Meh maybe so but freedom of the press & stuff.

That is not freedom of the press. Freedom of the press is publishing the story, not trying to force people to cover you favorably by threatening people with the story. The only thing that might save Trump from more felony trouble is that he was offering to prevent its release not threatening to release it himself.

https://beta.code.dccouncil.us/dc/council/code/sections/22-3252.html

§ 22–3252. Blackmail.

(a) A person commits the offense of blackmail, if, with intent to obtain property of another or to cause another to do or refrain from doing any act, that person threatens:

(1) To accuse any person of a crime;

(2) To expose a secret or publicize an asserted fact, whether true or false, tending to subject any person to hatred, contempt, or ridicule; or

(3) To impair the reputation of any person, including a deceased person.

If this provokes Trump to take to TV for a press conference, then I owe Mika and Joe a wedding present.

Was the implication that he's a drunk, and operating a vehicle?

No because sadly I think like these guys. Joe like to protect Mika and his reputation. I'd go with something like
"Since their engagement Mika is driving Joe insane!"
(Insert disheveled picture of Joe and ugly picture of Mika)
"He buys beer and nips at all hours of the night, Mika is killing Joe"
Insert quicki mart guy

You like to bicker too much. Calm down guy

I'm just saying it's hard when it involves two public figures who ask for news coverage or advertising

I'm not going any further down this rabbit hole over a simple comment

Trump going to lose it for sure. If Mueller doesn't get him, his crazy will probably do the job. The man can't keep his shit together and has been melting down like a small child who isn't being bought a candy. The media should keep this up against him. Mercilessly attack and skewer the man and push him right over the edge, it's clear he can't handle it.

http://thehill.com/homenews/media/340229-morning-joe-personality-challenges-trump-to-a-fight

“Morning Joe” regular Donny Deutsch challenged President Trump to a schoolyard fight on Friday while calling him “physically disgusting.”

“Donald if you’re watching, we’re from Queens. I’ll meet you in the schoolyard, brother,” Deutsch said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Deutsch went off on Trump a day after the president sent out a tweet ripping “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski for having a low IQ and accusing her of showing up at his Mar-a-Lago estate with her face bleeding from a face-lift.

Much of Friday’s show was dedicated to discussing Trump’s tweets, with Deutsch deciding to use personal insults.

“He's physically disgusting to look at. That's what I find ironic about the way that he starts to always go after other people's physical attributes,” Deutsch said.

“Enough is enough!” Deutsch added a bit later. “Enough is enough with this disgusting, vulgar man! To talk about women that day, and the irony is that you physically look like you do, beyond the stupidity of it, you are a pig! You are a bully! And you are doing disgusting things to this country.”
Brzezinski and Scarborough were supposed to be on vacation on Friday, but came back to the show address Trump's Thursday tweets while also writing an op-ed for the Washington Post.

“For those lucky enough to miss Thursday’s West Wing temper tantrum, the president continued a year-long habit of lashing out at ‘Morning Joe’ while claiming to never watch it,” the two wrote, saying Trump “fit a flurry of falsehoods in his two-part tweetstorm.”

The MSNBC hosts has been highly critical of Trump since he took office in late January, calling him a “fake president” and comparing him to “a boy who pooped in his pants” in recent weeks.

Scarborough and Brzezinski once faced accusations that they were too supportive of Trump during last year's White House race, when the billionaire candidate called into the program on multiple occasions.

Trump has not appeared on “Morning Joe” since May 2016.

All that does is lend credibility to his behavior, in whatever twisted way it does. Let him meltdown. But that validates what his mouthpieces have been saying about him being attacked in very personal and cheap ways himself. The high ground is lost when that happens.

Granted, he's still the president, they are not. But the general public isn't usually so finicky. If you want the people who support him or who are on the fence to see what's wrong with his actions this won't help.

It's not classy, but the idea to is to push Trump to ever increasing mental and emotional breakdowns. Erode his standing further and further with his unhinged conduct. It is one strategy to nullify him. It's an obvious weakness; Trump is extremely sensitive and can't handle any criticism without a tantrum, it's one that can be exploited.

Ironically, I think he would do well to get an old school ass whipping on a playground, he probably never got one (and we see the result).

I agree completely though, this whole thing is just surreal. Like, Dubya looks positively Lincolnic in comparison (can that be a word? I'm making it a word.)

It may not be the best approach in civilized society, but our brains are definitely hardwired to learn from pain. Getting your ass kicked by someone you insulted teaches you humility at a bare minimum, and hopefully some modicum of 'think before you speak' as well. Everything else requires a lot more than two brain cells so I won't posit their likelihood with Trump.

I don't think it takes a beating to be humbled. That's the thing that's required here.

But every time that feels to be creeping into his brain... HEY! Let's have a big rally so I can be showered in "love"!

It IS sad. There's also not much that can be done about it. I hope people keep poking him and it leads to him completely unraveling and being removed... but I'm not holding my breath for that either.

Maybe, but there's an argument that what he did do was functionally the same thing. A better defense might be that this threat wasn't aimed at getting them to refrain from doing anything. According to Scarborough, the threat was made to induce them to grovel before Trump. Technically, he didn't say it was to make them shut up.

Trump will skate on this, again. However, his conduct is so often at the margins of legality that I think one of these days he's going to cross over into less ambiguous territory.

Now this but I doubt it will go anywhere, however it is good to see a plan b if needed.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...o-bill-to-impeach-trump/ar-BBDxegQ?li=BBnb7Kz

The bill would create a congressional "oversight" commission that could declare the president incapacitated, leading to his removal from office under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
<snip>
"In case of emergency, break glass," Raskin told Yahoo News. "If you look at the record of things that have happened since January, it is truly a bizarre litany of events and outbursts."

Raskin said that Trump's tweets show a pattern of instability that means he is unfit for office.

drumpf's undoing will be like that of capone. not taxes specifically, but a petty thing they hang a lot on. he's just a walking pile of shit.

Yeah, I keep thinking its close to impossible that a R would jump ship but I do have a feeling if a few whacky things happen one or two could, then its open season and who knows who'd jump on board. I'd bet Ted Cruz would loooove to see a President Pence.

as Sarah Huckabee Sanders said last week "Trump has never promoted or encouraged violence'

prediction - after getting called out for this, some Trumper is going to say that wrestling isn't real violence, it's just acting.
Too late, I just heard that argument on cable news (can't remember which one) an hour ago

Because its not, its obviously comedy. However its also very juvenile and something I'd see on these forums. Its funny for someone here to post it, its not funny when the President posts it.

People are saying that Republican want to put more limits on the President.

Congress is taking back power from President Donald Trump on national security matters.

From Russia to the Pentagon budget, Republicans in Congress are proposing new checks to curb the White House's power and in some cases simply ignoring the Trump administration's desires on national security and foreign policy.
Wary of favorable comments Trump has previously made about Russia, the Senate has passed a significant Russia sanctions package that gives Congress the ability to review any administration effort to roll back sanctions against the Kremlin. Congressional committees approved three defense bills this week boosting Pentagon spending by about $30 billion more than the Trump administration proposed after Republicans complained that Trump's budget failed to rebuild the military as he promised.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/01/politics/congress-trump-war-power/index.html

*For the record I wanted this stuff under Obama too. I don't like how Congress has handed off it's powers to the President in an attempt to support anything that goes well and disavow anything that goes poorly. When we're talking sending troops somewhere it's important to have consensus

Edit: This Republican Congressman says he doesn't like "weaponizing media distrust"

Huh. Maybe Trump tweets his way out of the job and basically Spicer outlasts him... who would have guessed that?!

The G 20 Summit was a great success for the U.S. - Explained that the U.S. must fix the many bad trade deals it has made. Will get done!

I strongly pressed President Putin twice about Russian meddling in our election. He vehemently denied it. I've already given my opinion.....

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/884013689736769536
...We negotiated a ceasefire in parts of Syria which will save lives. Now it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russia!

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/884016887692234753
Putin & I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded..

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/884018776391503872
...and safe. Questions were asked about why the CIA & FBI had to ask the DNC 13 times for their SERVER, and were rejected, still don't....

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/884020939264073728
...have it. Fake News said 17 intel agencies when actually 4 (had to apologize). Why did Obama do NOTHING when he had info before election?

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/884027201804488704
Sanctions were not discussed at my meeting with President Putin. Nothing will be done until the Ukrainian & Syrian problems are solved!

I don't see how this could turn out better for Russia. A joint cybersecurity project with the people who hacked our election? Trump is a KGB wet dream.
