That might be a bit overboard but I will agree the current approach towards media is disturbing. They really do seem to want to silence dissenting voices that go against the narrative they want to portray.

Is this the media guy who created a media website to distribute his own brand of media who peddled bullshit for years about the president?

Let me go see if I can find some sympathy for this admin.....

Nope, I'm all out.
The very guy. He also came up the tactic that any attempt to disagree with his media outlet makes one a member of the 'Authoritarian Left' and an enemy of free speech. And yet here he is, a senior official in the new administration, actively advocating government suppression of freedom of the press.

The rights top go to play is to accuse others of doing the very thing they themselves are doing.

Advocating government suppression of freedom of the press? Where did you get that drivel? He's saying that most of the media is hard core lefty liars, heavily biased and pretty much democratic propaganda. That's all spot on correct. There's no mention of anything whatsoever to do with "silencing" anyone or touching the freedom of the press no matter how much most of them lie.

There's nothing disturbing about it. Most in the media have treated Trump and his supporters with disdain and tried everything in their power to undermine and discredit him. He's just calling them out on it. He's not saying they aren't allowed to keep lying, he's just pointing out that they are liars. Nothing wrong with that.

You are free to express yourself, just like someone else is free to say that you are full of crap.

Might back up a bit though. While the Press has no love at all for Trump, he does come up with whoppers far beyond what we've seen, and he has come up with some spooky stuff and that's not misrepresented. I'm really not going to listen about millions of illegals voting when it's patently false.

I must have missed the part of the 1st amendment that said a senior government official is allowed to tell the media to 'keep its mouth shut' because of where that media might lie in the spectrum of political opinion.

Absolutely agree 100%, that's why at no point have I said that Trump is the truthspeaker that we must blindly believe. He's full of crap as well.

Did a law get passed? Was there policy made? He simply stated his opinion that the lying dirtbags need to shut up and listen sometimes. He's correct. And?

Trump is doing everything in his own power to discredit himself. Have you seen the shit he says and does? I'm sure you'll continue to twist yourself into a human pretzel though to ignore the truth. To you, the guy with the best words is just being misunderstood and twisted by the lying media

Exactly, anyone who says so much crap and flip flops as much as trump would be ridiculed by the mainstream media as much as Trump.

But at some point the conspiracy theory heavy websites that are pro Trump will turn their back on him as he becomes the establishment. Just like Infowars truthers called the pizzagate shooter a "false flag." But i will not argue a conspiracy since either defense you take is proof that the conspiracy is real.

Would you have been of the same opinion if a senior Obama administration official had told a right wing media outlet to 'keep its mouth shut'? Like Breitbart, for example?

Yet for some mentally challenged reason when the press points out his BS you go off about the "lefty media" and its lies.

Do you have multiple personalities? Is that your problem?

The OP's NYT Article
“The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while,” Mr. Bannon said during a telephone call.
“I want you to quote this,” Mr. Bannon added. “The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States.”

Not quite the hostile takeover the OP would have us believe. Yes it's a hostile tone, but it's an angry plea for understanding.
Not Presidential, but when did anyone expect that of Trump and company?

No you are wrong. He said that calling out lying dirtbags for being lying dirtbags is wrong. A totally different situation.

Honestly I can't believe anyone is either naive enough or partisan enough to justify a call by a top tier White House official for suppression of the freedom of the press and freedom of speech. Might as well use the Constitution as toilet paper.
