The only Walmart I've been too in the North East has been the Super Walmart in New Hampshire on the Mass border and it's not bad at all. I guess the quality of people who live around there is just higher;) I never been to the one in Lynn Mass but I bet that one fits your description to a T (Lynn the city of Sin)

I do like Target and Costco better though.

Exactly why are you interacting with these people? I walk in, get my stuff and leave. (Most people pay before they leave;) )
They don't bother me - I don't bother them. It's pretty easy and they're people also. I feel no need to discriminate against them.
I also almost always use the self checkout. It's easy and I get out quick.
Ahhh, I guess you do pay.
All the self-checkouts I've used have been a pain in the butt. They always have problems and it actually takes longer for me to get out of the damn store.

I am not exactly a Wal-Mart hater or a Target fanboy, but I have to say that all 8 of the OP's points seem to be true in my town. The only real advatage I see in Wal-Mart is it being open 24/7. And thats not even true at all of them.

Because "better" people shop at Target!

:disgust:

Well that really depends on how you define "better." Some might say that the $10k higher salary that the average Target shopper makes vs the average Walmart shopper makes them better, but I disagree.

how is target any different? they all sell the same stuff

don't you know?

wal-mart makes them make stuff after hours (at gun point) also they buy all the "reject" ones that stores such as target refuse.

it is diffrent stuff (the target stuff is made by min wage paid china workers!). can't you tell the quality?

sheesh.

..you haven't been to a walmart in san antonio....:disgust:

The one on 1604/Culebra isn't bad at all. The one on 410/Military is pure hell. It should be nuked.

The new one there is MUCH better than the old one on 151/410, but it's so friggin packed in there, no matter what time of day. We avoid it. When we go, we hit the one on 1604/Culebra.

A new one is being built on Potranco. Either that or it's a Sam's Club.

I like both Target and Wal-Mart. Target does have higher end stuff as far as Clothes, Toys and Decorations. But for the everyday household/bathroom/personal items, it's just cheaper to run to Wal-Mart and pick them up.

I've only had a problem with the self-checkout once. But they whole system went down for all of them. Other than that, they are much faster than the lines.

EDIT: It seems to depend on area. Some people have ghetto Wal-Marts and others have nice clean ones. I'm just fortunate to have a nice one where I live. Again, Milfs run amuck at ours :D

I'm not a Target fanboi, but I'll gladly pay a few cents more to avoid the BS at Wally-World...rude ignorant employees, crowds, mediocre quality on the NON-name brand stuff, disorganized stocking, sh!t stacked everywhere and often just thrown around. (that's the customers, NOT the employees) just IMO, a bad place to shop. I HAVE been in a couple of Super-WallyWorlds when we were on vacation last summer that were pretty much NONE of these...clean, well stocked, etc., but that doesn't describe the 3 in my area...

I've actually noticed that the price difference between Walmart and Target isn't that much. But that said, checkout goes faster and with less problems at Target, things are easier to find, and the atmosphere is much more relaxed. And as a side bonus, people at Target seem to be able to handle a car in the parking lot. I don't know what it is about Walmart, but there is some serious automotive stupidity going on every time I go there.

We do sometimes go to walmart to grocery shop usually after 10pm (open 24 hours) when the usual croud is gone.

Agree with all the observations you made.
<----------Target fan

I can see you are in the upper echelon of shoppers at Wal-Mart. :disgust:

It is a store, either shop there or don't. I don't go to the Mall because prices are much higher. Same reason applies for shopping at wal-mart for soap and toilet paper.

yeah. i say we ship off those 'lesser' people to camps. Then all us 'better' people can have the country to ourselves.

Target >>>>>>> Walmart for me.

I would drive half an hour to go to a target instead of 5 minutes to a walmart. I have my reasons, I can't stand walmart...

Target does have higher prices, but usually higher quality too.

Walmart just uses the goverment to subsidize their prices by having most of their employees on goverment healthcare and welfare instead of paying them better wages and giving them good insurance..

anyway, i'm not going to go on about this.. but everyone should watch Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price

Fixed.

that is one of the stupid arguments.

the merchandise is the same. only time you get crappy merchandise is the wal-mart name (presidants choice?) stuff.

though we do buy the presidants choice stuff for some stuff. the toys while cheap last long enough. for $5 toy (same name brand stuff is $15-20) it last about 3 years where the name brand stuff would last like 5-7 or so.

but 3 years is long enough. they outgrow it before it breaks.

damn, you must live in the ghetto.

Ironically i live in the suburbs and there's a walmart in town, and the closest target is in the ghetto!

Man I wish there was a Walmart near where I live...the closest one is on Crenshaw!

I noticed that at the Targets I've been to, they're mostly hispanic.

I didn't really notice it... but as the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'

A pack of Dial soap is a pack of Dial soap. A box of Frosted Flakes is a box of Frosted Flakes. Target is CONSISTENTLY higher-priced than Wal-Mart, so I shop at Wal-mart.

I don't give a crap about a "premium" shopping experience. I have better things to spend my money on instead wasting it by paying more for an item someplace else.

I walked into a 24-hour Wal-Mart early this morning and got a Christmas card, two boxes of chocolates and two DVDs. I was in and out in about 5 minutes (went through self checkout).

Why the hell would I go to Target to buy the EXACT same items for a higher price?

Because an opened pack of Dial soap and a crushed box of Frosted Flakes are not the same as new. :) You should see the Walmart over here. Half the boxes look like they've been drop kicked and the other half opened.

WTH would you buy brand name soap and cereal?

Generics from the locally owned grocery FTW.

I definitely agree with your post. I don't mind paying the little extra and going to Target.

One of the main reasons why Wal-mart is so dirty is because they're open 24hours a day. They're never closed to do some cleaning like Target does.
