I will let you in on a little dark secret of the gay community, something a lot of gay people do not want to talk about.

That little dark secret is a good number of gays were sexually abused as children.

As with battered women syndrome, for some reason gays are attracted to the sex that sexually abused them.

That does not go for all gays.

Why does a woman go back to a man who beats her? It is that same physiological problem that causes people to be attracted to the same sex that sexually abused them.

Got any gay friends? Especially gay men. Talk to them about it.

Ok ill admit this thread just got interesting

I guarantee more straight women are raped or molested than gay guys are gay because of any child abuse.

I guess that makes women who like sex immoral.

Oh wait, you likely believe that too.

Maybe that is why 50 shades of Gray is so popular amongst women? :whiste:

LOL, you're a joke.

Do you have any gay friends?

Now you are venturing into whacko land. I have known plenty of gay people and been friends with plenty others. None of them showed signs of being abused as children.

What are the signs of being sexually abused? Do they carry a big sign around with them?

Do you have any gay friends that you are close to? Any that you can have a serious conversation with?

I had a gay friend, but we lost contact with each other over the years. He was sexually abused by his uncle. All the men he had relationships with had been sexually abused as children.

We had some honest, open, and heart to heart conversations about being gay. He was the person who told me about the gay communities little dark secret. He often wondered if he had not been abused if he would still be gay.

This person also had a twin brother who was not gay.

Really? Sexual abuse typically manifests itself in destructive behaviors. Such as drug or alcohol abuse, violence, sexual problems or frustration ect. Not people who work steady jobs, are educated, or productive members of society.

I am sure some gays were abused as children just like straight people were abused. But I dont believe being abused turns people gay.

I think his argument was that being gay was a sexual problem caused by abuse.

The issue may be that "problem" is typically a value judgement on whether a sexual abnormality(of which homosexuality unquestionably is) is bad.

Exactly my point.

I am telling you what I was told by a gay man. A good number of the gay men he dated had been sexually abused, and he had been abused by his uncle.

I would like to see something from zsdersw on my post.

Where's that Micheal Jackson popcorn gif, seems appropriate here! I'm just shaking my head head too much at the lulz to be genuinely outraged ;)

If this was the big deal predominant cause/explanation you think it is, wouldn't all or most gay people have been sexually abused as children? Wouldn't the number of gay people be much higher?

I think you don't have any idea what you're talking about, and will use anything to justify having stupid, backward, and wholly ignorant views on homosexuality.

For the record I totally agree with you on this matter and hope the judge is overturned, but I think he has you on the moral issue.

AFAIK, "moral" derives from the latin word for "popular". People mistake morals with ethics, and think that morals have to do with what is "right". In very conservative cultures, homosexuality is immoral, and this situation does indeed violate the morality clause only because it is something that most people believe is wrong.

"Very conservative cultures" is not the US or Canada. He doesn't have me on anything.

I did not say all, or even close to all.

Debate me, not insult me.

How many gay men do you know? Have you had discussions on abuse when they were children?

I get more of a feeling that this happened to you and this is why you are pushing the idea that it is a "lifestyle."

Actually you have a bit of problem with your argument. I mean this case really would seem to demonstrate that being homosexual is a choice.

I mean the lesbian in question married and had 1+ children in a heterosexual relationship...

Umm, I don't think so. There are many OBVIOUS reasons why this would be the case.

Funny that none of the people in this thread, including you, are willing to talk about your homosexual experiences that led you to choose heterosexuality...

I did not say all, or even close to all.

Then why should we regard it as anything except an anecdote?

Debate me, not insult me.

You've said insulting things. I'll respond in kind if I want to.

How many gay men do you know? Have you had discussions on abuse when they were children?

I'd say I know about 100 or so, well enough to know they were not sexually abused as children.

That has yet to be proven.

Show me the gene for gayness, and I will retract my statements and post an apology.

Hey Texas...just curious...since youre insinuating homosexuality is a choice, Id like to know at what age did you decide to be straight? What were your feelings before you decided?

Are aware of how many straight women were abused in their lifetime?

Ive known probably 20-30 gays (male and female) throughout my life, and very few of them admit to being abused. Most, if not all, have all said the same thing: they knew for as long as they could remember.

I've already asked three times and the coward ignored it all... Instead, he doubled down on his lunacy and is now pushing the idea that people are gay because they are abused...

Animals throughout the kingdom have a gay population and we are animals just like them.

Have you talked to them and specifically asked if they were abused as children?

Very few? Or none?

That isn't an insult. YOU said it was a choice, so YOU tell us about your experience in coming to a choice of your own.. it ONLY makes sense that you tried both if it was an actual choice for you. I, along with everyone else with half a brain, realize that NO CHOICE was made! This is why you are such a coward...

"Very conservative cultures" is not the US or Canada. He doesn't have me on anything.

It's Texas. Gay marriage is illegal, and apparently breaking up lesbian homes is legal. If a gay marriage law were to go to referendum in Texas, it would probably fail.

Popular opinion there is that gay marriage is wrong - hence it is immoral.

I don't agree with it, but that's the way the wind blows.
