He's "discussed" the Sinclair broadcasting issue - pointing out the "fakers" at CNN, NBC, ABC & CBS. But does not realize that Sinclair owns many NBC, ABC & CBS stations

I am right about Amazon costing the United States Post Office massive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy. Amazon should pay these costs (plus) and not have them bourne by the American Taxpayer. Many billions of dollars. P.O. leaders don’t have a clue (or do they?)!

Amazon doesn't pay taxes? As per trump himself, doesn't that make them smart?

So when the vast majority of Amazon's shipping is not through the Postal Service, how big a hit will the USPS take in its financials? Will Spanky Bonespurs tweet about how unAmerican Amazon is because it's no longer shipping through the USPS? He should create an executive order demanding that the USPS charge more. Fedex, UPS and the rest of them would love it.

Main take-away: Trump is a moron...

In reality, Trump really hates self made billionaires, particularly ones that own newspapers that he doesn't like what they write about. Trump hates *real* billionaires, because he knows that *real* billionaires know he's a fraud. Trump is not a real billionaire; he's just expert at using his debt to leverage his creditors into keeping his little scam empire afloat. Smart creditors cut him off years ago, which is why he ran to Russian oligarchs as a last resort. They lent him money because while it's doubtful that Putin and his oligarchy saw any real chance to turn a real profit on Trump's businesses, they saw an opportunity to disrupt American politics. They knew Trump is an idiot and could be a politically disruptive force.

Trump and Republicans are the ones that put the new tax laws into place so Amazon did not pay FEDERAL taxes, they only have themselves to blame. They still paid state taxes.

I dont understand why he is still in office. They got their tax break allready .. or are they worried the next guy in line (Pence, Ryan?) is going to take it away?

Because that would mean the Republican party made a mistake. They would never admit to that unless basically forced and it may come to that.

I have a serious question. Can a president be sued for libel by a private company like Amazon. Here he is, the president of the US spouting nonsense that is costing a US company millions of dollars and directly effecting the stock markets. I can't think of any president who has ever done anything remotely this destructive.

I have no idea, but I'm going to guess we may just find out exactly what sort of ramification these actions may have. Amazon is no small bear to be poking - in fact I can't think of a company with deeper, more powerful pockets (Walmart or Apple would be in the running). Ironically the Trumps sell their junk on Amazon already and there was a "boycott" from the left on Amazon due to it's "support" of Trump. I feel that is going to do a quick 180.

Amazon will likley (attempt to) punch back, and it could be pretty hard.

PS: I just ordered $200 worth of crap from Amazon today. That's a normal occurrence for me.

It would be interesting to see whether any of the Trumps (or their confidants) shorted Amazon stock before His Donaldship went on the warpath against Amazon. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if they did.

I'd guess that would be one of the first things Amazon's lawyers will look into.

Back in an earlier era conservatives would have called this 'picking winners and losers' and would have been incandescent with rage. Oddly enough I haven't heard from them about this but I'm sure that's just a coincidence. As for Trump being sued it would depend on whether or not the defamatory communications came as part of an official act he was taking. If he's defaming Amazon as part of his conduct as president there's not much to be done about it. If he's doing so as a private citizen then yes he's open to being sued.

Regardless, this is insanely bad from a governance standpoint. It's totally obvious that Trump is trying to pick a fight with Amazon because he's angry that the Washington Post reports on him critically. Basically we have a situation where the executive is attacking American businesses who insufficiently flatter him. That should be a huge red flag to anyone.

Ichan seems to make the most obvious, shameless moves that correlate strongly with Trump's directed market manipulations.

What's really ironic is that the people who depend the most on the Post Office are all reliably Republican demographics. Rural areas where UPS and FedEx won't bother to set up distribution centers, the elderly who don't use computers and rely on the mail for their bills and correspondence, big businesses who send out advertising flyers.

And, the USPS' operating costs are necessarily higher than a private firm's because it is required by law to provide service to all those remote areas. That also makes a delivery deal with USPS an attractive proposition to the likes of Amazon, FedEx, and UPS. There's money to be made in it for everyone.
