If your happy as is don't worry about flashing it, and flashing always has a possibility of trashing the drive. However, RideFree flashed his to a 48x and back with no issues so it can be done safely :) I personally haven't bothered flashing mine yet because it's running great and burning plenty fast for me at the moment, but it's nice to know there's 8x more left in it down the road ;)

The only issue seems to be the media so far as I've had no problems and mine burns fast!

This is one excellent CDRW drive for the money and performance-wise! Got mine last week (thanks for the tip DAPUNISHER!) and have been very happy with it so far. It's a perfect mate for my LiteOn LTR-163 DVD drive. It's very quiet and seems to be well built

My only bitch is that my current version of WinOnCD PE 3.7 will only recognize it as a 20x burner (need a driver update which, unfortunately, is not available). Roxio is no longer providing any support for this version so I would have to upgrade to 5.0 which I don't plan to do. 20x is fine!!!

Padus Diskjuggler burns at 40x no problem using 24x rated Fujifilms (TY) and the same goes for the included s/w, B's Recorder Gold. The dozen or so disks that I've burned (mostly dupes, all on-the-fly) have turned out perfectly...

Once the rebates come in, this drive will have cost me $35.77 total, damn what a deal!!! I remember paying $400.00 for an HP 7110i (2x2x6x) CDRW about 5-6 years ago!!!! And what a POS that contraption was...God I love this forum!!!

I ordered mine yesterday and it got here today hahaha. Thats the fastest free shipping ive ever gotten.. Anyways. I got the 48x/12x/48x instead of the 40x. I was kind of scared about them not accepting the OD rebate because it has a different UPC probably and sku. I went to OD today and talked to the manager who was really nice about it. He said they dont even carry the 40x burners anymore, they are all 48x. I dont know if anyone else got the 48x instead of the 40x, but the SKU# is the same and the rebate "should" work fine.

HEY GUYS,

THIS IS IMPORTANT. Would someone please take a picture of the UPC and send it to my email address? I bought the drive and sent in the UPC code with the receipt.but I have a copy of the receipt and now need another Unofficial UPC code so that I can send that in for another rebate. This will have no effect on your rebate's redemption value. All Sony 40x model CRX195 has the identical UPC code.
