I work for a hospital. Last year we got a butterball turkey, no shit. This year, haven't heard what the big bonus is going to be. When I worked in private practice we always got a generous monetary bonus for Christmas.

I get about $45K a year and we didn't get a pay rise this year and we won't be getting a Xmas bonus.

$75 gift card to a grocery store. It's but a pittance but, I'm thankful for anything that is given to me without any obligation to pay it back these days.

Nothing last year and $25 WalMart gift card this year.

Do get my 5% pay cut back starting on Jan. 1 though.

My bonus is that I keep working, and nobody else was fired this year. I got a 5k increase which I shall use to wipe my ass with first raise in 2.5 years and it is barely better than a COL increase. It's honestly an insult considering the jump in responsibility I've taken on.

I'm working exactly 8am-5pm, and not jumping through any hoops or doing anything spectacular next year.

EDIT: COL increase for SSA and DOD employees was 5.9% or so. So I'm actually making less money. Well at least I'm working. I know there are 200 people or so that aren't that are looking for a job that I'm hiring for (my dept) - Because I have 200 resumes to look through.

Damn. I thought I was doing bad. I usually get about 10k in bonus at year end but I have a feeling this year will be slightly less.

Used to be around 5 figures. Has since dropped to the low 4 figures. I'm not expecting anything this year, given the situation.

250 bucks and a 25lb turkey. Doesn't have to worry as much about how much he had spent on Christmas and he gets a big bird.

So we run a company with 4 cofounders, and have one employee earning mid-30s a year, and times have been time for us but we want to give him a bonus. At what point is a bonus "too" low to consider giving him one?

Obviously $10 or something would be insulting, but would there be a minimum amount that makes it "worthwhile"? Or if it's going to be a low amount, say $250 would you prefer a check as abonus or a VISA/AMEX gift card as a gift?

well let me tell you, i just got mine today. been with the company 21 years and got $25 giftcard. how is that for insulting

Bonus? none, my organization even canceled the recognition celebrations for people who've been with the company 10, 20, 30 or more years.the rational? that it would be a slap in the face to the communities we serve to be holding parties and celebrations when so many are going without. We're lucky to have jobs. Our party will be a potluck that we provide and secret santa.. and a lot of people even opted out from that this year.

Based on my company's year end numbers. I get a percentage of 10% of my salary and it is not capped at 100/10%. If we hit 150%, I get 15%.

I get to keep my job. My dad gets around 10% bonus, if the company is doing well.

Give him one week salary? And please don't use a gift card.
