no, its not.

despite saying "Nvidia’s new 340.52 drivers blabla", its 2011 news

Either way the point still stands:
Nvidia made a decision to prevent multi GPUs on a system with non-Nvidia GPU drivers to not accelrate PhysX on hardware. As time progressed iGPUs came into the pictures and now we have a problem. I hope Nvidia fixes the issue. So far I'm not impressed with PhysX but I don't want to have this problem 3 more years down the road.

Either way back on topic:
Witcher 3
Get GTX 880
Get 4.4 Devil's Canyon
???
Profit!!

It's just to bad I can't run my nvidia GPU alongside my Radeon for the Physx in TW3 .

Thanks to Nvidia and Direct Compute I will run Witcher 3 with on my R9 290 with all new fur, grass etc.

If not I will plug in my GTX 460 and hack my way to hybrid PhysX SAME AS ALLWAYS

I have no idea what's this new problem you keep referring to.

Nvidia looks for Radeon drivers and if it detects it (iGPU or dGPU doesn't matter) it'll stop hardware PhysX. This is undocumented in the patch notes. It works with Intel iGPU and Nvidia on 800M series though. I need some time to see if it still works on 700 series.

Such a loss D:
Hybrid PhysX doesn't work anymore with A8, A10 and such?

Linkie?

That's as feeling/opinion not a fact. I could think that cat crap tastes great but that would make me a delusional. Likewise I could think that 13fps is smooth but that would be a delusion on my part.
you are completely illogical. what is smooth to someone can vary whether you accept that or not. 🙄

Well if we go to the past than Ps3 and Xbox 360 were on par with HIGH END PCs or better that is why it performed better till 2009 but now that is not the case at all because So Called Next Gen console are not even par with Mid range PCs and that is a fact and that is why we are seeing so many delays and downgrades.As for Witcher 3 on PC even GTX 770 with 2 MSAA with ultra to high will be enough because it will be high setting on console

Some people have misjudge meaning or concept of optimizing on Console and optimizing does not mean that console will perform similar or better $1000 or even $600 PCs and fact is it cannot and never will out perform PCs.Tnks to AMD now PC and Console are much closer than ever so u can expect GTX 780 or R9 290 to run game Ultra setting for much long time period than before.

I am a delusional because I think that cat crap would taste like Shxx and that 13fps is not smooth ? Logic would dictate that cat crap would taste like uerrum crap and logic would also dictate that 13fps in not smooth.

no you are acting foolish because you cant comprehend the simple fact that smooth does not mean the same exact thing to everyone. I already gave you a simple example but you come back with childish nonsensical replies.

I cannot agree with you on this one. 13fps is not smooth and cat crap does not taste good. That's common logic.

Hybrid Physx has been out of commission for a long time now.

you mean all of a sudden in all your PhysX games hybrid physx suddenly stopped working... how did Nvidia manage to do that???

we are talking about that GTX 275 that you don't have?
😱

What about GTX 275 and yes Physx no longer works when an AMD GPU is detected. There was a hack to get around this but nvidia put the kibosh on this hack.

maybe you don't know this, but if hybrid physx works in a particular game, it works allways
nvidia has no control over the sw thats in your PC 😱

"Well for all those who have used Nvidia cards for PhysX and ATI cards to render graphics in Windows 7, that is about to change.
Since the release of 186 graphics drivers Nvidia has decided to disable PhysX anytime a non-Nvidia GPU is even present in the same PC. We do feel that Nvidia has shot themselves in the foot here.
In NVIDIA's defense, they have been saying ever since the beginning that they would not support the ATI / NVIDIA combo PhysX wise, it is now a little more definitive though.
Small advise to NVIDIA, PhysX will be a lost cause unless you guys get ATI onboard as well. This certainly isn't helping."

now we are back to 2009 😱

you're all over the place and making zero sense as always

Well then how come I tried it when MLL came out and guess what NO DICE. Stop with the personal attacks please. You are welcome to leave my thread if you cannot play nice 🙂

PhysX will work on non-Nvidia systems on CPU only but on single thread because it's coded for x87. Newer SDKs allow for SSE but I don't know if anyone uses it yet. Witcher 3 I think uses SSE but they've already stated you won't get best eye candy on CPU PhysX.

Nvidia does indeed have control over the sw on your pc. It's their driver that decides if PhysX will run on their GPU or your CPU. Your game can enable whatever it wants but if their driver rejects it then you're not going very far.

Witcher 3 devs have stated themselves that Nvidia is putting up roadblocks to prevent the best experience on AMD cards already.

Either way I don't think PhysX should dictate Witcher 3's great experience. I doubt I'll care about how well the water ripples when a Shark is trying to bite my head off.

To be fair I think he's asking for modern (ie 2014 proof). I've provided that link to him already.

f1sherman, if you already have a PhysX enabled card and a Radeon try it. You'll find it won't work on the GPU. It'll default to the CPU.

You forgot "at 1080p and 4XAA"

Hybrid PhysX doesn't make much sense long term though.

EVGA Classified 780 = $550, assume 50% resale value in 2 years => $275 cost of ownership
Sapphire Tri-X 290 = $410, assume 50% resale value in 2 years => $205 cost of ownership
But any budget PhysX card costs $70-90 (GTX 750).

For dual cards, it hardly changes:

Classy 780s => $1100 --> $550 cost over 2 years
Tri-X 290s => $820 --> $410 cost of ownership over 2 years after resale
Add $70-90 PhysX card = $410+$80= $490

Overall for anyone who values PhysX, it is less headache to just get NV than to save some $, buy AMD and a separate NV card for PhysX. Unfortunately, developers are reluctant to take advantage of PhysX to a larger extent. They really need to focus on realism rather than 1 million fire particles and 1 million pieces of glass shattering on the screen.

Hopefully CDPR does something cool with PhysX for once.

There are certain games that still look great on High such as Metro, Crysis 3, Witcher 2. In a lot of games moving from High to Very High/Ultra has very little impact on IQ but a major hit in performance. In those cases, it is often better to go High, pick Very High textures and then pick and choose. In most games shadows produce a large hit but often the difference between H and VH shadows is not perceptible in motion.
