Being a Christian myself, I'm totally disgusted at how people view our religion. Sure, there are extreme fundamentalists but I assure you that not every Christian like that. I find it very offensive that members on this board kept dissing Christianity when they don't even know what it's all about.

Maybe you and those like you should speak out against the Fund A Mental Cases who are giving your religion a bad rep.

BTW, I don't have a problem with Christians/Jews/Muslims etc who are not trying to force ther views on me and the Government.

 
Are you really a Christian? I've noticed a lot of people call themselves Christians even though they really aren't. E.g., CHrist advocated living a simple life and said rich people would not go to heaven. Protestant nuts like GWB have tried to weasel out of that to support their worship of mammon. In essence, they are non christians.

Christ had noble ideals, the only problem is the people that pretent to represent him dont' follow any of them.

 
I know what it is about because I spent every day of my school life in a religous academy. I have sat through 4 years of theology classes and know and can counter most ideas concerning the existence/nature of God. It is because of this that I reject Christian dogma and will call it a blight upon the world.

Then you should know who the remarks are aimed at. I have a large amount of respect for moderate religious people who follow their tenets without pushing their beliefs on others. Fundies like Falwell and Robertson have taken over the Christian religion, or at least how others perceive it. There are extremists in everything, but when they move to the forefront of their organization they can't really be called that in the context of that organization, can they?
 
Why do I get the feeling the OP is too busy worshipping his Nissan to answer. We all know Jesus was really into hip material possessions.

There may be some that are just entirely against any form of religion no matter what. However, what I think you'll find is that most people are ticked off that Christianity is being shoved down our throats from every angle.

Again, politics and religion are like oil and water. They don't mix.

Keep religion out of politics and politics out of religion and all will be well.

Pretty much. Around 10th grade I started asking questions that I just couldnt get satisfactory answers too.(at least from the christia perspective)

I consider myself a Christian. There may be others who would argue with me, because I've never bought in to some aspects of the sheep metaphor. Here is a link that appeared here a while back that illistrates the difference between me and some of these fundies.

Last Thanksgiving I was in a church in the Phoenix area where they encouraged folks to stand and say what they were thankful for. This one guy said he was thankful that the President was a Christian. I will not go back there.

In the new testament it says we will know Christians by their love, by the fruit they bear. Because of this, I am skeptical that Bush is really a man of faith at all. I think he has simply found a way to exploit the religiosity of others.

Just because you say I have no knowledge doesn't make it so. The bible says it is hard for a rich man to get into heaven. Jesus lived a simple life with no interest in material wealth.

WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY BEING RICH IS COOL WITH JESUS?

Let me guess, you're another protestant who buys the crap about accumulating wealth for the glory of god? None of that crap is sanctioned by words in the bible. Keep deluding yourself that it's okay to lead a shallow empty materialistic life and live the way Jesus wanted. :thumbsdown:

I quite simply have issues with fundamentalists of all religions and the non-fundamentalists who ignore and TOLERATE the fundamentalists' hypocracy.

Honestly, MANY churches use the whole 'war on Christianity' spiel as a way to 'unite'. All it does is make you feel more that the world is all "us" against "them".

Please don't buy into that social brainwashing crap.
