Get a ticket? Complain about the cops.
Somebody gets arrested? Police brutality.
Car gets broken into? F'ing lowlifes.
Get beat up? Oh, wait, this is the internet... we always win.
Grounded? F'ing parents.
Too much homework? F'ing teachers.

I see a trend.

I seem to remember a video of a LV metro officer taking a guy down in a parking lot with a blow to the underside of the jaw. Everybody was saying how sweet it was and what a great move by the cop.

This thread could go on forever. Like I said earlier, if you have never been involved in taking a person into custody, any point you try to make will fall on my deaf ears.

yes, i can see the comparison. his wife/sister/mother always behaves exactly like the fool in the video.

man, why didn't we see it before, all of our wifes/sisters/mothers behave exactly like that fool in the video and must be protected from police brutality at all costs.

Thank you, the idiot factor does have solid representation.

That guy is a jerk0ff no less. But though he's a pretty big guy and not that easy to subdue I'm not sure there wasn't excessive force usage when it came to tazering him.

IMO the guy was being an asshole, but that doesn't necessarily justify tasing him. The video is too murky to really see the extent of his resistance, and I wouldn't support tasing him if all he's doing is passive resistance to being removed.

even if they warned him that if he didn't calm down he'd be tased?

Not in my opinion. Although he was being disruptive, his actual speech was constitutionally protected, and IMO it isn't appropriate for the police to escalate their use of force to using a taser unless the suspect is actively resisting. Being annoying alone doesn't warrant the use of force. Again, the video is too unclear to really know whether he did anything to justify their use of force - it may have been legitimate.

A competent officer would have resolved the situation without escalating the level. These untrained baffoons made it seem to me that if they had rubber bullets they would have gone to shooting by the end of the video.

without being there and witnessing it (yes, the video tape was poor quality) i guess none of us should really draw conclusions.

No.

Once again from the michelle malkin website linked on page 3:

What she says doesn't matter, she is 100% wrong. They had ONE cuff on him and in the first video linked in the OP you can CLEARLY see that while they were trying to put the other one on he was squirming and he put his hand up on the armrest of the chair next to him while he was being tased.

I honestly don't see how it could be any clearer. Both of his hands were not cuffed before he was being tased.

Edit: http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/balt/taser.jpg

Look at that and then watch the video again. His hand is waving around on camera, clearly not cuffed, the second before he gets tased.

IMHO I think the guy would have left the forum if they had let him, but the cops decided to bum rush him and arrest him. Obviously he didn't want to get arrested, and I don't see why they arrested him in the first place. I think it lies on the fact that the cops told him that they were going to arrest him. If they had said please sir we're going to have to ask you to leave, and then escorted him out this never would have happened. I see this being the cops fault.

Did they? It looked to me like they just tried to escort him out. I didn't hear them say anything about arresting him before he started flipping out.

Yup, they were not arresting him. We do have the right to free speech, but they also have the right to boot his ass from the auditorium at any point for any reason.

Looking at the video he questions them when they approach him, saying "You're arresting me?" and that's where it gets out of hand. So either this kids a real deuche or he didn't deserve it.

Douche. Not on video. He barges into the event with cops chasing him, cuts the line of people wanting to ask questions, grabs the mic and demands to be heard even though the last question has been asked. Sen Kerry says that he'll answer his question after he finishes with the current one. Douche gives a video camera to the person he just cut in line and ask her to video tape him. Then video.

His questions were valid, and he did not need to be tasered after they had him restrained. That kid is going to sue and live fat and happy off his winnings.

That then begs the question: were they justified in making that threat? If I'm jaywalking and a cop threatens to shoot me if I don't turn around and go to the sidewalk, and I keep walking and get shot... obviously that is somewhat stupid on my part, but at the same time the officer is obviously not justified in shooting me. Just making a threat doesn't make it okay...

he was asked to leave. he refused. he even tried to run around the cops.

Now the cops have to restrain him to get him out. he was fighting the cops and holding onto chairs etc. they then tazed him to get him to let go so they could handcuff him.

WHEN TAZED HE WAS NOT IN CUFFS>

Yes, they were justified. In all likelihood, he was warned with the hopes that he would smarten up and stop resisting. Btw - there is no requirement (at least up here) to warn someone prior to deploying a Taser. It may be more effective without the warning, as it's one helluva surprise...
