My mistake, I thought it was the xsplit video again.
The Bench results corroborate the data shown in the video; some of the results were used in the video. Where there are apps that are strongly thread-hungry, the FX-series wins against the i5, i.e BF3, encoding software, etc. In less thread-hungry apps, the i5 takes the slight lead.
The conclusion in the video is not correct though, since a purchase decision depends on many variables that the buyer draws "utility" from. There is no one rule fits all here. The FX-8350 is certainly an interesting choice for some usage scenarios, especially if you're into thread-hungry apps but don't want to spend 130 dollars more, but at the same time, an FX-8350 system does incur some hidden costs, such as a beefier PSU or making sure the motherboard's VRMs are good enough.
