Seems to be a recurring theme with Trump and the MAGAs to make up obvious defamatory lies in order to justify the unconstitutional use of govt violence against American citizens whose speech they disagree with.

I think Trump is in a pretty tough spot with these protests regardless but of all the avenues he could take I do not think 'the old man shoved down on camera deserved what he got' is going to be a fruitful one.

Trump is doing this because it's all he's emotionally and psychologically capable of. He was able to show sympathy and contrition for about one day but as soon as that didn't work he went right back to attacking everyone who disagreed with him.
