Not a fan of Corelle. It gives the plastic look in a package that breaks into a million tiny slivers when dropped on a tile floor. I wouldn't worry about lead in dinnerware as long as you aren't buying Chinese stuff. It's more of a concern in children, and in any case, it just makes you stupid. Life is happier when you're stupid ;^)

I'd be careful... There's at least one investigative report by a news station saying made in America and other brand name items can contain lead -- and end up leaching more than the FDA limit.

Think I saw Corelle described as tempered glass, which is the safety shit that's stronger but explodes?

The stupid part is the only part I worry about.

The ones that really bother me are the first gen dinnerware that had floral patterns and stuff printed on them. I also don't like the thin profile. For dinnerware, I like heavy stoneware. I've pieced together a decent collection of Phaltzgraff Folk Art pattern. A lot of their stuff is from China now though. If buying new, I like Fiestaware a lot. I'd get that in a bunch of different colors.

Yeah some of my old ones are the floral, but they are just mixing bowls, and work just fine for that.

I guess they've been mixing just fine a long time now :)

I just tend to stick to Pyrex these days for new things.

Feel like I am being extorted into joining the section lotto pool. It is at like $100 million cash value, and there are six of us. I can't refuse to enter, as everyone else has, and I am not going to be that one asshole that shows up to work on Thursday whenever everyone else just got $20 million and an early retirement...

I guess I am wasting $4 a week now until someone else wins.

My really comfortable pair of size 42 Duluth Trading Co. jeans ripped right in the crotch.
(right between your legs.)

(I didn't find this out until I'd gotten home from a morning at work.)

I'd had them since Christmas.

So pissed off right now.

(I don't have any other pairs of size 42 jeans to wear.)

Had to drive to Miramar this morning (about 50 miles away), got the call as I was exiting the highway that the meeting was cancelled.

Drove back home via A1A and enjoyed some scenery as there wasn't much more to do today.

Hey man, you can always sue the lottery pool if you don't win... You'll be THAT guy then.

Problem: vending machine refuses to take $100s. What kind of third world peasant has anything smaller?
Bologna.

ATMs dispense $20s. You actually have to go to the bank, during the day, to get $100s. Who's got time for that? The poors, that's who. With their unemployment and siestas and shit.

Whose got time to go to the ATM themselves? Poor people! I send an assistant to the bank and he returns with nice, crisp, rich person money.

Fuck I hate ATM's. I rarely use cash but some times I want a little bit just in case. ATM's don't let you choose the denominations, which is bullshit. I don't want $20 bills. Maybe I want a couple 5's, some 1's, a 10, etc...

ATM's are behind the times.

Had to hear the word 'like' come out of someones mouth 8 times in 30 seconds. Even that crappy new Samsung Note 4 commercial uses 'like' similarly to a valley girl. What is wrong with this dunce factory.

Starting to feel the same about the phrase "at the end of the day" lately.

Not as often as one of those "like" types, but still.

I thought the valley girl thing went out long ago, but that still persists with some.

Like, at the end of the day, who cares as long as you can, like, understand what I'm getting at, right?

Speaking of machines, the Coke vending machine downstair ate my $2 ($1 x 2) and acted up. I did have to write a note to the vendor and he will fix and return the money next week.

Where I delivered food, we called that "ATM Poor." It would hit our tips when we show up with $19.50 worth of food and the customer only had $20s.

Meh... I'm sure lead was higher years ago, and we conquered the world with lead infused brains. There's bad stuff in everything that ca be considered sub-optimal, but in practical usage doesn't make much of a difference. I wouldn't worry about quality dinnerware.

I've never seen Corelle spontaneously explode, but if you drop it, it makes many small pieces. My issue is mostly with the appearance. It's practical, and it works, but I don't like the look or feel.

Got an email that there were free left over Pot Belly's sandwiches from a lunch meeting. I wasn't at my desk, saw the email 15 minutes after it was sent. By the time I got there all that was left were scraps of lettuce in the boxes. Had to eat my plain sandwich I brought from home, ended up tossing part of it away because it wasn't Pot Belly's and the expectation had been set in my mind.

Expectation of what exactly? A bad sandwich from Pot Belly's? Real first worlders have peons make them artisan sandwiches with everything crafted by hand.
