Why is it so hard for you to believe that people who don't shop at Walmart do so because of repeatedly horrible shopping experiences? I'm all for saving money, but going to Walmart just makes me angry most of the time. Not to mention that with all the money I save on Target's clearance deals, it probably is just as cheap as shopping at Walmart. And Target sells nicer clothes.
There are things that Target doesn't sell though, particularly in the automotive, sporting goods and pet areas. Last time I went to Walmart was to buy fish. It took 15 minutes and 3 pages over the intercom to get someone to help me. I debated on just getting the fish out myself, but that's not really allowed. The tanks were dirty and had dead fish in them. The guy mangled the fish as he was taking them out of the tank, and half died within a couple of weeks. Then I went to PetSmart - wow, talk about a huge difference! The fish were in nice, clean tanks. The fish were alive and healthy and not overcrowded. I'll never buy a fish from Walmart again, prices be damned!
I don't hate Walmart, I just hate shopping there.
As has been said, your Walmart is not representive of all Walmarts. I gave two very contrasting examples and even pointed out that I do not shop at my closest Walmart.
There are ~3300 stores in the US. Now it's been a while since I took stats, but I don't believe 2 qualifies as a representative sample.
It depends which side of the fence you are on
