been in contact with a nissan rep over at the na gt-r forums throughout the day, gave him all the info about the dealership, what was going on, negotiated price, every detail we've gone over. About an hour ago i spoke with the dealership's owner who apologized and said there was a misunderstanding and the car is mine if i still want it. Not sure what the nissan rep said or threatened to do but everything is back on schedule.

AFAIK there is no 'rule' they can't sell over MSRP. Nissan North America just highly recommends against major price hikes.

The do review each 'deal' on the GT-R and will kick back those they feel are excessive...but that's a gray area.

Also the dealerships are allowed to collect high deposits on these for custom orders...that are non-refundable.

Oh my. That would've been a fun phone call to listen in on.

Congrats.

Nice, double win. You get the car, and you got to call out a shady dealer move. Having the owner involved after a rep made a call to his dealership for the brands halo car should have the sales guys kissing your ass when you go back. I'd ask to meet with the owner to thank him, just so you have a relationship with him for future reference when going in for service if you'll be going to that same place.

Yeaaa boi! Mah big homie Nissa' got my back when the dealers be flauntin' their wares!

Somehow I am not surprised that the Altima is black...

Thats funny because some of the most douchbag drivers on the road seem to be black cars with HIDs.

You'll catch a lone pair of HIDs in your rear view lane weaving through traffic and cutting people off and driving like a douche, only to get up on your ass, hesitate while they size you up, then violently swerve into the lane that is about to end and gun it for all it's worth to try and squeeze around you when there are 20 cars in front of you anyway, and it's always some uneventful car like a black Altima or Accord that gets it's ass handed to itself.

Most of the ones in my area are SUV's or pickups. The modified cars are more likely to be silver than black, but they're significantly outnumbered by the SUV's/pickups.

I always enjoy that your stories are told from the perspective of "Just another incoming kill..." It reminds me what it is to utterly own douchebag drivers; could've used that 2.0T earlier this week when a Vibe tried to cut me off and later passed me. Guy apparently needed to prove his 4-cyl. was better than a dented granny car lol...

I get that shit all the time in my Camry, I hate it.

The other day a newer yellow turbo Porsche of the 997 variety flew passed me out of nowhere and revved his stock exhaust and turbos at me as he passed when I was in the right lane just cruising behind someone and minding my own business in the Cobra. I hesitated for a second and let him put some distance on me then did a 2nd gear drop and switched lanes, made up the half block, and got on his ass instantly with a symphony of 32v V8, screaming twin screw, and begging tires then let it coast down in gear for like a block staying with him and traffic with no throttle application.

No more revs or anything from him after that. I tried to follow him for as long as it would take to find a spot next to him at a light but traffic was thick and he was eyeballing me in his mirrors the whole time and turned into a parking lot to escape 🙁 You know when someone is escaping their fate when they do that; anybody thinking they are hot and wanting to run that would go out of there way to instigate like that would go out of their way to add 5 minutes to their trip and make a U turn if they thought they had it in the bag.

The most exciting vehicle to attempt something in a long while. I hate people that do that shit. I will deliberately slow down behind V6 Mustangs when there is nobody else around just because I don't want to come off as a douchebag. I don't attack without just provocation.

So swap in the turbo toyota motor you've been talking about! I'm taking care of the turbo swap in my current car before I go looking for a Boss 302! xD

Also, you let the V6 Mustangs win or you don't kill the weak?

I mean I don't like passing certain people who aren't trying to race or anything just because it can come off like a douchebag. I'll avoid it and deliberately take off slow from lights just to make sure I don't accidentally be "that guy" that we are talking about.

I got f**ked in the head severely driving a 4 cyl Camry for the first 7 years of my license and being everyone's b**ch and not being able to do anything about it. Now I will terrorize and destroy anyone who screws with me, or who I can surmise WOULD screw with me if it was a Camry next to them, but I'm also deathly afraid of being or becoming the very thing I despised that made me what I am now...

The 3SGTE Camry is a long term goal when I've got money burning in my fireplace and nothing else to spend it on. Dumping $10k into a $1k car is hard to commit to when there are so many more things you can do with $10k (twins for the Cobra would cost me around $6k). As a beater it needs struts, and a full set of quick struts with mounts and everything are around $650 for the OEM spec ones. There are some K Sport coilovers that are around $950. When I decide to do the struts, I will gauge my level of commitment and willingness to dump money into it in aftermarket parts based on which struts I choose. If I can't justify $300 more on struts, there is no way I'm going to psychologically part with the cash required to do a engine swap.

Hey now, that sounds like precisely what I'm going to do with the Cutlass... (It's worth maybe $2k with repaired doors.) Sleepers ftw!

OP should murder-out his GT-R with matte-black body vinyls. /ontopic lol

At a car meet the other day i say a 2001 gsr with a turbo and all the goodies running e85 run against a stock gtr(besides some gaudy ass rims). They ran from a 60 roll and the integra came in first, all 3 runs. My mind was blown.

Roll Racing against an Awd car is an absolute fail.
