Trump to run in 2024, say anonymous sources

Anon sources inside the Trump camp telling CNN that Trump says he will run in 2024 unless he's in poor health.

"Trump is confiding in allies that he intends to run again in 2024 with one contingency: that he still has a good bill of health, according to two sources close to the former president. That means Trump is going to hang over the Republican Party despite its attempts to rebrand during his exile and its blockade of a Trump-centric investigation into January's insurrection."

The article pitches this development as bad for the GOP. And maybe it is. But it's terrible news for the rest of us as well. Even in the best case scenario, if Trump wins his primary but loses the general election, he's going to claim election fraud yet again. The entire thing will be another tissue of lies which demean democracy and threaten its very existence. And that isn't even to speak of what would happen should he actually win.

Well of course he's going to run.

Didn't think for a moment he wouldn't and he'll win by contesting the election and the house (then controlled by GOP) will just hand him the election. He doesn't even have to do anything.

He will. but he will wait until much later to make it official, once he does then strict campaign finance laws come into play over the whopper "save America" slush-fund he raped his deluded followers over.

Well, then, it's my duty to pray for his poor health. Yes, thoughts and prayers for the former president's poor health.

Oh yes, without a doubt. If Trump got hit by a bus tomorrow, it would be the best thing that could happen to this country.

The way I see it, there's a 50/50 chance of Trump being either 1) in jail, 2) dead, or 3) too physically infirm to run. I break it down as about 25% jail, 25% death or poor health.

So we have a coin toss chance to avoid it, but if not, then 2024 is going to be yet another tense year in this country.

Yes.

The man never fails to make me nervous. I am really glad he's like on the dark side of the moon now. I don't want to see his ugly star rise again. I find him repulsive, consistently.

he can't pardon state level charges and New York is going after him hot and heavy.

Yes, but they're going to have to have sufficient evidence to get a verdict BRD. Often times with white color crimes directed at corporate organizations, the leaders are insulated and end up skating. You can get one person like Weisselberg to turn on Trump, but his word alone won't be enough as he made a deal for reduced punishment in exchange for his testimony.

I'll believe Trump going to jail when I see it. Like I said, I give it 25% covering all possible prosecutions.

If that happened the unrest, the demonstrations, the civil disobedience, the violence that would ensue would make the George Floyd uprising look like a picnic.

Yes, most definitely this!

But I cannot help but imagine the fun it might be to see Trump lose out to another Republican candidate in the primaries, and then watch Trump accuse the Republican Party of "stealing his landslide nomination". It'd be like watching a snake eat itself! 😜

But actually, I seriously want both parties to put forward their best new (younger) candidates in 2024. They owe it to this country to do so!

I've long since run out of words in the English language to describe my feeling about Trump, but yes, that word works about as well as many others.

as long as voter suppression does not get out of control, Trump running in 2024 is most likely good for the Democrats.

I doubt that. Nobody unites and excites the base like Trump. I think he has at least a 50/50 chance to win, especially if Biden bows out and Kamala is the candidate.
A lot depends on the economy, I think. We are due for a "correction" or worse in the market, and inflation could also be starting to rear its ugly head.

And nobody, I mean nobody, excites the Democratic base like voting against Trump.

I dont think so. Dude has no intention of running. But it will carry the grift for another 3½ years. Good news is that there will be no second.. that is there will be no backup plan.

I wonder what makes him and his supporters assume he won't be indicted and prosecuted for any number of crimes he's committed before the 2024 campaign season starts rolling into the meaty part of it all?

It's very hard to convict Trump personally criminally. While he is a crock, i can't imagine former president behind bars, not in US at least. His organization will very likely to be sued/charged but i am not seeing Trump getting charged criminally.

he's "running" to get the grift. There's money to be squeezed out of these rubes and he knows it. There's no chance of him wining, except in his pocket book.

Which his legions of armed cultists would be happy to put down.
