Please explain, how?

Haven't used Avira for years. If Avira put it in yr quarantine, don't you have the option to right click on it there and get more detailed info on it?

Or, do you mean you scanned it before unpacking it and Avira said file was infected?

PS, I call infections insects.

Protection apps aren't perfect. Sometimes they flag something wrongly.....we call those false positives. But always good to follow up. Again, when and how were you flagged by Avira??

To save time, I just downloaded a new zip file of The Buddy. Scanned it with Norton, it is clean. 8 files scanned within the zip file, no threats found.
_______________________________________________
Update: Just also scanned the zip file with Superanti.....again it came up clean.

I hadn't used it for a while either...not since they put ask.com in it and didn't tell anyone. Its gone from the installation now.

Clicking on 'details' just gives information on the specific virus it thinks it's detecting. If you or someone else can download that zip file and make sure it hasn't been compromised, I'll override avira.

Thanks. Yes, ads are blocked, and it's triggered by the .exe file.

Checking this out...Avira doesn't like profilebuddy.exe, in version 1.03, suggesting TR/Dropper.MSIL.Gen8 is present.
My NOD32 didn't say anything about it either. Try submitting the file to virustotal.com and show us the results

Where did you find this profilebuddy.exe anyway? I can't find it

Ahah! GOTTCHA!

PS: If U get it, I will be dying to know if you can get it to display properly in the whole Cyberfox GUI!

Edit: C....someone should turn Lavafox Red into fabric! Then, use it to make little dresses and tops!!! I am not kidding. But of course, pay the guy who made it in the first place.
Just tried the Lavafox theme, there is an issue with the theme and the latest Firefox 33.0.2 hence why you are seeing the same issue in Cyberfox, check this thread I posted on the Cyberfox forums and got a reply quickly from the very helpful and modest developer:

https://8pecxstudios.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=679&p=4319#p4319

I will have to contact the Lavafox Author

OMG!! Major props to you for having followed up, and I agree, The Cyberfox guy truly is snappy responsive!

Wow. I guess I should count even more blessings that at least, in PM 25 I finally found a way, to, with one mouseclick, get rid of the new PM logoscreen and reveal the normal GUI I put up which you fell in luv with cause who wouldn't?

I am amazed same phenomenon is present in the latest build of FX!

I wish I understood this more.....what is amiss in the theme itself rendering it not normally compatible.

Thanks again for following up!!!!!! That.....was OUT STANDING.

I despise every default theme and all the infinite ones creative people have written over time for FX. Cept for this one.

Again, you got a false positive. Re the new copy I got for testing for you, via both Norton and Superantispyware....the file is CLEAN. Unpack it and run the Buddy as you originally planned, you will B fine.

This rocks!!!!!! Again, OUT STANDING!!!!:biggrin::thumbsup::wub:

PS: Do I assume correctly that when both string values were changed to about:blank the Cyberfox logo screen went away but you were left with the blinding white field?

Shoulda asked before; did you first install Stylish add on? Cause that is necessary!!! Mentioned this early in the thread, but it was long ago.

OMG, Mea Culpa!!! OK, see when I first got PM, I learned I first hadda get and install STYLISH to get Lavafox to work. Let me find a link, tho you prolly will immediately. Install it and then see if you can then install Lavafox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

That was cute....re goin to see yr mommy.:D

Pls see in yellow. Re why we need it? I have no clue.

Edit: Zigboom guy on his site even says we need Stylish...just found:
http://www.zigboom.com/customization.html

Also says compatible with thru FX36. Have no clue if that's the current build or not.

I am not understanding wut the problem is here, re PM or Cyberfox and this best in the Universe theme. But they will need a SWAT team to separate me from Lavafox Red.

He means the beta app we discussed exhaustively in this thread with the video made by the British guy! the one I first could not get to work cause I chose Pale Moon as the Source Browser.

Boy, this is gettin more and more convoluted and strange and disgusting. Well, feels as if to me.

But the file is CLEAN!!!! I do remember first time I got it, cause Norton scans everythng U download, I got the lower right slide in with the green check saying this is safe. As oppposed to the slide in with the RED saying INSECT! Fear not, we trapped it and put it in yr quarantine.

Both times I tried to install Cyberfox, and also last night when I got a new one to scan for he whose Avira gave a false positive.

Just tried installing Stylish then reinstalled Lavafox FTW but still no joy, the theme is broken with the latest Firefox/Cyberfox, not the browser's fault. The theme needs an update to bring the joy to Ms. Vigorising :$

Hey. Wow. Can U pls share the details of "broken?"

Pls know again, and, as per the last screenie I put up....in PM at least, it is still bringin Da Joy, and no way makin EIGHT TURNOVERS in its touted return to Ohio ....like someone we know.:sneaky::cool::rolleyes:

Again....only current problem: in order to reveal the theme in the main portion of the GUI, I just have to click out new tab so the new Pale Moon logo screen gets gone.

Also, in the brief time I had Cyberfox, the second try, the theme appeared to install normally, but was only visible at the top portion of the GUI. Lower 7/8ths after changing the string values, the blinding white field.

Thanks for your ongoing involvement.

Got a reply from the developer of Lavafox:

Hello Maximus,

The problem is not with the theme that works fine on Firefox.

The changes is because it's based on Firefox but not exactly (for example that menu button does not exist in Firefox)

Unfortunately we can support only one branch which is the official Firefox.

Best Regards,

What I meant by broken is the top left Cyberfox icon is looking wrong and has moved upwards above the tabs on the top left. Otherwise it's working fine.

Now I think of it, since Cyberfox is exactly the same as Firefox but they just removed the extra bloat like Health reporter and accessibility options, I think the problem is not with the browser but with the fact that I am using Classic Theme Restorer which places the Cyberfox dropdown icon on the top left. Lemme try without Classic Theme Restorer and report back.

As I expected, it was the Classic Theme Restorer that broke the theme, I just reinstalled Firefox and unchecked the Classic Theme Restorer (CTR) during installation so it looks like the fugly Australis, and now the Theme works fine:

b7xm9z.png

With that being said, I cannot handle Australis and hate it so much, so I will have to give up on this theme.

As I said earlier, with Cyberfox, every extension / theme should work exactly the same as with Firefox since they are internally really almost the same with just a few differences.

Ooops, after all, it seems like an issue with the theme that the developer won't care to fix:

Hi MaXimus

Unfortunately all the themes by this developer have the same issue if there overriding some CSS elements with !important; or the styling conflicts with the default nature of the theme mechanics.

Here is a list of all support themes that have been tested and confirmed working, The issue is not with CTR or CyberCTR its a theme issue.

o_O:oops:

I am obviously VERRRRY sorry to hear this!

I continue to feel increasingly grateful it still functions (almost) normally in Pale Moon! Each new precious piece of info you provide....makes me feel more and more grateful.

Cept very possible, given the reality of 25, Pale Moon Face will, in future builds, do away with all original theme compatibility cept something he feels we should be running. Meaning, something which will make me nauseated and take away my happiness.

Should that happen, we will take the new fabric made from Lavafox Red and have someone make it into a camo version which the new Theme Seals will wear when they drop down from the Blackhawks which will no longer be black, cause we will paint them Lavafox Red.....drop down onto Pale Moon Face in his compound.

We will not waterboard him, cause we R civilized humans. We will just crazy glue him to a wall and talk to him for a while.:sneaky:

See? Not to worry, I GOT THIS.

Not to hijack Berryracer's Cyberfox thread to a PM thread.....but, I just found this! It's SOOO INTERESTING!

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29...-Moon-25.0-Add-on-Compatibility-List~start=30

Esp this post, which is the one I wanna believe:

I would say that it is more likely that PM has not yet invoked a strict test yet for the new GUID of add-ons which we may wish to install.

Otherwise a lot more of the existing ones would be failing, IMNSHO.

Edit: and....just found this, also interesting:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/red-cats-green-flavor/

Why those humans who appear besotted with that theme called RED CATS have not been locked up, tho....I jus do not get.
Kidding. It's entirely subjective, and I can feel they luv that thing every bit as much as I do U know what.

Wow....QUEL MESS!!!!

But here, we find something so optimistic!!!! Well, if true, I mean.

I would love to see Red Cats developer work with Pale Moon to create a Red Cats that is FULLY compatible with Pale Moon 25 (as 5.6.3 works but Pale Moon says it is not truly compatible). Pale Moon will be contacting theme developers about this issue which is the case for all Fx full themes. Pale Moon now has its own repository for extensions and themes. Full themes like this one are going to take center stage at Pale Moon which I think is great so I'd like to see the developer join their efforts.

Hold on.....

Only now caught below in PM 25 Release notes......so, maybe it's Stylish and not an actual theme?

Name:
Stylish
Type:
Extension
Issue:
Partly functioning / Two icons in Add-on Manager / Editing styles does not work
Resolution:
Pending developer response

told you, the theme is broken

But Stylish works with MANY themes.

But, see above post with some very positive news re what is going on.

AGAIN, my Lavafox Red in PM is not broken; it's simply, the main field of the GUI gets replaced by the new Pale Moon logopage when I open the browser.......until I close new tab. After that it's good to go and normal.

I ain giving up on my Lavafox Red or restoring the compatibility of anything... classic themes and most popular add ons.

Edit: Jus tried to access the site of Jason Barnabe, the guy who wrote Stylish, to address the lack of compatibility issue....got a message I'd never gotten before saying site is under mega load and can not be accessed right now!

Good idea, I wouldn't allow a theme to restrict me to a crippled browser. If the developer has no interest in fixing his theme, I'd stick to classic or get an alternative theme, not the end of the world ;)
