Ok, I found this post, that I find quite usefull. Is about the IQ difference between Quality and High Quality setting in the control panel. Here it is.

Did I say difference??? 😀

Looks like ATI has the 5.1 CATALYST drivers on their site. Will probably give them a try tonight.

there actually is no real difference....
"high quality" textures is exactly the same as running "quality" textures with trilinear optimization, anisotropic mip filter optimization, & anisotropic sample optimization turned off.

in other words ~ the IQ cheats are disabled with "high quality" textures.

The latest NVIDIA drivers have been total sh!t. They all have errors with HL2/CSS (white/red lines with AA enabled, yellow water). I'm using the 67.65's and they are the best ones out there so far IMO. No problems with any of my games (including HL2)
Peace,
Nick

All drivers and links updated. Also benchmarks are linked.

So far we have mainly Nvidia discussion and Nvidia benchmarks, if someone could provide ATI benchmarks, that would be EXCELLENT!

Hey guys, great topic. Which of these drivers would be the best for my Leadtek 6600GT. I just put the card in, so I haven't installed any drivers yet. Thanks!

These are unified so potentially they will all work good. However the 71.40 and 71.50 appear to be the best right now, though you MAY have yellow water in half life due to a glitch. The 67.03 is a very good drivers as well.

I found the very best to be VXG 71.20 drivers. They have great IQ and performance, the best for me by far.
You can find them in Guru3d.

Well crap, I went with the 67.03. I haven't had any problems, but I really havent' tested them much yet. If I do decide to change to a different driver, what process do I need to follow to clean out the current ones?

Erm, no. It sounds like a problem with beta drivers, which it is.

Do you have any other reports of these problems with this driver.

If so, i will add it to the notes next to the driver. I cant add it unless more than a few people have it.

Hello,

I recently downloaded the latest official catalyst 5.1 CCC driver and everything seemed fine untill i rebooted my pc. Just b4 desktop came up, the screen went black and stayed thay way. (hanged)

I went back to official catalyst 4.12 CCC driver and problem solved?

I have never had any probs with cat drivers before. I have used cat 4.9-4.12

I really dont understand what the problem is???
