Who will be fired? Chael? The Ref? Dana doesn't have any say on the referees.

I think he was joking.

Fvcking insane. That was definitely a tap, possibly gut survival instinct, but what a sh!tty way to go out when he's seconds from being champion.

lol that wasnt the olympics there is no silver medal. You are the fucking loser, though i dont think he tapped. Dont you have to tap multiple times? Hahahaha they changed the video to multiple taps...

No, in UFC, you only need to tap once and if the ref recognizes it, it's over. At least in multiple fights I've seen, there have been stoppages after 1 tap. Verbal stopping counts too.

silva now holds record for most title defenses, i think.

but he got LUCKY chael was stupid. any other guy w/a brain w/a 4-0 advantage would just cruise and be defensive round 5.

Damn! I knew even after the first and second rounds that with how much punishment Silva took, it could keep happening right up to the end with him still being able to lock in some kind of submission of Sonnen.

I'm not sure if Sonnen messed up, because he had to know that the only way he was gonna lose was if Silva secured an arm or choked him, so you'd think avoiding that would be his primary goal.

reminded me of an old school UFC fight with Sonnen as Shamrock and Spider as Gracie....

That reverse Sonnen pulled in the 4th round was fantastic. Sad for a fighter to all but give away the fight.

Hell yeah, silva won. I guess that's the difference between a winner and a loser. It's all in your head. Gotta keep your composure and come thru at crunch time which silva did. My buddy just called and said silva was gonna lose for sure but he made him tap with 2 minutes left in the fight

I know Dana owns the UFC, I just wasn't sure who the poster was referring to. It wasn't clear.

To be accurate Dana is a minority owner with the Fertiti brothers as principle... I never put anything past the fertitis....those guys are goons.....

Defensive? Are you an idiot? Chael's only chance was to be on the offensive 100% of the time. That's how he won the first 4 rounds...putting Silva in a position he's never been in before. He HAD to be on top. You saw what happened once Silva was able to stand and trade. Chael wanted none of that...he got a few shots in the first round standing up, but after that he took a punch or two and said fuckit and took it to the ground.

Fuck that bullshit, a single random hand to a surface IS NOT A TAP OUT. A tap out is multiple taps to an area. One single touch is not a tap out.

That was such a great card and it was all RUINED by that bullshit of a call. Watch the replay the ref didn't even know what to do, he looked OUTSIDE the fucking ring to make the call.

I may give up on MMA (atleast the UFC) because that shit was so scripted. Fuck that.

That fight pissed me off so much!! Watch the end a tap is multiple and repeated tapping. That did NOT happen. Even the ref didn't know what to do because it wasn't a tap.

UFC = WWE in my book now. Lost so much respect for the sport tonight.

I'm not into UFC enough to know if that counts as a tap but it looked like it was two taps to Silva's leg so I think it was. Plus I don't think Sonnen would have survived it. Maybe if there was a few seconds left, yeah, but there was like 90 seconds left. And I didn't see anything in the match to suggest it was scripted. 😕

There was not two taps, it was a single random touch. Watch the replay it wasn't more then once.

Then you have the ref, who is not even looking at the fighters after it happened but OUTSIDE the ring. So bad.

I can't see it now but when they replayed it a few times after it happened, I thought sure there was two full taps.

In the Fedor-Werdum fight, if I recall, Fedor did one simple tap on his opponent and the ref stopped just from that.

I didn't see the Fedor/Werdum fight, however logic would dictate that if a single tap means I give up, that a lot of random touching could be construed as "tapping out".

It just reeks of script, the ref is even baffled and is barely doing anything to separate the fighters.
