I will never use Winblows 10. I have read countless issues about this and that, forced updates, privacy, you name it. Despite all that there are scores of people that always have to belittle you and say things like, "it has a smaller footprint, you should always use updates, updating is a no brainer", and all this hyperbole. No thanks. I'll stick with 7 for as long as I can.

I just seen that a new update causes a cycle of BSODs. LMAO! Do they not test these so-called "updates."

Oh, thanks for the reminder - updates means I have to run Shutup10 again.

Banweb(that's the Portland State University system on their website for checking grades and filling out electronic time sheets) was horribly broken this morning.

Couldn't even get my electronic time sheet started,so I'll have to do it on Monday.(technically,a day late).

I knew trying to get my timesheet done on Friday the 13th was a horrible idea.

The fall fairy festival's this weekend, but it's gonna be 75 today, and 82 tomorrow. Too hot for fall stuff. This is the worst fall since last year. I wonder what bullshit excuse it is this time; El Niño? La Niña? Flying monkey migration? I'm pretty sure the weathermen make stuff up to be authoritative, instead of simply saying "Shit's fucked up, and I have no idea why"

The head gasket on my dad's lawn tractor blew out again so I've been cleaning everything up to install a copper gasket. Even got some permatex copper head gasket sealer so now I have to wait for the mailman to bring the box with it later today so I can anneal it for mounting. I cleaned the bolts and bolt holes up quite well this time so I don't get any false torque readings when I wrench them down. I'm thinking about going over spec by 2 or 3 ft lbs this time because I don't want it to happen again.

I got up too late, had lot of stuff I wanted to do today but I'm just sitting down now with my coffee. Probably going to end up just not doing anything all day. :p

One of my rigs blew up. Not literally. Catastrophic OS failure. Had to restore from a backup but that was on the RAID array which you can't see using the Macrium boot disk. So I had to dl and burn a copy of Knoppix to be able to copy the files over to a local hard drive and finally restore. Now I have to try to figure out how I'm going to dual boot this machine since I need to install another OS.

Signed up for a 12hr shift@ double time.
When I got there, client changed their schedule and we're only working 4 hrs but they're paying 8.

4hrs quad time is nice but 12hrs @ double was more $$$ :(

Thank christ no. I'm in MD, wishing I was in Finland.
Live in a coastal swamp, complain about heat and humidity? There is something to the whole, "It's a dry heat" thing in the west. Yeah, we got cholla, white thorn, and cat claw but humidity only lasts from July through September.

There's some truth there, but it didn't used to be this bad. You put up with a few months of misery in exchange for four seasons, mountains, and oceans; all a short drive away. Walk in the woods in the fall, and it has a nice rich loamy smell. Moss covered rocks by the creeks, and highly varied (non venomous)wildlife.

Now summers are longer, and winter almost doesn't exist. In hindsight, I probably should have moved to Maine or New Hampshire when I was young

I think I might be f***ed. I bought an LTO5 tape drive and SAS controller and tried to install them into 2600k rig but neither of the devices is showing up in device manager. I tried dual booting with win server 2008 R2 and still no luck. The server OS doesn't like the Asrock mobo and can't find drivers for half the devices. I had to dl the win7-64 network driver just to get online. I'm afraid I may have to move 56 thread server into the office so I can install the tape drive, card and server OS just to try to get this sh** working and be able to backup my RAID5 box.

I've been intrigued by the thought of moving to LTO tapes myself and think they even work in Linux. Newer generations are crazy expensive, especially the drives, but the older ones arn't so bad.

After that quad time fiasco, client will no longer pay for double time. :(

Looks like I'm not working sun anymore

Sucks. I love working 12h shifts, Sundays I get a premium too. Sunday nights there is night premium on top of that. :D The more 12's I work the more time off I get too, since we technically work 40 hour weeks, just that the days are distributed differently.

I am trying to live healthier. Cut back on food portions and lesser empty calories such as sodas. Not fun at all.

I saw a riced out Maserati Granturismo tonight. I didn't take a pic because I figured it was just a super riced out Mazda. :(

So, it turns out that the SAS card needs an x8 slot which I don't have on the computer attached to the RAID. I figured that you could use and x8 in an x16 slot but apparently not. Maybe I was ignorant for thinking that, IDK.

So now I have to move the server from the test bench into a case and then into the office from where it is now. Then, assuming I can find drivers for the RAID that work in Server 2008 R2, I'll have to hook it up to the server to do the backups. Except so far I haven't been able to find drivers that work with that OS. So I might be going through all of this for nothing. Sigh.

Mentioned that the kid broke his wrist to get out of scraping my windows. So I did it yesterday and pried out the caulk that needs replacing. 80% chance of rain today.

And...the oven hood vent and light buttons stopped working this AM. We ordered one with mechanical switches because I thought the touch sensors would crap out sooner. Lowes got the wrong one in but sold it to me for the lower price. Trying to find the right breaker, I flipped enough of them that I'll have to reset all of the clocks. when I get home.
