I do not know if RippleHost.com supports JSP I would suggest asking this in their pre-sales forum (which does not require registration, you can post the question without registering for the forum).

If you're looking for a webhost which offers JSP support please post in WHT's Web Hosting Requests forum, put JSP and your price in the subject line ... within an hour you'll be swarmed with offers from 13 year old kids who run their own webhosting biz from their basement when they get home from high school everyday at 3PM ;)

dathorn.com is now accepting new customers, 15 accounts were sold soon after they opened the gates.

Should sell out very soon.

Go here for more details.

kermalou - Who is your domain registrar (GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc.)?

Assuming you did it correctly, it can take 12 - 48 hours.

Hey Rossman...I was considering the AddAction hosting. How do you think that compares with PHPWebhosting.com? Right now, I always go through PHPWebhosting, and they've been pretty reliable...no hidden costs, etc. Can I expect the same from AddAction?

BTW, this thread is pretty funny...what do you do with all these hosting accounts Rossman?! You mentioned you have a slew of PHP tutorials...is there a URL?

1) I have heard good and bad things about PHPWebHosting.com but have heard only positive praise about AddAction.net two major advantages AddAction has are it's custom bluetrix cPanel with auto installers and referral program, refer 10 new customers and get FREE WEBHOSTING FOR LIFE!!!. As always I would recommend thoroughly researching both companies, for that I would go to WHT and search for phpwebhosting or addaction

2) Thanks for reminding me about the slew of PHP tutorials I have, unfortunately I forgot which domain I have them hosted on and in what folder. Once I locate it, I'll probably post it here somewhere :D

You may be caching the old DNS.

This thread rocks!!

I just signed up at AddAction and I was perfectly happy with my free hosting at Doteasy:) It just seems like too good of a deal to pass up. It's also nice to now have a place to play with PHP.

Thanks RossMAN for posting all of this great info and for answering everyone's questions.

Went for Ripplehost for play - the fee is still $5.00 for the year :). Used GoDaddy as the registrar... amazingly enough, the names resolved in about 10 minutes (admittedly 12:00 AM Pacific time). Cheap way to dev web pages. Thanks for the heads up RossMAN. I'll probably still go with AddAction for my cousin's commercial site.

So Rossman, what do you prefer? NameCheap or GoDaddy? I have one website hosted with Manlius.com, but thats shared and I'm thinking about registering a new domain and having hosting with AddAction.net.

I prefer NameCheap.com, I like their customer service, no hidden fees (that I have found), great control panel, good price and best of all their propogation is FAST!

I can't quite figure this out. I registered my domain, and signed up for the $4.99 deal. Now what do I do? I can't find the cpanel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Log into RippleHost's Members Area what does it say?

Have you already entered in your credit card number to pay for the $4.99/yr fee?

Have you received your "welcome e-mail" from RippleHost yet? If you have not, then you need to wait for that to arrive.

Remember to go to your domain registrar's website (GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc.) login, update your domain's nameservers to:
ns1.ripplehost.com
ns2.ripplehost.com

I keep on getting erros having to do with my username and password. I cannot login to the Cpanel due to this. I transferred my account to the new domain. I got the welcome email and everything like that. I've also reset my password 3 times and it still won't recognize the pw. Not quite sure what's going on.

If you just bought your domain today or recently updated the nameservers you need to allow 24-48 hours for it to propogate.

If you used NameCheap.com it should be propogated by tomorrow morning or maybe midnight tonight.

Remember your cPanel login is your rhxxx and the password in your welcome e-mail (DO NOT DELETE OR LOSE THIS E-MAIL!!! because it is not easy to get another copy).

If you'd like I can try logging in for you, forward your welcome e-mail to me at rossman@gottadeal.com along with your AIM or MSN screen name.

Thanks for the help. I missed the whole 24-48 hours deal. I'm assuming I use the Ripplehost username and pw to logon to the cpanel tomorrow? I appreciate your assistance, thanks for the deal.

Yep assuming you updated your name servers correctly it should take 24-48 hours (12 hours with NameCheap.com), then you login to your cPanel by going to www.yourdomain.com/cpanel using your rhxxx and password which were emailed to you.

Hey Rossman, I can't access my site at all. I keep having to put sp1.ripple**** to get to anything I've uploaded to the site. I can finally access the cpanel but nothing is working. What am I missing here? From name cheap I entered the 2 nameservers from Ripplehost but still no luck. Any idea why I can't access anything having to do with my site? I appreciate the help. -DaK
