I am not saying that, but Venezuela under Maduro was a future strategic threat vector in the Caribbean that both Russia and China would be all to willing to exploit.

Except as of now the Maduro regime is still very much entrenched. Nothing good can happen for the people there if that regime continues on regime-ing.

It's funny how the anti-immigration crowd is supporting these actions. Creating instability south of the border has always caused migration. If we actually gave a damn about immigration we would be aiding and developing relations with the countries to our south. Mass climate caused migrations are also just around the corner.

If I was a country I would starting up drone and nuke programs. I weep for our future.

The Chinese did not seem very interested in VZ besides buying some oil from them. If Xi really wanted to antagonize us Cuba is right there. Their interests lay much closer to home.

The regime, most of its leadership, most of its military, still exists. The Government of Venezuela HAS NOT CHANGED.
We attacked them, we kidnapped their leader. We royally pissed them off and demonstrated to them that they must attack us.

Way to sidestep the point being made. Venezuela is a much larger country for one. It’s not apples-to-apples. As long as the underlings are there, the situation won’t materially change for the betterment of the people.

Interesting hypothetical... what would Trump do if Venezuela brought in Chinese oil people and money to restart their oil industry and then shipped it out guarded by Chinese warships?

Chinese might not be interested in Venezuela's oil, but they would sure as shit love to make another 'irritant' (like North Korea is) right on America's border.

Just how TACO is Trump? What an easy and cheap way to find out. Would be instructive for the Chinese in context of Taiwan.

China wants to buy energy from the lowest priced most convenient sources. That by definition includes sanctioned countries that have to sell at a discount. It is momentarily advantageous, nothing more.

He is basically saying that if you dont want to be a satellite state to one of the big powers ie USA, now is the time to think about what you gonna do about it.

I think the path forward is pretty clear ... ditch Greenland and annex Russia.

AFAIK there's zero justification for the USA invading Greenland. The only leverage Trump has is $$$ and Denmark has said no.
