I thought it was reported that the FBI told his Secret Service detachment well in advance that they would be calling? Makes sense, as otherwise there would be potential for a pretty spectacular intra-service mix-up (much though the callous side of me would have loved the drama and news-value in that).
I can't work out what Murdoch's position is these days. I mean, indirectly, with his media's support for the most extreme Trumpist positions, he's to-all-intents-and-purposes on team Putin.
But on the other hand, I haven't noticed his papers (don't know about Fox - Tucker Carlton seems to be an exception) actively siding with Russia over Ukraine. I had the impression the likes of The Sun were pretty much on-message with the standard "patriotic" line.
Really doesn't seem to me that Murdoch's media have a consistent angle these days.

Exactly, but they also know that the longer they can build the lie, the longer they can make it stick to the mushheads, no matter what reality is truth in the end. Enough will be so irredeemably bought into the lie by then, that they will be lost.
We've still got complete choadheads that are ballsdeep to this day on Barr's version of the Mueller report. They literally have no clue what what is in this report, but are completely past the point of accepting the plain truth that 12 acts of obstruction of justice were plainly spelled out, recommended investigation, and that Mueller's power was limited to the very scope that his investigation achieved...oh and that it actually made money from the 31+ criminals in the Trump family that the investigation actually indicted and received convictions for, But, you know, none of these fuckers believe any of that actually happened. They literally do not know the truth about who they are anymore, these fucking Trump supporters.

They will never, not once, make the actual argument for how "Democrats violate the constitution."
They will just keep saying that, and support each other for saying that statement, and determine it good and sufficient for accepting as truth. We will never hear about these actual violations that are actually real.
There are never any examples. No specific, defendable examples of that ever actually happening. Just things they think happens, and enough of them think it and hey, "We're all on the internet together saying this same thing so don'cha know! It must be true, darnit!"
They will never try to make a defendable argument about this kind of charge. They will just attack you for asking them to argue it. You will be mean and "challenging their opinions!" Because how dare you challenge their opinions because that's all that matters when it comes to discussing real things that actually effect people: opinions; not the actual truth of the world as it is, and the criminals stealing money out of your pocket as you gleefully support them in their promised quests to murder and disenfranchise all the types of people that you also obviously hate.
That is how the GOP brain works^. It isn't at all complicated.

Maybe - I don't know nearly enough about internal US or Republican politics to be able to judge for myself if that's what it's about.
Just am puzzled about the inconsistency in the Murdoch empire with respect to Russia, specifically. Tucker Carlson seems an outlier, being fully on "team Putin" - though the rest of Fox doesn't seem that far behind. And very clearly Murdoch's pro-Republican and anti-Democrat, and frequently seems to repeat the talking points of Putin's proxy, Trump (e.g. all that Hunter Biden stuff)...but I haven't noticed The Sun or The Times being pro-Russia in relation to Ukraine at all (maybe I haven't paid close enough attention?).
Similarly he was once very cosy with the CCP, but then seemed to move away from China again - presumably because he wasn't getting the results he wanted there in business advantage?
Murdoch moves in mysterious ways, his horrors to perform. I suppose because it's all driven by business and profit, rather than abstract ideology.
I really wonder what Taj's view on this issue would be. Every Republican supporter on these forums agree on one thing, but their explanation of their agreement is always different.

But his empire is all over the god damned globe and its pretty consistent at what it does over a broad range of subjects, for one it has a very lose relationship with the truth, in all aspects it is more akin to a propaganda machine than it is of anything else. I also think the mixed messaging is by design, as to not come across as one sided as Russia Today, people that consumes Murdoch "news" is not as brainwashed as those who gobble up Sputnik News - Yet.
And I fear you're wrong about the abstract ideology part. Or even worse horrified by the prospect that you are not - cause that would mean that the nature of todays capitalism is as toxic to a free society as Trump is to integrity.
In regards to DeSantis, I am positive that they were in the process of ditching Trump cause of the "You cant win a primary without him but cant win a general with him" .. but if that changes, my Murdoch emulator says they're team Trump in 0.1 seconds again.

So I'm a little confused, there had been reports for at least a year now of people saying Trump was notorious for flushing important documents that could land him in trouble. Now I'm seeing info saying the FBI removed maybe 12 boxes worth of documents. Seems like a person who's prone to flush evidence wouldn't have 12 boxes of it in his house? This is all just speculation on my part though, as I've never known, or heard of a person who flushes important documents down the shitter. I didn't know such a thing existed, doesn't everyone use a paper shredder? Maybe the plumbing at MAL wasn't up to the task of handling the constant flushing of classified documents.

Probability is that he could just have declassified those docs... but because arrogant ignorant he didnt. Now the feds get a tip that there is classified docs in civilian circulation, what are they supposed to do?
In all likelihood, he's simply inconsistent in his illegal behaviors. Trump's never struck me as a Martin Byrd type.
