I'm still waiting for blackened23 to prove GK100 was delayed indefinitely and somehow Nvidia won't have a high end product until the next refresh cycle (8~ months or longer)... I mean he's been saying it since he switched to 7970s, so I assume he has 100% undeniable proof.

The trolls are really kicking it into overdrive.

OK, we don't have the benchmarks but it has been confirmed from multiple sources that this is the GTX680. Now do you really think Nvidia will launch a GTXx80 which will be slower than AMD's best?

Hehehe, you ninja'd.

Buying a faster part doesn't mean lack of OCing skills cause you can OC the faster part too 🙂

Yes but then those in question had less headroom and quadruple the cost.

But it's also a single card which has it's own benefits.

OT - I really hope GK104 ends up being somewhere between 7950 and 7970. Not just because I already invested in Tahiti but because I like it when Nvidia and AMD are neck and neck. If Nvidia's midrange really beats AMD's best, it could be bad for future competition. I don't want the GPU world to start looking like the CPU world.

Close competition is great for everyone, but in here, if we are being honest, fans of one company are just hoping to rub it in the face of fans of the other. That's what most of this banter really is. And, its obviously entertaining because, well here we are.
I do hope that gk104 does a lot of things. And one of them is to get a few folks around here to shut it. 😎
I guess I'll know soon enough if I get my wish. 😛

Do any of the rumors or leaks from the past 6 months have "undeniable proof"? Of course not. Charlie and BSN reported that GK100 was scrapped, and that GK110 just taped out. VR-zone also reported that the GK104 is the only product being released until late this year, among others. Also, there is no GK100 product and multiple sources report that work is beginning on GK110/112. Are you calling me a troll? I only troll on Wednesdays and today isn't Wednesday. Its not on the schedule yet bro 😎

I dare you to find undeniable proof of any unreleased product. Isn't happening. But you can obviously add 2+2 when GK104 is the only product being released, and as a "GTX 680" at that.

Obviously we can add 2+2 "only product" is a rumor, so is the GTX 680 moniker for the GK104 product which is also a rumor at this point.

I wasn't calling you a troll, hence the separation from addressing you and the comment. There are obviously several trolls attempting to bait in this thread, I'm sure you can see it.

GK110 would be a refresh product, what are they going to use when they refresh GK104 to GK114?

The idea that Nvidia scrapped GK100 and went to GK110 is hard for me to swallow since GK100/GK110 are going to be just like GF100 and GF110, GF110 was a simple refresh and minor redesign of GF100. How can you have refresh and redesign a product that isn't even out, I can understand it needing some tweaking, but if GK100 wouldn't work neither would any plans based off it to create GK110.

I'm not sure what to make of this; if it's real, then I don't even know what to say. Two nodes in a row now that TSMC has dropped the ball.

http://semiaccurate.com/2012/03/07/tsmc-suddenly-halts-28nm-production/

i guess everyone would have to admit to the hard facts that Nvidia is not alone with 28nm TSMC issues. Except even with real facts like this, select people will deny this. there are some who's imagination is more powerful than anything reality can give them.

Example from the same article:

Charlie D said:
"Since only Nvidia was having issues, and those are not really process related, we have no explanation as to why they would take this drastic step.."

You got to be kidiing me, right?. Is this guy serious? holly freakn sinking ship!!!!
I guess its beyond the scope of understanding then. Or maybe the simpler explainable: there are issues with TSMC 28nm node that arent limited to Nvidias.

But that would mean that charlie was completely wrong when he claimed that there was no issues. Could it be, charlie really wrong? Well, YES!!!

Absolutely, he must have been. He was completely, utterly, and entirely wrong. Not only does this have to be true, it brings up a lot about Nvidia's conference call a few weeks ago.

We find out that the production was halted mid February. This completely aligns with the Nvidia call. Nvidia said clearly, they were in need of 28nm wafers/ The wafers were in short order. And now you see the truth as to why. All 28nm production had been stopped. And it stopped right when it shouldve been ramping up!

Charlie spun it as nvidia only issues. Clearly this is completely false. But why can he not reasonably see his the facts now? He was dead wrong in his claims, and the entire TSMC 28nm production has been halted. This halt happen to be exactly in the time of Nvidia's quarterly conference call. Wow. what a fail on charlies part.

What a fail on anyone who cannot see the clear fact that charlie's arrogance is much larger than his intelligence.

Wake me up when the nvidia marketing rubbish ends and solid figures are released. Until then, I can only declare SLI 470s overclocked to a billion mhz the winner.

HAhahah.

i guess with what you are saying,
Kyle Bennet and charlie D are the head of nvidia's Marketing team?

ocre, stop the rage man... it's probably a machine that burned due huge demand

amd and ARMs, were all saying that yields were ok... just nvidia was "yields are poor" just google it...
...heck! were is kepler? need more proof that this is a nvidia problem?

anyway...this actually seems more that charlie is getting trolled, than anything...

GK107 has been pictured and benchmarked. I do believe it is coming early April.

I hope to see a thorough technical comparison between GK104 and Tahiti. Similar die size, rumored NVIDIA move to more weaker SPs, win some lose some benchmarks and games rumor, haven't had this kind of head to head since AMD broke it's slump with the 4800 series.

If this means no clear king of the hill card (8800, 480/580) we should see some price competition barring supply constraints *looking at you TSMC*.

Nvidia really has outdone themselves, this is basically like the GTX 460 being faster than the 5870, or the 560ti being faster than the 6970.

Crazy.

Yeah if this is nvidia's mid range and it's trading blows with the 7970 as rumored AMD is in trouble. That's the kind of blow that could send amd running out of the discrete market.

It is quite funny how they swallow every positive rumour and spit out/reject anything negative

There have been many rumors saying this exact same thing. If it was just one source it would be one thing. Having numerous sources say nvidia's mid range will trade blows with AMD's flagship is downright impressive if you're a Nvidia fan and downright crippling if you root for AMD.

So the *80 will be their new midrange? 😕
