Kinda hard to do, can't really drive it until you own it and have insurance on it. And the owner is not going to want their vehicle tied up in the shop while they could have potential buyers come look at it. What I should have done is just buy one that is already already up to standard. Usually when you buy from a dealer that's how it is. Tried to save money as this one was only 5k but ended up being burned, it will be 11k when all is said and done. Then again there was really nothing for that price range here anyway, it's either paying 5k for a fixerupper or paying 20k for a slightly newer but possibly still fixer upper. Was finding lot of stuff out of town where you can have it delivered but not sure I like the idea of buying sight unseen.

A lot, apparently. He gave me a full list. Brakes, both manifolds leaking, gas tank strap loose, I forget everything else but those were the major ones. It was just verbally, I'll get it on paper once the work is done. Some of it is work I'd want done anyhow even if it was not for safety. The engine manifold I don't really care about though, my current truck has same issue. That's the one that's the most labour intensive.
LoL sales agreement with pending safety report from licenced mechanic is a very standard clause when buying from private seller.

Saw that on an MJ youtube video and took me a second or two to guess the song.

What the heck? Why can't my brain do better stuff with its neurons???

Aren't there a variety of services like CarFax that will let you put in a VIN and see what the vehicle's history is?

It's not going to tell if the car had regular oil changes although I wouldn't be surprised if one is dealer serviced that they might update the database with such things as well as the mileage at the time.

It's worth looking into since it would definitely include things like insurance claims.

how is carfax going to tell you if the car has mechanical issues? They are just data aggregators.

Boss says everyone has to take defensive driving, again. The online course keeps seizing up. The irony of the course seizing up during the module discussing bad attitudes is not lost on me.

Today's FWP for me is my top 4k monitor at home just stopped working with my work setup. Just shows black. Shows up in Windows but no display. Changed cable, GPU port, even tried bypassing the KVM, no go. ended up coming in to the office. My boss found 2 4k spare monitors so I'll bring those home and replace my side HD monitors with them and just not bother with the top monitor.

Made a couple salmon burgers for dinner, ate a couple tiny bites, then threw them outside for Spot. I just wasn't feelin' it. Made Spot happy, but the house stinks like fried salmon now :^/

I hate it when I'm craving something, make it, and just get disappointed. Doesn't happen often, but it sucks lol

A new FWP!

My new roof is leaking. About a week ago I noticed a crack in the ceiling drywall, I did drywall work there when I bought the house as that section had a leak before too oddly enough and it got moldy. So I figured it was just my poor workmanship 15+ years ago that started to show after all the work they did up there and all the banging etc. Today I noticed that it has spread and it's not just a crack but bubbling. I put my moisture meter and sure enough it's wet. It doesn't feel wet to the touch but I was reading like 25%. The roofers will come check it tomorrow. Went up on the roof and noticed lot of nails are popping out, not sure why that's happening... those nails were not like that when I went up to inspect after they were done. It's suppose to be clear all night and tomorrow so will leave them so they can see for themselves.

As a side note as I type this a bird just perched itself on top of a hydro pole right next to the insulator. That bird is totally getting smoked if it takes off wrongly. Power outage in 3 2 1...

decided to integrate the Tapo cameras to Home Assistant. 2 identical cameras, one integrates without issue, the other keeps rejecting the credential.

It's the same fucking login and password...

restart HA and now neither camera wants to talk to HA...

Tried the Walmart doordash type thing. Needed a ceramic knife and was feeling lazy, so I bought it and some other stuff I could use. Get a message saying oops, we actually don't have the knife, but we can ship it to you tomorrow.

Ok, fine.

Oops, we can't actually ship it to you and we can't cancel the rest of your order either.

Guess I'm going to Walmart tomorrow.

Is your roof sheathed with ply/osb or is it older 1x material? Nail pop is common when nails are power driven into gaps between boards.

Dealing with Comcast's horrible web site, while trying to get the Wi-Fi working on my Samsung S22 Ultra.

Ugh. Not fun.

It's 1/2" plywood, and it actually looked in good shape when they tore it out. Hopefully these few nails are just a freak thing and it won't start happening everywhere. Spring snow melt is what will do real damage if there's any leaks.

Today's FWP? This sort-of techy site I use as a time waster has been having issues. Lots of 502 and 504 gateway errors.

HOW CAN LIFE GO ON LIKE THIS?

Trying to install a printer driver and my computer is nearly fully locked up. i5-8265U with 8GB of RAM Win 11. Is this really that old that of a computer that a simple printer driver will bring it to its knees?
