Well here are somethings to try.

#1 Are you OCing anything in your system. If so try bumping it back a bit.

#2 Try using the 67.03 or the 71.24's. Any driver will work well with the Geforce 4. Just because its a "legacy" product does not mean that they have forgotten 😉

Now for the other posts can anyone run some benches with the 71.24's.

" Hey OP thanks for this thread. I have an idea for ya too though if you want to post this link:

Valence Studios Nvidia Modded Drivers

These are modded versions of the Nvidia releases that have better image quality, performance, stability, fixes, Coolbits overclocking built-in, etc.... I have personally used the last two releases and found them great! You could also link to Tech Connect (NGO) and their drivers. With the crappy quality of Nvidia drivers lately (coming out every other day it seems like), it's nice to have a solid set of drivers. They run great on my system.

You can also check out Guru3d.com's forums if you want to find out more about driver releases. They have great info there! "

anyone use these drivers? do they work good?

Ill look into it 🙂 .

As for the second request i am looking around many forums primarliy Guru3d because i am a member of those forums as well.

I am currently working on some benchmarks and adding the valence studios drivers.

I would have it earlier but im up till 2AM as it is with AP classes. That is putting a hold on Friends, Work, and baseball. But its all good 🙂 ... so i should have it up either tonight or tomorrow night.

I'm using the valance XG 71.22 on my 6600GT PCIe and I like the IQ. However, now when I play WoW, I get purple checkers where my quickslots are. If I Alt+Tab out to desktop and back into the game, they go away. I got a few more FPS out of BFV @ 1280x1024x32 and highest settings though! I'm playing around a constant 75FPS...

None of us have any way of knowing. My guess is that we will probably see another 6 series release before a 7 and the 7 sereies will be released later with Geforce 7 series or a little before.

Yes i saw them but am debating whether or not to put them in as they are simple manf supplied drivers with the manf apps ripped out. Not only that they are not as new as some of the other drivers.

As for the Valance Drivers, i will add them lol. I am constantly up till 2:00AM and then up at 6:00 (All for AP English and AP Latin). So ill get around to it fairly soon.

Right now I have 64MB nVidia GeForce2 MX with driver verison 1.5.2.0, dated 8/30/2001. I know it's pretty ancient, but when I updated the driver via Windows Update, I couldn't read DVD's anymore. I want to update my driver and see if I can squeeze anymore out of the card, but I am unsure if today's Forceware drivers would work for my dinosaur and still allow for DVD's to be read. Thanks in advance.

I noticed too in CS:Source, the Aztec level now has muddy water instead of clear water. It looks kind of cool, but then again, ehhh...

BTW, if you play CS:Source, does the ground near the water look overly shiny or is it my system? I'm sure they aren't artifacts. It just looks like the moss covered ground is like shiny plastic.

All updates added. This thread is getting kind of big, so i am looking at a server through my ISP to store "legacy" drivers. I am also looking at other ways to make this easier to read... linking within page (jumping).

The Yellow Water is still yet to be fixed for you GF6 owners.

So far the top 3 drivers to try are 66.81 67.03 and 71.24.

Febuld, well that isn't a DVD reading problem. That is a DVD playback problem. THe drivers are still unified so it should work. I would definately try the newer drivers. If you lose playback then try turning off HW DVD Acceleration.

As for ATI, i mean what can i say. They are doing excellent with there drivers right now. Any changes with that i will post 🙂

Thanks for all the comments and links so far! Suggestions, Comments, and Questions are welcome! 🙂

Nice. I will have to try those. Any real game benchmarks are welcome as well.

All drivers updated! 🙂 (71.40, and 71.50)

All I can say is HL2 seems to run smoother. No yellow water also and great IQ.
The same can be said about Collin McRae 2005.

Had problems with the 71.2's. I got a lot of screen corruption and crashes after soft modding. Went back to the 66.93's.

Thanks THUGS!! If you dont mind i might post those benchmarks on the top of the page for reference.

I saw the new drivers but so many of them are originating from 3rd part manf im hesitant about putting them on. But i will update today.
