretty much a noob at it so the going is slower than it would be too. I can't wait to finish it and put it on the Google Store and get 10 downloads! HELLS YEAH DAWG
