Welp, now it's up to Trump to put his (our) money where his mouth is. He said he would cut aid if they voted for the resolution and it looks like some of the biggest receivers of American foreign aid voted for it. Let's see how full of **** this president really is.

What happens to your credibility when you make threats and never follow through? Does that make future threats more or less effective?

Thing is he didn't say that. Haley said we'd be taking a list and Trump said its disgraceful to ask for money then vote against this (or something similar). I'm getting real good at understanding Trump Speak.

Anyway, what are the implications of this UN resolution?

Global geopolitical implications are:

US will no longer have any role in negotiations between Palestine and Israel
More "terrorist" attacks (hamas vs IDF) in Israel
More "terrorist" attacks on US military
More actual terrorist attacks on US embassy personnel worldwide
Hundreds of millions of extra $ for more security to every single embassy in the Middle east
Netanyahu gets more power
Israel gets to argue that they have at least one country that recognizes their land grab in Palestine

He said "let them vote against us, we'll save a lot of money". What does that mean to you?

And so setting your house on fire thus becomes a good choice?
The thing about hypocrisy is that it doesn't change the truth value of what the hypocrite says.

(I feel the same way when my fat doctor suggests I take more exercise!)
They remind me of the Iraqi Information Minister standing on the rooftop downtown Baghdad claiming there are no American's in the city when a column of US tanks is rolling up the street right behind him. Israel belongs to the Israeli's and they can make their own decisions within their sovereign borders. And I feel ya about the doctor's office. Kind of reminds me of the doctor on BSG advising patients from sick bay while smoking.

How much support again? Oh yeah, you managed to pay off Togo, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Marshall Islands, Guatemala and Honduras. Congratulations on another huuuuge win. You must be a happy little fascista today. So much world respect. Trump will be dancing in his shit tonight.

Just remember you sided with Russia and North Korea and against the US. Since the Senate voted 90-0 in June to reaffirm the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, it seems there a lot of D's and R's are in agreement and this isn't just a Trump thing.

This is why Christians support Israel.

Genesis 12
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Though my point was that my doctor's girth doesn't in itself make me getting more exercise a bad idea. It still stands on it's own merits, however much I might want to roll my eyes at him.

And the whole point of the argument is the question of what Israel's sovereign borders _are_, so saying they can make their own decisions within them doesn't much advance the argument (not to mention that whether other countries recognise a capital is also a question of foreign policy).
I don't think recognising Jerusalem is a helpful thing to do. It's a statement of the US taking sides in a complicated and agonising dispute.

I mean more concretely.

Relevant text:

Affirms that any decisions and actions which purport to have altered, the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council, and in this regard, calls upon all States to refrain from the establishment of diplomatic missions in the Holy City of Jerusalem, pursuant to resolution 478 (1980) of the Security Council;

Demands that all States comply with Security Council resolutions regarding the Holy City of Jerusalem, and not to recognize any actions or measures contrary to those resolutions;

Is the US going to change its stance? What can/will the UN do if we remain in violation of prior resolutions?

The UN, which practically makes a science out of Israel-bashing, rebukes the US over this.

I swear, who possibly could've seen this coming?

Heard an interesting stat that from 2012-2015 the UN passed 97 resolutions condemning countries. Of those, 86% targeted Israel.

I agree, when 80-90% of all declarations are signed against Israel there is a problem. Admittedly Israel has to clean up its act a bit but how many were issued against Israel last year and how many against Syria? Hell lets be crazy an add Syria and NK together. I bet they don't equal half of what was issued against Israel.

How many other nations flagrantly violate UN security council resolutions on a regular basis?

Go look up UN security council resolutions on apartheid south africa. In the early 90s you could've made the same argument that the UN "unfairly" targets south africa.... and in fact that is exactly what apartheid South Africa's UN reps did argue. Israel saw how well this worked, and has been making the exact same argument ever since.

I'm thinking most other first world nations feel that Trump is going to be a one term president and that in the big picture all they have to do is weather this freak storm that is Trump and hope for the USA to pick a new POTUS who is a savvy competent player that knows how to bargain in good faith.

Trump is a cancer on the nation. A fast growing malignant cyst that needs to be removed from the body politic of the nation and rendered harmless along with his fellow corrupted Repubs that's now holding Congress hostage for the wealthy.

Preferably, he needs to be sent back to his private life as the pugnacious pitiful little fish that the big fish know him to be, or better yet thrown in jail with his son and sort'a son for the crimes they're perpetrating against the nation right at this very minute.

The big question is, why this and why now?
It's not like Donald Trump is religious or anything nears the likes of.
Remember, this is the same guy who once said "I drink my little wine and eat my little cracker".
WE know Trump.... he can't just eat one cracker. He wants to eat the whole box.
And wouldn't a hand full of peanuts be tastier anyway? ;)

So the Donald pretends he actually gives a shet about the Holy lands, Israel, or capitals?
This is coming from somewhere, but definitely NOT from the soul of Donald Trump.
Hell, he'd move the capital to Harlem if it tickled his base pink.
All his base is concerned about with this matter is how it somehow plays into their delusional conception of the RAPTURE.
As if any of them will be going anywhere when it comes.
Geez....

How many member states are currently involved in internal conflicts? Syria gassed her own citizens and a resolution failed to be enacted. Yemen? Venezuela?

You don't know who killed those Syrians, but you think you do. Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason Obama didn't go all shock and awe on Assad is because his intelligence agencies told him that it was possible Assad wasn't responsible?

Your mind is clearly a trash bin for US state department propaganda, lol.

Lol now that is funny. First I’m Canadian. Second it wasn’t just the US that came to the conclusion that Assad carried out the attack against his people.

But do go on. This is why you get branded a Putin puppet on here.
