I will start buying the components this weekend.

And Aigo is right, this wasn't due to watercooling, but my own cock up.

Good luck daw123. Once you get that baby running, let it purrr under your water. I'm getting 3.6-3.8GHz at 60C load in 23C ambients. (I'm still trying to get a good compromise between voltages and temps and stability).

Already having fun with my i7.

You need to hurry up.

Way to show off Aigo. I need to find my golden OC on my system. Right now I'm at a safe OC of 3.6GHz @ max temp of 58C. I'm having fun with my i7 920 and GTX 260C216 SLI.

did you try lowering the multi to an odd multi?

the 920's overclock a ton better on the 19x.

You and your i7 965 Aigo...

I did drop it to 19 and my max BCLK is somewhere around 204 w/ voltages around 1.29v Core and 1.32 UnCore. All other voltages are set to base values. Spread spectrums disabled. No clock skews. I just figured I'd stay with the lower voltages at 3.6GHz. 200MHz is not worth the extra voltages over 1.23v Core and 1.27 UnCore

its not just that.

asus and most front running intel did a big goof.

you need to keep a ratio of your vcore and dram, or you can kill your chip.

Your dram votlage must never be more then .5 of your vcore.

This is why ive been ramping my vcore up.

Also i saw the latest tech sheet on i7, and it says max safe vcore is 1.55V!
Oh gowd if people only know how much heat that little chip put out at 1.5V alone..

Woooh Wooooh hold the phone! What???

Asus and such and such did a big what? how? with what? Asus boards are not the best for overclocking the i7??? I don't understand..

Aigo, do you have any links for this (expecially the I7 tech sheet). And do you mean that the DRAM voltage can go up to 2.05V with a max vcore of 1.55V, provided the difference between DRAM and Vcore is a maximum of 0.5V.

Oh, I knew that. My vCore is only .4 away from my vDIMM/DRAM. vCore is 1.24 and the vDRAM is 1.64v (.01 below Intel's max "safe" voltage). I still can't get it stable above 3.6GHz.

EDIT: CPU PLL is bumped up too. Up to 1.96 from 1.8v.

And in short technically yes, but people are reporting that they are killing there chips.

In short tho, i wouldnt push dram more then 1.8

And 1.55vcore, is a very hot chip.

Kinda curious, but what voltage settings are you using on your P6T Deluxe Aigo? (vCore, vCPU-PLL, vDRAM/QPI, vDIMM, and the ICH and IOH)
And if you're using any clock skews and amplitude differentials?

An update on my build.

Since, my car didn't cost me an arm and leg on Friday, I've now placed the orders for everything except the CPU (which hasn't been released yet).

I've posted a detailed update in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=27&threadid=2294421

Can anyone suggest a better location in the case for the 60GB OCZ Vertex SDD?

I figure I may be able to mount the OCZ Vertez in the top bay of the front 5.25" drive bays using the 2.5" to 3.5" and 3.5" to 5.25" drive bay adapters I bought from Ballicom. I may have to cut down the drive bay adapters to get them to fit, since the radiator partially obstructs the top bay. If the SSD still won't fit in the top drive bay then I may be able to fit it in the bottom of the top PSU cage by modifying and using the 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay adapter. I've shown the proposed locations for the SSD in this picture.

P.S. Apologies if my English isn't very good today - I'm hung-over :D

btw I've also bought this surge protector. I would be really p*ssed off if my £2K+ rig was killed due to a lightning strike or power surge.

For starters, make sure the plug you plug into is grounded otherwise your surge protector insurance plan is negate.

Can you mod any place on your case to fit a 2.5" cage sorta like how I did on mine with that funky 3.5" cage? All I did was drill holes accordingly and placed some rubber grommets in the holes for vibration dampening ... i know yours wouldn't need it but that's one possible idea.

EDIT: please tell me you picked up that silver anti - alge coil from Petra - link.

The house has earth bonding, so it is correctly grounded.

I don't really want to mod the case, since if I do any cutting or filing, then I will have to remove everything from the case to clean up the aluminium shavings. I don't want to have to remove and re-install the loop since it was pita installing it the first time.

EDIT: please tell me you picked up that silver anti - alge coil from Petra - link.

No I haven't since no UK shop sells them. You guys in the US are spoilt for choice when it comes to PC components :D. I'll have to stick to the G11 Corrosion Inhibitor additives.

I don't know squat about the SSDs but if they are smaller than the 2.5 hd you should be able to tuck that puppy away almost anywhere. Does it need airflow for cooling or is this an issue at all?

SSDs are 2.5" hard drives (or 100mmm long by 70mm wide by 9.5mm high) so they are tiny.

I've decided that I'm over thinking the location of the SSD too much and I will just stick it where ever it fits inside the case.

I put my 2.5" drive on the side of my 5.25" bays. The width is small enough to fit between screws or thumbscrews of the 5.25" bays so it's vertical and velcro'd on between the backpanel (right side panel) and the 5.25" bays. No pictures because that case is gone.
