To you and four other people. To the rest of the world it's a paper weight.
I differ with you on the best stuff being worthless in a year too. If you bought the best stuff last Christmas (P4 3GHz/9700Pro) you had a kick ass gaming system for the last year, and you've STILL got a kickass gaming system for well into next. (if not all of it)
Using a kick ass gaming system is worth a lot more to me than looking at an obsolete video card, staring off into spacing and wistfully saying,"Squeel. Oh what might have been if 3dfx hadn't gone bankrupt for this poor, costly technology".
Like I said, the value on these things isn't set in stone. There's only a couple people in the world who think they're worth anything at all, and maybe they'll wake up or go to school. Then you have a pcb, no different from any other, worth less than most. If there were 1000 of the 3000 people who looked bidding, I might buy that the market for these things is stable. There were FIVE that bid over $500, so the winning bidder better hope they don't lose their jobs or wise up if he bought it as an investment.

"V5-6000- so worthless, it's kind of ridiculous." (with a picture of one on top of Beanie Babies and Cabbage Patch Dolls)
