Okay, next you must upgrade to Windows 10 test release.![]()
I have it installed on a spare computer and it is used only for limited testing. Basically all it is at this point is what would have been Windows 8.2 with a few added tweaks (very few). Runs stable as a rock but I must say that when I upgraded to the latest build things went a little nuts until I installed the two updates that were ready and waiting. So far, it has been pretty boring.![]()
And I'm not a bit concerned about what MS is monitoring (as in EVERYTHING) on THAT machiine.
I've done a total of 4 Win 10 installs on that machine. One was a clean install then followed by an update install. As mentioned above, those installs went well save for the bit of wackiness prior to the windows updates. On another hard drive that had Windows 7 Pro installed, I did an upgrade first to the initial build and then to the 2nd build. That went smooth as silk. The installs were really quite expedient and required little input.
One odd thing about the preview builds so far is they don't include floppy drive support (an omission Microsoft says will be corrected). Yes, that machine has an unknown device floppy drive.
Isn't the Inquirer a tabloid? Not sure I'd really trust a tabloid when it comes to truth and honesty.
As good as they sound, DoNotTrackMe and Disconnect break the web for me, pages sometimes don't load, can't logon here or there,Browser update:
I don feel bad my second attempt to run Cyberfox failed, but I feel, however irrationally, I let fine helpers here down. I know....it's just me.
But good part: my perspective re my one teeny problem with PM 25 where I have to close the logoscreen upon opening the app, has broadened positive. I still like it a lot, and, again, hope PM face restores it to its former splendor.....at least, doesn't mess it up more.
Yes, after yesterday's attempt and testing.....I did uninstall it and all its residue and reg keys....again. But I learned and am so grateful for the input here in this.
I even wondered if that one of my add ons is Do Not Track, migrated from PM, messed up my ability to log into many of the sites I visit often.
But, for me, there were too many downsides to keep trying to run it, put it right, starting with changing to about:blank left me with the blinding white field.
I like others here adore it and it works well for them.![]()

3) I run SUPERAntiSpyware Free from time to time, not to find any malware, just to get rid of all the tracking cookies
This keeps me safe but doesn't break my browsing experience. No matter how good an add-on is, if it breaks the web, out the Window it goes, example: Ghostery / DoNotTrackMe / NoScript
What scripts? have no idea what they are, all I run is an adblocker, a good antivirus (NOD32) that doesn't slow me down or give me any false positives, MVPS hosts file, and have never been infected????? U run scripts????? I am afraid to do that, even tho, I do get tired of having to hit "temporarily allow all this page" all the time. I just accept it as part of life.
NoScript makes me feel safer. Hope that's not an illusion.

I know, but IMHO, if you're well protected with a good hosts file plus an Antivirus that has HTTP scanning like NOD32 or Kaspersky (I'd never use Kaspersky though coz it's too heavy) then you're fine with one less add-on that cripples the webI luv you've never been infected, I haven't either! Scripts not the enemy, only dangerous/malicious ones are.

Heck, with MVPS hosts file, I can even run with no ABP and I still see 0 ads because they're already blocked by the hosts file.
I believe Norton also does scan for tracking cookies.Interesting! I run Norton IS and like it a lot, excellent detection and lite as a feather, I never have to go near it, it updates and scans ongoing. I do not run either MBAM or Syperanti in real time.
But, again, I've been running NoScript for so long, I would be afraid to disable it. I could be wrong, but I never felt running it crippled anything.

IMO, it's a waste to run NoScript with your setup, just add that MVPS hosts file and you're good.
But hey, whatever works for you, who am I to tell you what to use
One more re running scripts, etc....found this, I found it really interesting:

From a user perspective, you’re going to find a whole host of features that don’t work as expected.
Yes dear, you're breaking your internet without even knowing it. You will be wondering, huh? why can't I login? why don't I see the login button, or any other feature of the site, when Ghostery or NoScript re behind it
But my point is, you hastily blamed Cyberfox at first that you were not able to login, or any other issues. Really, me personally, when a browser gets many updates, I reset my profile and start out with a fresh new profile to remove the bloat of old or uninstalled add-ons, and to ensure I get the latest optimizations since who knows if the upgrade successfully changes the settings and goodies that it brought or not, maybe your default settings break that.
Now with that being said, if you remember back in the day when I introduced you to Pale Moon, I advised to NOT to migrate your FF profile into Pale Moon, yes it may work, but you will run into issues. I would never ever migrate a profile from one browser to another to get the full user experience and to narrow down the problems so if I do run across a problem, I would be able to blame it on the browser or on the incorrect profile migration.
I always thought my English was perfect, until I started reading your posts, I have to click back and forth in Google Translate to translate what you type! LOL I learn new vocabulary with every post you make :wub:I am always interested in wut U and other smart humans here say.....but truth is, I have never had a problem with any browser I've run, even including IE, and 11 isn't that terrible, I was raised to hate it early on.
I did indeed....simply, because the problems it presented were both serious & unique in my experience. While correlation does not imply causation, my blaming Cyberfox was logical. And I also entertained that some of my add ons in migration might have messed sumthin up.
I think logically, this is good advice and I respect yr standards.....but I did migrate FX to PM and never had a problem, and in most ways, still don't.
Perhaps, if I had done a clean install of Cyberfox, no migrating, and taken the time to configure it in every way anew, it would have functioned normally. But, see, in my case, the real issue is, again, my one problem with PM 25 really is miniscule now that I can close out the logoscreen; in every other way, it works as well as it always has. I get from this thread and a previous one, and what I see on the net elsewhere, alas, that's not true for everyone.
Everyone says I am way fussy, but, I think, not as fussy as U! And I ain dissing fussy!
But I am uberly fussy about having my chosen theme, which brings me much happiness, present normally....as opposed to a blinding white field. It seems my fussies (new word) are less sophisticated than yours!:sneaky:
Some of my fussies, beyond demanding basic functions work... are, OK....SHALLOW.![]()

hmm I might actually try that Lavafox theme, looks nice
Checking this out...Avira doesn't like profilebuddy.exe, in version 1.03, suggesting TR/Dropper.MSIL.Gen8 is present.
